I just started shaving my head a week ago after a number of years of having it just short of shaved; Typical progression really-noticed over the last couple years that the hairline was gradually receding and getting thinner (as well as more gray).
Aside from this, I was partly inspired by both a patient and a fellow combatives student who have both shaved their heads for a number of years, to finally take the plunge and scrape it all down to the original paint.

I've tried the Headblade Sport without much success so far, so I've ordered the ATX. I think I'll do better with it because it'll be more like shaving with the five blade stick I started with, and the 4 blades will probably work better for me than the 3 on the Sport.

I guess it's true what they say; God only made a few perfect heads, the rest He covered up with hair! O0

The shininess is mostly (but not entirely ;) ) the result of the funky lighting in that room, which is also responsible for some of the graininess in the photo. I've ordered some headlube matte from headblade along with the ATX to tone that shine down.

I may let it shine during the summer when I've got a decent tan though...

If you're going to be bald might as well shine with it.
