Title: Apple Cider Vinegar
Post by: Plano on September 18, 2012, 07:38:46 AM
I would have occasional breakouts on my head, nothing horrendous, but sometimes I would get pimples on my head. Either way, I tried many methods, and I actually spoke to a Holistic Doctor at the dog park recently, and he suggested I use Apple Cider Vinegar (organic with "the mother"), or if I couldn't find that, find it in a glass jar, not plastic.

Either way, to make a long story short, I've since taken it internally daily, and also have been putting it on my head with a cotton ball nightly (for the past 2 nights).

I notice a little clearing, it seems, but was wondering if anyone has ever used this method before? I am going to continue doing it, I've done a little research on it.

Thoughts?

Locals here have used it with success curbing appetites, prostates, digestion and a neighbor puts it on her psoriasis and it helps to clear it up...bettern snuff and ain't as dusty. I make a toddy for my body, acv, honey 'n' branch.

wow! that's a great deal. I wish I could find a deal on those. I would do the same. The stuff is amazing. Have a headache? Take a swig! Have heartburn? Take a swig! Broken leg? Take a swig! Well, you get the point!

Needless to say, I'm going to continue this daily regimen. I'm a believer.

Wow! You got a fantastic deal, Justom. I'm sure it'll keep for a long time i a cool place. I buy the gallon jug and put it in the smaller bottles.

Before I went sly, I was told to use diluted vinegar (50/50 water) on my head to treat seborrheic dermatitis. Since SD is basically a yeast, the sprayed on mixture would sting on contact, but was very effective in reducing the painful itching brought on by SD.

However, since I'm now SD free (as a result of going sly), no need to apply vinegar to the Schrodome.

A family friend kept telling me to put oatmeal on my head to prevent hairloss when I told him I was going to go sly... Now that's a weird one. Cider vinegar is great stuff, good for getting glue off the hands too, even epoxy.

Add me to the list.

Bragg's plus organic honey every morning. Have done it for years and I attribute incredibly good well-bring to the regimen.

I hadn't heard of anyone drinking apple cider vinegar, but I've heard of drinking balsamic vinegar after dinner to help digestion, so it makes sense.  Good balsamics are sweet and smooth

You can't fault an aged balsamic, the good stuff doesn't come cheap though!

I was tooling around in the neighborhood TJ Maxx a few weeks ago looking for dog stuff and I ran across this bottle of Balsamic that was in a hard plastic security box with one of those high end electronic tags on it. The price....$75. and it was in the CLEARANCE section. I about fell over. I'm keeping my eye on it. Hopefully they discount it a few more times.

Just showing how much of a high roller you are! I wish I could afford to, but alas, I am but a lowly musician. Being such a foodie, and a bit of an aspiring gourmet, I tend to get things like that as presents from the family, so it's worth the wait.

I love to cook and I am an absolute foodie myself. But spending $75 on a bottle of Balsamic is obnoxious. $75 on clearance in TJ Maxx, mind you. That bottle was probably marked $150 or above in another store previously. How good could it be, right? I have a $5 bottle in my cupboard that tastes just fine! lol. If they lower it to $20, I'll buy it. and I'll post all about it, with my pinky in the air.

Balsamic vinegars are aged like wine, so you're paying for the extra effort that goes into it.  If you're cooking with it, I'm not sure the high priced stuff is worth it.

Carry on fellows I was not in the best mind set when i commented earlier this morning,Looks like I went South.
Back on topic here. The whole reason I started using ACV was to treat my sever case of GERD. I was taking meds for it for 7 years and a coworker said try drinking Braggs ACV every morning in place of your pill so I gave it a go and sure as sh*t I have been off my meds for 2 years now. My Doctor that I fired said ya i herd of that but its just a old fashioned fake remedy with no healing powers at all.I then did a lot of research on the topic and I am a true believer that it works for many things including at helping keeping Cancer at bay.Yhe internet is full of great info on this subject it makes for some good reading.
A small tidbit of info to get you interested.http://www.globalhealingcenter.com/natural-health/the-benefits-of-apple-cider-vinegar/ (http://www.globalhealingcenter.com/natural-health/the-benefits-of-apple-cider-vinegar/)

I recently began drinking it before coffee in the morning and I feel energized. And I have also found it to help with heart burn/digestion. I used to carry Prylosec in my glove box so I could pop one before going in to a restaurant, but I don't need them anymore. Oh and my doctor poo-pooed ACV also...all the claims are just that...there is no science. If it's workin' let's not fix it, right?

OKay.......ya'll have my attention.
I've heard the same things. "Good for everything" all the way to "non-working country remedy".
Aside from the URL above, which I intend to check out post haste, what other sites that are
not product oriented can I go to that ya'll know of?
Hell, I trusted this site for the care and well being of my skull, I'll risk it again.  ^-^

You can Google "daily cider vinegar" and get a load of sites, but I'm most comfortable with this one: http://www.bragg.com/ (http://www.bragg.com/) though it is product specific.

My parents actually started using ACV twenty years ago, or more. And that's where I learned of it. Both my sister and I adopted the practice and (knocking loudly on wood) we're in remarkably good shape (I'm 57, she's nearing 70).

My doctor's a traditional-science guy but encourages using any supplement provided there is no detrimental side effect.

The taste requires a bit of acclimation, but now I look forward to my daily morning "elixir."

Hey Weasel, if you object to the taste try mixing some honey and thin it with a little water...some folks like lemon in it too. Good luck!

At times I will take a gallon of spring water mix with ACV,LEMON,HONEY,GINGER,Lemon Grass And keep it in the fridge. No one ever will give it a try here so I know I will always have a cold drink in the fridge. On that note does anyone drink Kombucha ? I just bought the few items to get me started in making my own I will start a thread on that when I get it going.

I'm curious about kombucha and look forward to seeing your postings about it. Haven't had any exposure to it (yet).

All right then!
I checked out the Braggs site and found it was being sold just down the road from me.
Sooo....I am now in possession of a bottle and going to give it a shot.
It certainly has a following on the internet health food community (not counting the following
on the internet Sly community  O0 )
The website states it should be drunk 3 times a day at 1 Tsp per drink. Could I just take a drink in the a.m.with 3 Tsps, or an actual 1/2 shot, and still receive the same benefits?

I would not recommend it for your first few days that's a lot of acetic acid to hit your system first thing in the AM for a newbie. My normal morning mix is 2 tb spoons mixed with 1 tb spoon of Organic pure Agave Nectar in a 16oz glass of spring water and plenty of ice and some times a second serving later in the day.  Been doing this for two years now.

And I'm 1 TBSP vinegar plus 1 tsp honey in 12 oz water every morning.  Clearly - to each his own.

Straight-up vinegar is pretty rough on throat tissue. I'd say that it's not advisable to not dilute it.

This thread is making me laugh haha!!

But, to follow up with my original info on this....

the ACV really cleared up my irritated red bumps/pimples on my head. like REALLY cleared it up....

I recommend it..but do NOT let it get on your face....it dripped down my face and literally left a red irritated line straight down my face! hahaha.

Long story short, the stuff is great, but very powerful.

@Sly5...LIL DAB 'L DO YA!! LoL!!
@Plano...Was the clearing of the bumps quick? Like over night-ish or more of a healing like over the course of a few days/week? That is weird about how it helped your scalp, but burned/irritated the skin on your face.
Hmmm....??....wonder why??....TO GOOGLE I GO

When did apply diluted ACV to my scalp, I'd let it dry, then wash my head with soap & water. Seemed to do the trick.

You let it stay on your head for about 15 minutes...after that, just wash your head like usual. It's done wonders for my problem.

Hope it helps you!
