Hello fellow Sly Guys!
I'm sure this has been asked before but we've got new members and I'm still struggling with it taking me WAY too long.. Upwards of 20+ minutes a day between prep, shaving and aftershave routine. Any tips of getting a faster head shave? I know you're not supposed to -rush- persay, but there's got to be SOME tips to doing it faster.
Thanks,
J

Some likt to take a long time with lots of prep and aftershave care, and others just go for it.
I've been shaving my head for over 10 years. This works for me but may not for others:
I wet my head and face with warm water. The hotter the better but I'm normally not patient enough to run the tap for long in the morning.
Rub on shaving gel. I currently use Azor Alphagel sensitive but founf Nivea Sensitive was fine.
Shave face rinsing the razor frequently. An Azor is my weapon of choice but I've used other cartridge razors with success. Flexible blades help (a lot).
Shave around my ears with the grain.
Shave the back of my head by feel against the grain.
Shave the top of my head against the grain.
Do the sides against the grain and even out any areas I've missed.
Rinse with warm water.
Shower.
It probably takes me 10 minutes to shave my head in the morning, maybe a bit less. Sometimes I nick myself but not often.
It just takes a little practice.
Good luck

JJ, your post made me curious, so I timed myself today.
I've been shaving just over 5 months and have a consistent routine. I shave in the shower, and this takes 11 minutes:
Wet head with warmish water.
Shampoo quickly to get rid of the oil.
Exfoliate lightly (daily) with St Ives Apricot Scrub
Pre-shave oil (Shave Secret)
Headslick
HeadBlade Sport with Wilkinson Sword II Plus cartridge (other brands cause me to go slower and are more likely to nick) - WTG, ATG, XTG and special attention on a couple of swirly patches
Rinse
Done.

I really appreciate all this feedback. It's been very beneficial thus far. I've timed myself before and I've gotten it down to like 12 minutes before at the sink after a shower. Never timed myself when I've done it in the shower though. It's just frustrating cause I'm not a morning person to begin with and it's rough getting up an hour earlier just to shower and shave my head. Sometimes I think I just need to either suck it up and do it or stop being so "picky" with my head shaves and not go over those "spots" so many times which takes so much extra time. I also find I still don't get the top of my COMPLETELY smooth, like ever.

My aftershave process is to dry off my head with my towel. Is there any real purpose to using actual aftershave other than coating the scalp with a layer of cologne?

I wouldn't quite recommend rushing it, but honestly I'd recommend you to first
Scrub your head (after splashing some hot water on your head) - about a minute or two
Apply shaving gel of your choice and then, apply your normal soap all over your body(assuming you shave when you are in the shower), which gives time for the shaving gel to soften your roots
Do a single pass of the razor with the grain
Rinse, complete your bath
Lather up your dome again, dry yourself(your body, not the head)
Go against the grain, touch your head for any spots you missed, shave without lathering up
Finally, apply your after-shave of your choice
Dress up, drive up :P
I've been following this routine for 3 days(not a lot, I know :P) but I am done fairly quick.

I know what you mean about the time. I am obsessed with being smooth every day and find it takes time. You will probably get it down to a little less but being BBC there is a need to be sure I got everywhere smooth since I have no bald spots. Shower seems to work best.
