Title: Hi
Post by: BoomerHFP on September 27, 2012, 08:21:32 AM
Hi!

I've been gradually losing my hair since I was about 19 and I'm now 24. My thinning hair had been getting more and more noticeable over the last couple of years, and I've been going through alternating stages of thinking "ahh its not too bad" and "this is the worst thing ever". None of my friends are suffering through the same follicular turmoil, so it was quite hard going through it when I still consider myself fairly young. I hold my Grandad entirely responsible ;)

But anyway, I'd been toying with the idea of just cutting my losses and buzzing it down for ages, but never actually done it. Until today. After reading through your forum, I finally worked up the courage to go and get it buzzed and I'm so glad I did. I only wish I'd done it sooner. I know I'm not sly, but I've taken the first step and (without sounding too girly) its thanks to people on this forum that I have done it. I kept putting it off, but the encouragement and support that you give to each other and new members its what made me grab hold of the clippers.

If there are any people who are sitting on the fence, like I was not even an hour ago, I can honestly say that just taking the leap and cutting it off is the best thing to do. I love my new look, and I'm already wanting to go shorter. You'll never know until you try, and the worst thing that can happen is that you don't like it. So what? It'll grow back!

Thanks everyone, you're an inspiration to the follicly challenged everywhere!

Welcome to Sly Bald Guys, Lee.  I only have one more thing to say . . . shave the rest of it off!  O0

I only wish I'd done it sooner.

That's usually the sentiment ... "why did I wait so long?"

And welcome Lee.

Indeed, I'll second Red that you should go ahead and shave it all the way. You think you feel great now? I guarantee you'll feel many times better when it's slick.

Even if you don't, I encourage you to follow a modified "30 day" - clip it daily to integrate it into your daily routine and to give you and others a full month to become accustomed to the "New and Much Better" you. Plus, post here regularly about your experiences and questions and general observations.

Oh .. and how about a photo? Bet you look terrific!

Welcome to the Sly world.  Your membership card is in the mail <wink>

Yep. You'll want to shave it off one of these days. Probably sooner than later. And I bet you'll say "I wish I had done it sooner."

Good job.

Welcome to the forum, way to go with buzzing it down. Take the natural route and either buzz it closer, or just keep it as it is. If you do decide to shave it all off, you will be saying the same thing you said when you buzzed it. Many of us have felt the exact same sentiment upon shaving it down.
The freedom you feel is that palpable. Enjoy it.

Thanks everyone, its good to be here!
I won't be going sly just yet, I'm still getting used to being buzzed but I will be taking it closer. No doubt, like you've said, I'll eventually want to shave it off, and when I do, I'm sure I'll wish I done it sooner.  O0

You're developing the itch to shave it ... just a matter of time until you scratch it with a razor.
