Hey everybody.
My name is Jason, I am 26, and just last night on a whim I decided to buzz my ~3 inch hair. While I love it, I've always wondered what it was like to go full-bald. Tonight I find out!
This is a really cool site/forum. I'm glad I discovered it.

Welcome Jason.
It's great and you're about to have an incredible experience.
What prompted you to buzz down, and now to shave?
And ... who are you most excited to reveal the "New You" to?
Keep us posted here. We're all along for the ride.

Thank you good sir!
It was pure impulse and no impulse control, haha. I was seriously just sitting on the couch and the the thought popped in, so I couldn't think of a reason NOT to, so 30 minutes later, I am my profile pic.
Well, I have been plagued with some social anxiety for as long as I can remember, but suddenly like...the last 24 hours, I just seemed to stop caring. This is always something I wanted to do, no matter who grumbled at the mention of it.
I think just looking in the mirror and telling myself I did what I wanted to do will be reward enough.
I will do it shortly!

All the right reasons!
Who lives with it 24/7? Oh, that's right - YOU DO!
I'm impressed ... and I expect to soon see you writing about the huge surge of self-confidence you unleash!

How often do you guys re-shave?
I shave daily. Love the smooth feeling each morning.
And here we have another guy wishing he did it sooner.
Excellent, man.
-
There must be an echo in here ...
EVERYDAY!
-
ha, yea, that seems to be the consensus! Morning or night guys, and how long does it take you?
-
I've always been a morning shower/shave guy. It sets the tone for my entire day.
As for time, the time added for shaving, minus the time subtracted for shampooing / toweling / combing works out to about an extra 10 minutes per day (that was after a couple of "slow" weeks learning the moves).
These days I don't want to rush the mornings - achieving that slick feel is genuine nirvana.
-
Wow! You look great!! Can't believe it's a first time for you!
-
Confidence sky high, wish I'd done it sooner.
How often have we heard this??
-
Looks good on you Jason... Keep it up man O0 O0 O0

Morning.
At first it took perhaps 30 minutes or so, but after a few weeks the time came down to under 10 minutes.

Thanks for all the compliments guys, makes me feel awesome!
Day 2. Shaved this morning, took about 20 minutes. I have three questions -
1. What's your best method for getting all of the back of the head?
2. I have a birthmark on the side of my head that bleeds every time I shave, any suggestions on how to circumvent that?
3. I am using a Schick 5-blade razor and shaving gel, what have you had the best results with?
Thanks! :)

20 minutes isn't bad for a guy just starting. As for your questions:
1. Feel the back by hand.....then check by looking through a handheld mirror (face in handheld so you can see back in bathroom mirror to actually see any missed spots in the back)
2. You may have to shave that area with the grain until your scalp adjusts
3. In the beginning it was a disposable double blade....then I moved up to Schick Quattro....then I mastered the Headblade...as of late, I've been using the Double-Edge Safety Razor....You're probably going to get more answers than I can count so this falls under "Personal Results May Vary".
Good Luck, and any other questions, feel free to ask us!

Pretty much what SlySirHarry wrote ...
1. I shave in the shower, so it's all by touch. Single long strokes from neck to top of my skull. And then when done I feel for missed spots and do a bit of rework.
2. Very gently until your scalp adjusts, and it will. So will you - you'll learn the unique maneuvers to deal with irregularities. Though it may take some time.
3. I'm using the HeadBlade (have since Day #1) and for blades I'm using Gillette CustomPlus3 which were recommended in another topic at that time. Quite content with them - 6 shaves per cartridge.
