Title: Patchy Beard
Post by: Who Knows on October 27, 2012, 07:40:40 PM
Any way to improve growth in those area's? don't really want to grow out my facial hair with some of the patchy spots.

Not much you can do about this, at least naturally.  All I can say is to keep shaving and it may fill in eventually.

I can remember my first beard.  I finally let it grow and it is amazing with the small hairs that grow along to fill in spots .  That aren't usually seen .  And I am not sure if this helps but use a soft brush to comb facial hair while watching tv.  I seems to help the growth .  But maybe it was just a mind thing .  LOL

I 2nd the time and age thing. Beards take time to fill in, especially if you are you and/or clean shaven. If you are determined to have a beard the best thing you can do to start is to simply let it grow to a reasonable length and trim it at a short setting.

I trim at a 5 now, but I would recommend beginning at a 2 or so.  Trim regularly to even out the areas that grow fast with those that are patchy.

Brandon

Ps- I still have a patch where I have no hair but it is covered and I don't even notice. It also took me years to fill in an attached goatee, so don't worry too much :P Your beard will grow based on your facial hair pattern and I we time you will learn how to shape it best or if it isn't something you want to keep.

3rd.
Beard fullness and growth MAY improve over time.. I know I couldn't grow mine as thick as I could 10 years ago..
It's no guarantee, though.
A lot of it is genetics. It may not be in your particular genes to grow a super-full beard. Me, I have to stick to a Van Dyke, because the growth on my cheeks is too sporadic, and probably always will be. Just doesn't match the density of the growth of my chin and mustache, no matter how long I let it grow.

I say just keep trying different styles of beards until you find one that works for your face and your growth. Don't try to make it something it's not...

Wise words, Natedawg.

Hence my periodic 'chopless' look.

Thanks, even though I'm being a bit of a hypocrite now and currently letting it (facial hair) all grow out. Purely experimental.  ;) Haven't done so in 6 years.... Just want to see where it ends up after 4 or 5 months.

I agree with Myke. The choplessness of your beard is excellently unique.  O0

Indeedy.

Time works its wonders.

I expect my beard will be "just fine" when I'm--Oh, eighty or so, and I can justify being in "Santa Mode."

Ho, Ho...

The final "Ho" will come when my beard meets the "Santa Standard."
