Title: May have to skip shaving a bit
Post by: StumpyDave on September 01, 2012, 12:43:07 PM
We bought a new table and chairs for our kitchen.  It came flat packed.  Why are the tools supplied with flat packed furniture made out of cheese instead of sturdy metal?
I decided that instead of fighting and mangling the bolts I'd get some decfent tools out of the garage.  I pressed the door opener and headed outside.  On the way I noticed a nut on the ground.  I'd dropped one a couple of days ago in the garage and hadn't been able to find it - it had obviously rolled out to the driveway.  I picked it up and continued into the garage.  Unfortunately the door hadn't opened all the way and I walked straight into the corner of it.
I now have a 2cm gash on my head that has swollen quite nicely.  Loads of blood down my shirt and I still have to build a table and chairs.

Sometimes I'm amazed that I've lasted 47 years (relatively) intact with my levels of clumsy!

Ouch! Shave or no shave, hope you heal and get well soon!

Sounds like a day or two off would be well warranted. Maybe put some ice on it to help with the swelling and you might shave :*)) day or two off of your break from shaving.

YOWCH!!! I do stuff like that a lot, particularly with the open boot of my car, setting to resemble the elephant man!

Hope it heals quick!

I've had mishaps like this more times than I care to admit.  I usually just shave around the area and then gently use an electric shaver on the wounded part for a few days.

The electric razor is a good idea, I used one when I cut my head the other month. Wishing you a speedy recovery, but I'm sure you'll be back to shaving in no time!

Good advice.

This is what I do, too.

Like Razor X, I too seem to scrape my scalp and have to treat it with respect as healing occurs. I seemed to bump and gash it many times during my first two years after going SLY. Luckily I am am more cautious these days...I wish fast healing for you!

I had a similar mishap yesterday afternoon.  Bumped the top of my head and got a small gash that managed to bleed quite a lot.  I shaved around it this morning and was planning to go over the wounded area with the electric, but when I touched the spot I discovered that there's nothing there to shave, anyway.   :-[
