Title: Against The Grain
Post by: blackbaldman19 on October 17, 2012, 07:25:56 AM
I Got Into The Routine Of Shavin Everyday, & I Love Doin It.

Is Shaving Against The Grain Everyday A Good Thing?

Is It Okay For A Scalp?

I See Less Of My Shadow But It's Kinda Still Visible.

I think the everyday shaving depends on the person and their skin....Shadow.....that's just something you have to live with unless you go through some crazy hair removing operation.

I shave against grain. Still have a shadow which you just live with.

Agree with you SlySirHarry12: think hair removal surgery is crazy. If you have the shave shadow, then it looks like you've shaved. And goes with the unshaved facial hair - like a beard.

found this today doing my own searching http://www.ehow.com/how_12009021_rid-hairline-shadow.html I am gonna shave my head today following these directions. Other than that i think the only way to make it less visible is getting a tan

YMMV, but I shave ATG daily. I always go for BBS. I have never had any issues other than if I got a bit too much sun the day before.

Yea, I Shave With The Grain First Because It Reduces The Irritation.

Then I Relather Up And Go Against The Grain.

I Can Still See Little Tiny Bumps On My Head Which Prompts Me To Make This Post.

hmmm regarding the tiny red bumps. I have this issue also, however I have only just recently gone sly. I have shaved 2 days in a row now. I'm not sure if it could be irritation, pimples? razor bumps? This is my prep..

hot Shower
Wash head with facial scrub
get out of shower (use paper towel to pat dry my head)
apply KOS shaving oil and shaving gel
Grab my gillette mach 3 and go to work. (originally started WTG, but today went ATG from the start)
rinse head cold water for a few minutes after shave
slap on some witch hazel

Only slight redness here and there, not very noticable. I am hoping this goes away the more i shave and my head gets used to it. I have been using http://egopharm.com/our-products/dermaid/dermaid-0-5-cream/

this helps with redness. You can get it from your local chemist

I don't think that shaving against the grain every day is a "bad" thing.  I do, and no bad things have happened to my crust.  ;D Except of course the dreaded black shadow, which is something that only a tan can solve, but that should be a non issue for you dude!

It comes down to what your skin can tolerate. I shave with and against the grain. There's no harm in shaving with or against.

I Know For A Sure Fact If I Shave ATG I Won't Feel Any Stubble Or Hair.

I Washed My Head With Shampoo In Which I've Never Use Shampoo In A Long Time. And I Had A Horrible Sting Like Acholol.

I Wanna Use "Headshed" To Wash My Head, But I'll Have To Buy It Online. And I Don't Wanna Go Thru That Hassle. Lol

ATG here always since day 1. Provides the smoothest shave for sure. I agree with Waine the shadow is a pain.

Well, I've shaved only twice but going against the grain was so much better! There was a slight bit of irritation though, my best guess would be the repetition of strokes in the same area.

ATG is the best part of Headshaving IMO, did that right away first time.
That smooth feeling is great and it's annoying when the sandpaper comes back
and there's not much to do than waiting for the next Day. Shaving 2 times a day didn't worked for me that good.

When I started shaving I was going with the grain, but now I go against the grain.  Makes my had feel much better.

ATG shaving is generally not for day 1, but give it a week or two and its worth a try.

I Shave WTG first ever day, then Atg,  until smooth.

My first shave was off a zero buzz, so with the grain was perfect, and I had read I shouldn't really be going against the grain at the time. As I've been shaving though, it's obvious ATG is the only way to get rid of the stubble. That crunching sound the razor makes as it cuts the hair is quite satisfying and I get super smooth with an ATG shave.

hello head bladers...

i have had the ATX for a few weeks now but used the HB3 and today i tried the wilkinson sword plus II,
but is there a trick to use the ATX with HB4 and HB6?

i noticed that when i use them i need to pass many many times over the same spots.....

for all of you who love it can you please explain how you shave (good)?

I personally don't own an ATX, but from what I understand the trick is to use the right amount of pressure.
