Well it looks like my Headblade is on the delivery truck today. That means this evening I will be going sly!
Uber excited to get my hair chopped off as I have been a bit lazy with it lately. I forgot just how hot it is having hair.
Any suggestions as to how I should approach the shave?
I have only buzzed my head until this point.
This is also my first attempt at using a real razor.
Thanks,
Jeff

hey. I think you should try a barber shop for the first time. ask the guy a few tips while he's doing the thang.
-
Jeff, I think Paul's advice is sound, but if you decide to do it on your own, good luck and post a picture!
-
Buzz it down to a zero or 0.5
Jump in shower and let the warm water soak and moisten ur hair/head.
Jump out and apply your shaving foam, go with a sensitive one if it's your first time.
Soak razor in warm water for 5 seconds.
Slowly shave the dome WTG just to see how you get on, if it goes ok and you feel comfortable then go ATG.
Wash excess shaving foam off and then rinse head with cold water. ( I use an ice cube!)
Pat dry.
Apply a soothing post shave balm rub in well. Let it dry. Then apply some witch hazel, rub generously into the head.
Then go to the mirror and check out how awesome you look.
Cheers!

I watched this YT video

Be careful - long strokes from front to back. Do not apply any pressure. Let the Headblade do the work for you.
-
Good luck, Jeff! You will do just fine. Looking forward to the results! O0
Be sure to take your time. Your hands and your scalp have to get used to the whole operation. As with anything in life, do it often enough, it will become second nature.
-
Hey Jeff: Good luck and U will do fine. Post up a pic of your new super slick dome.

slow and steady wins the race! just take your time to feel your way around and you'll have no problem, better to underdo it this time and then give it more next time when your head is prepared.
-
I agree ... take your time (it's an experience which should be enjoyed anyway) ... and most important, don't put any pressure on the HeadBlade (at least until you've been shaving a couple of weeks and your scalp has toughened a bit).
Be prepared to be awestruck.
-
Good luck with the HB! If you give it time, you will master it (hopefully it won't take you as long as it took me). I can't add anything more to what the guys ahead of me have said. Let us know how it goes!

Done!
Took around an hour for a buzz cut, shower, and shave. Feels great!
Used 2 blades as I have thick hair.
Went with the grain first then started feeling confident and went against the grain.
The only tricky area was around the ears.
Topped it off with the Gloss lotion.
GF has already asked to rub it!
The question now is do I keep it shaved or go stay buzzed only?

Well done Jeff, can't wait to see the smooth you, please post a pic. Try to maintain the shaved look but shave every other day to avoid irritation. Welcome to the wonderful world of smooth.
-
Looking great Jeff!
I say the look it's a keeper, but it's up to you. 8)
Give it a try, like the 30 days challenge, and later decide. If 30 days is not enough to make up your mind... just give it enough time.
-
omg! looks stunning! congratz
-
Hey Jeff: Congrats on taking the plunge. It looks like a keeper. Now keep it smooth and shaved for the "30 day rule". Keep us posted on all the reactions of your new look. That is great that your GF wants 2 rub the dome.

Hey there Jeff, well done for the move! A bald pilot looks so cool! Try the 30 day rule to give yourself a fair chance in deciding to keep it like that, or not. There is a very good chance you may enjoy it very much.
-
Congrats, it looks good!...The fact that your lady wants to rub it (I guess that means she like it) is always a plus....Now try it for 30 days and see if it's a look that you want to keep (we think you will) O0
-
I'm in the crowd that thinks you'll maintain the "baby butt smooth" (BBS) style. That fresh, slick feeling after each shave is SO worth it.
-
You look awesome mate! I, like everyone else think that once your 30 days are up you will be sly4life!
-
Awesome brother.
-
Congratulations! Looks great.
-
Thanks for the support guys!
So far I have had nothing but positive feedback from my coworkers.
I plan to keep the look and today marks day 1 of the 30 day challenge for me.

Plenty of encourage from your colleagues is reason enough to stay sly.
By day 30, you'll feel completely normal about the sly look. Keep up the good work. And with each passing day, shaving your head will just get easier and easier.
-
Looks great. I vote for keping it shaved.
-
Jeff, to be perfectly honest, when I posted my post Supra I could not see your pic, as it would not open from the computer I was on. I saw the photo after the deed for the first time this evening from my laptop. "Its a keeper man!" To answer your question, "Keep it right close to the skin for 30 days..."
-
Congrats Jeff, it looks great. Stick with it for the thirty days, your scalp will become accustomed to shaving, and you'll be a pro. Enjoy the freedom! O0
-
What an improvement, you look slick and in control, just like a pilot should! O0
-
Hey Jeff I think it looks great! It also makes you look younger.
-
It's a keeper, Jeff.
Sorry to take so long to post this. I've been 'on the road' since July 18th and did not notice your post until today.
And nice to hear that you've had positive comments from the folks at work.
When you're ready, update your profile picture. Would be nice to see your bald head in pilot's shirt.

Thanks for the support guys! 23 days down, 7 to go!!!
I will update my pic the next chance I get :)

Hey, Jeff. I'm checking back to see the updated photo of your bald head!
You've past 30 days. Are you set to be sly for life? It looks good on you.
-
Do you keep it shaved or buzzed?
I personally much prefer the smoothness of shaved, so I shave my head daily (may skip if I'm sick or really in a rush, but only for one day). While a very short buzz looks similar, the shaved head feels better. Hope you agree and are still shaving your head.
Certainly head rubs on a shaved head feel great.

Hey bud,
Been shaving every morning in the shower. I made it well through my 30 days. It's a look that I shall keep.
-
Congrats and welcome to your new SLY Life...it is now time to rev up your smooth look to see how many R P M's you can get, that is RUBS PER MINUTE!.
-
you look younger!
-
Jeff you looked great in the first pic you posted after shaving. I am sure by now that you have mastered the technique and your head is adjusting to the daily routine. I shave daily as my shadow gets pretty evident at the end of one day. I want to have that fresh shaved look each day. If I skip it is only for one day or irritation can happen. Glad you joined us. It is a great ritual.
