G'Day All,
I recently joined up after stumbling across the site after purchasing some gear from Headblade. My name is Joe, I am from Melbourne Australia, 50 years old, married with no kids.
After my hair began thinning in my late 20's and trying every product to keep my hair, I decided to bite the bullet and shave it all off. That was back in 1996 and haven't looked back. I shave my head every day, with the exception of the weekend where I might not shave.
Recently purchased the "ATX" direct from HeadBlade and I must say it is the best I have used, it just gives the best shave I have ever had. I have used many razors and electric razors over the years but the "ATX" is just awesome.
I love this site, you guys have given me some many great tips. Just wanted to say G'Day to you all and thanks.
Cheers,
Joe (OzSly)

G'day bloke, how's it goin'?
May I give you a big Aussie welcome! There are quite a few of us floating around on SBG so welcome to the family.
I'm from Geelong myself, but work mostly in the western suburbs!
Feel free to just jump into the conversations, everyone on here are a top bunch of blokes :D

G'Day Beardman,
Thanks for the warm welcome. I am from the Northern Suburbs, South Morang.
Cheers O0

You're most welcome mate, you guys recently got the trains out your way. That's about the extent of the knowledge I have on your neck of the woods unfortunately.
-
As someone else said there are quite a few Aussies on the board. I'm from Canberra.
Greetings tto this awesome forum.
-
Yes Beardman,
We recently got trains so that's good. I am a Cats fan, use to be a long time member, use to travel there regularly.
Thanks for the welcome Nuts, much appreciated mate O0
-
Oh that's pretty cool, I'm not a Geelong fan in the slightest. I've actually gone off AFL a fair bit over the past few years, but I've never been into Aussie Rules anyway so that's not much of a shock for anyone that knows me. I still keep up enough to get involved at conversations at work, but that is easy enough, I just have to listen to triple M hahaha!
I am a Port supporter at heart though, even though I don't actively follow any team anymore.
I'm looking forward to getting into the cricket this year though with the big bash and the aussies looking like they might be remotely competitive this summer it should be good viewing
-
Welcome Ozsly. Great to have you on Board.
You sly guys from Australia are all awesome. I love reading your posts.
We sure enjoyed our trip over there in 2009. I hope to return again someday, God willing.
God Bless you all! Have a Happy Thanksgiving Day Holiday.
-
Beardman, the cricket this summer should be pretty good with the South Africans.
The big bash is always fun to watch.
Thanks for the welcome baldjoeg, great to hear you enjoyed your trip down under in 2009.
We don't celebrate Thanksgiving here in Oz but wish we had the holiday though ;D Then again we do get a day off for a horse race (The Melbourne Cup). Enjoy your Thanksgiving Baldjoeg mate O0

Welcome from a brother across the ditch!

G'Day Slyfive,
Thanks for the welcome mate. O0
-
G'Day Slyfive,
Thanks for the welcome mate. O0
I think a suitable response on my part would be 'no worries, mate'
but I can't really claim that's just an Aussie thing, I say it all the time.
-
Crikey Slyfive!!! You sounded like a real Aussie there mate O0
-
G'Day Slyfive,
Thanks for the welcome mate. O0

That reminds me of my old boss, he was a scottish guy, he'd only been in Australia for a couple fo years before I worked for him, and he was obsessed with the way we speak, hearing him trying to put on an Aussie accent with such a thick scottish accent was the funniest thing ever!
You are right though, it's not just an Aussie thing.
-
I've always been obsessed with accents, always wanted to do voices for cartoons! I've picked up so many 'New Zealandisms' since moving here, it's all part of the fun!
-
Keep hanging around us Aussies Slyfive and you will be sounding like us in no time mate O0
-
Where did you move to New Zealand from? I figured you were just born there lol.
I've got heaps of kiwi friends, my most recent friend from New Zealand still says some things with a new zealand accent, I think it's kinda cool.
Also I wanted to do voices for cartoons as a kid too!
-
I don't know what you mean 'as a kid' I still want to :p I'm from England originally but I've lived all over the place.
-
Haha, I dunno... I'd hate to use the term "grew out of it", but I don't know I've not given the idea much thought for a while...
England, nice. I've still got lots of family back there, I'm like 4th or 5th generation english. My family actually has a cove named after them... I'd love to go visit it one day, Pentreath Cove, has a nice ring to it :D

Awesome! Sounds like it would be around Cornwall somewhere, would I be along the right lines? I haven't been back in almost 9 years but should be heading there on my way to Canada in May. We should meet up and be pirates in your cove, YAAARRR!!!

Hit the nail on the head! I would totally be down for playing pirates in the cove too haha!
Funny story about the pirates.... Ummm... yeah my ancestors did that too haha. They used to turn the light off at the lighthouse then put their own somewhere else and wreck ships on the rocks then go loot them haha. Another ancestor was the last person to speak welsh as their first language.

That's a pretty smart plan! Well done them. As far as the Welsh speaking goes, I actually have a lot of Welsh relatives and it's quite funny, in the last 50 years or so, apparently more and more people are going back to their mother tongue, most schools teach in Welsh rather than English now, what an interesting language, so many consonants!
Anyway, I'll stop hijacking Oz's thread, thanks for being such a good bloke Oz

That is interesting, I didn't know that. I think it's good to see them reviving the old tongue. I've always loved other languages, but never picked up more then a handful of words/phrases from different languages... sometimes I struggle enough with english haha! Not even joking...
Yeah I think we've substantially hijacked his introduction lol... time to move on
