Title: 2103 New Year's Resolutions
Post by: Tyler on December 11, 2012, 11:29:56 PM
Are you starting to think about your New Year's Resolutions?  I'm sure many of you have some like the usual like eating better, exercising more, saving more money, etc.  Why not start your resolution now?  Get a running start heading into the New Year.

This is an excellent point. I am off of work from December 21st until January 2nd. I'm going to use those days to jump start my promise to myself to get my fat ass in shape.

Very ambitious, but I'm too busy planning my "Let's Party Like It's 2100" party.

Let's see....
#1 get healthy. I've recently been discharged from physical therapy for a partially torn achilles. I've started walking and running to try and get back to a regular running routine, but didn't realize how far I had fallen off my previous physical levels. Unfortunately, I am now beginning physical therapy for shoulder issues. I have either got tendonitis or rotator cuff issues. I have full mobility, but cannot swing a golf club, which is killing me.
#2, qualify for NCGA Masters Division Golf Tournament. Last year, one hole cost me an opportunity to play in this event (triple bogey to shoot 81 in horrible conditions, missed advancing to finals by a shot). Had I made the finals, it would have been two rounds at Spyglass Hill (next to Pebble Beach) with my daughter caddying for me. It would have been awesome.
#3, clean out the clutter. Chateau Schro holds a lot of memories. However, it holds a lot of crap too. We need to get rid of the clutter and donate old clothes / toys to charity.
#4, continue to watch Nicole (golf) and Alex (baseball) excel at chosen sports. Nicole will be playing a lot of Junior Tour events in 2013 and is on the cusp of doing some really great things on the golf course. She just completed her freshman season and made 2nd Team All League (not bad for only playing for two years). She has her eyes on a golf scholarship. Alex's baseball is going great. He continues to be a rock solid catcher, as well as an exceptional outfielder (in a winter tournament last weekend, he had an insane assist on a play at 2nd from deep right for 3rd out....coach came out and met him on IF dirt for a major high five). He's working hard on all aspects of his game and his team is playing a tournament in Cooperstown in August 2013. Can't wait for that!
#5. Be the best dad and husband I can be.

That' it.

Mine is simple, and it's the same every year: Make it through the whole year alive.

I stopped making resolutions about changing myself years ago.... I've never adhered to any of them in the past.  ;D

I'm going to avoid the usuals of getting healthy etc... as I hope that is something that'll be part of the norm!

So by the end of next year I would like to achieve:

- Passing my motorbike test
- Get an electrical qualification

What I plan to do is build more custom bicycles and in the 3rd quarter start thinking about retirement.

Red, I noticed it too...I just didn't want to be the first fly in the ointment or coming across as a "smart ash :*))"....I just set goals for each incoming year, they're a bit easier to keep than resolutions. My three biggest goals for this year is to become more active in church, pay off all of my debt sans my mortgage and to bowl my first 3-game series of 800.

I try not to set anything crazy. I have always wanted to weigh 200 lbs for some reason. Last summer I was around 135 all summer but was annoyed with being so thin. I went on a ramen diet, I ate 12 packages of top ramen a day for a week and drank 2 protein shakes per day. I ended up gaining 20 lbs. Well, I recently weighed myself and I am around 190 so almost there but I plan to put on the extra 10 lbs in the form of muscle, not fat.

Other than that, I just plan to keep living like every day will be my last.

Makes sense to me Mike, it sure is funny how if you have straight hair then you want curley hair, if you are fat you would love to be slender, if you are rich , you want to be poor.

When it comes right down to the dirt of  earth !  We are who we are and some things we can change and others we can't .   ;)  But Be Happy !  With who and what we are .  Because if we are not Happy with Ourselves, we aren't happy with anyone else , and they sure aren't happy with us !  You can take that to the bank, in these days that means alot !   :)
