Title: Dicotomy
Post by: Cris on August 22, 2012, 07:26:18 PM
I'm bald by choice and I have this dichotomy..
When I am bald I love it so much... but having so many hair to shave is really annoying, for me.
So here and there it happens.
I let 'em regrow and I had to be honest, people say that I look good with or without hair.
Thus I find myself with hair and a voice in my head that always says "cut 'em!"
On the other side, when I'm bald It's sooo annoying taking away so many hair on everyday basis...

So here's my opinion.

The Sly look is a good one for you, no doubt. And with this audience you will get a lot of guys who confirm that.

But what really matters is what do you like best? Smooth or UnSmooth?

It sounds like your preference is Smooth but you don't like the effort to maintain it.

I think perhaps you are looking at this from the wrong direction.

Instead of being aggravated with the time and effort to maintain, you really should be appreciating the quiet "me" time to do something good for yourself. Just how often do you take a few moments "just for Cris?"

That morning shave is very special for me - a few minutes when I can appreciate myself, think about my day ahead and the great things which will happen, and when I'm done shaving that moment of Sly perfection. Makes me feel great!

So ... decide what works for you. I think you are creating too much angst by straddling the fence. And if you go for the Sly side, view that shaving as "pampering" for yourself instead of a dreaded chore.

You deserve it.

Cris:  I'm sorry that U feel that way.  I'm with FrontierGuy in that my shaves are my..."me time".  My shaves are very therapeutic, relaxing, comforting, enjoyable, and spa-like.  It is my quiet time where I momentarily  "get-away" from the rest of the world.

I am very thankful that I find my face and dome shaves enjoyable.  I just can't imagine it being annoying.  There is nothing I can say but hope that your shaves are more fun.

Cris,

Before I went sly, I used to think shaving my face was a chore that had to be done.  Once I went sly, I began looking forward to the daily shave of face and head.  It's as FrontierGuy said: the shave time is private time and the result is great.

If you like the look and feel of the smooth dome, think of shaving as a treat for yourself.

First of all: thank you all for have given me so much wise and careful answers.
I'm quite wise too, infact I look young but I'm 38.
But you guys are wiser, and I know... I know that you are right on the spot.
The most beautiful moment for everyone here is the most annoying and discouraging for me.
I don't know how to reverse this... Lot of hair.. i keep on shaving but there are always some hair somewhere...
I know I'm sounding stupid and pointessly.
But this is how I feel.

ps I'll never get tired to apologize for my terrible english... I swear: when I speak in my language I'm a good speaker :-[

Some people consider quite sensual the sound of italian language.
I'm Italian, and I think It sounds good. A CLEAR sound.
But Sensual?
MMMM... I don't think so.
I like english so much
It's another world.
Make things simpler and straight :)

I haven't heard many people speak Italian so I can't really say.

Very good sly look and english.  I love my smooth head, but I can't say my italian is very good.

But I really have this problem.. I must find a way to make pleasurable the whole shaving process. To make it MY moment, as all of you have said.
It's up to me, but I don't no how... It's hard trying to transform an annoying (for me) action in a beautiful moment...

Maybe try listening to music while shaving.

Cris, I'm BBC too so shaving takes some time.
At first I used to do that in the morning, but I noticed it takes a while and I'm alaways in a hurry.
That's when I started shaving in the evening. I have plenty of time now.

Wow Andrei, you look stunning, very very compelling.
And that gives me some motivation to try appreciate shaving.
I'll try to do it when I feel the time is right, without "schedules".
Thank you :)

Hi Cris, I get days where I share your sentiments but the awesome feeling of a smooth scalp always puts things in the right perspective. You look a lot younger than your age,you look good with and without hair and your English is really good.

Hey there Cris

Shave as frequent or as less as you feel comfortable with. Do whatever makes "you" happy. Which rule book says you cannot alternate between weeks with hair or weeks bald by choice?

Cris,

Waine is right - there are no hard and fast rules that say you must shave everyday.  Do what makes you happy.  You look good sly, but it's always your choice!

Yeah, I suppose you're right... all of you are...
I simply LOVE the "30 days rule" concept
But I want to follow the rule only with the right feelings in my mind.
THEN it will be beautiful.
In the meanwhile, I could continue to shift from bald to hairy and vice versa.

I also agree with waine. Do what makes you happy, Cris. Don't feel like you have to force yourself to do something you don't particularly enjoy doing. To deny how you feel is to deny who you are. Shave when you want to. Keep it mixed up for now...
If you like your hair being short, but don't like the shaving process, you could even just trim with no guard clippers. Close as you can get without using a blade. Nice and quick, too.
