Hi, so, first day bald at church(I'm Catholic). Reactions were all positive, except for maybe one person, who was more shocked than anything. My pastor's eyes opened wide before he said "Wow, the Marine look! Looks cool!" Both there and at a costume party last night, when asking if I should keep it this way, the answer was pretty much always "yes."
Once I'm done with the 30 day rule, I'll see if I'll keep it. Reactions and the way I feel about it are great. The only reservation I have about it is how long it takes to shave it clean every day. Did anyone else go through that to be okay with it later?

I'd say you have nearly unanimous support and encouragement to maintain the Sly look. Feels good, right?

You will get faster and faster with every shave as you get to learn how to use your tools correctly and also learn the way your head feels etc.
I am glad to hear that the feelings are so positive, I think that by the time you it the 30 days you will be sold on the style and be sly4lyf haha

For most guys willing to stick it the 30 day rule, is sly for life. The shaving speed picks up enough and the routine has become enough of a habit and the friends and neighbors are now very accepting of the of the look, it's hard to go back. You'll be looking forward to the south morning shave and routine.
Welcome. Real pleased to hear of the positive response at church.
At a church I attend, the youth pastor, in his 20s shaved his head. He gave me a very warm welcome. Part of the inspiration for me to go BBC.

I'm glad the feedback is all positive and you're enjoying the look.
At this stage, don't make the time spend on shaving your number one concern.
Shaving for 30 days will allow you to improve your technique. Also, you'll have the chance to find out what works better for you.
Even if you won't improve your time after the first month, I'm sure you'll have figured it out how to work with your schedule so you'll still have time for the shave.
I used to shave in the evening because in the morning I'm always in a rush.
But with time and patience I got to improve my shaving skills and now I shave in the morning.

Great news keep it up. I agree 30 days will make you keep it -- never fails from what I see

I've been able to reduce my shave time to 15 minutes, half the time it used to take me at the start. Keep with it. For me, it's still liberating.

You look good. All things in time. If I have to rush my shave, I just don't do it as I seem to chop myself up. Ouch !

Alright. It's just that I can't stand the sandpaper feel, but I also can't stand making other's late. Still working on that driver's liscense, you know.

Chris_John, mrzed, hopefully, we won't automatically be selected to play Elisha in a church play. Lol.

I'm Catholic as well. The first time I walked into church, two women actually kissed by head! Our pastor said the same thing to me about the Marine look.

If you only shave WTG it shouldn't take longer than 2 or 3 minutes when using a stick razor. I believe that using a headblade could be even quicker.
It seems to me that going ATG takes ages longer with multiple passes needed to get properly smooth.

Glad all responses have been pretty positive, fairly new here too and I have noticed with time comes speed and accuracy, cheers!

It's great the feedback was positive, that surely mean you'll keep the bald look. As for the time it take to shave, don't worry about it in time you will master the shaving and you will reduce the time it take you to shave bald.
By the time you 30 days are up believe me you will love the look, feel, reaction and positive remark you will get that you will not want to return to hair. Being bald is the best thing that I've done and I haven't looked back. Even my sons are bald by choice and they love it. We fight over who took my shaving cream all the time.
Good luck.

I went past the 30-day mark in november, this is from october. But yeah, hi and thanks anyways.
I think I'm going to grow it back sometime, partially to see if I really want it, partially because I do look good with hair. Even if I normally become haired, I'll just shave it again from time-to-time, just casually. And the more I gorw it back/shave it off, the more sure I'll become that I'd want this for good.

Well..........or the more you'll have to explain to people what you're doing with the growing/shaving cycle. I could just hear "weren't you bald the last time I saw you"?

That's not a phrase you hear everyday ...

Practice makes perfect. Keep shaving it Chris. Even if it's not every month. The more times you shave your head, the more likely you'll end up staying sly.
