Title: Anyone know where to sell a bass?
Post by: jon92388 on May 17, 2007, 06:08:40 PM
Its a 1983 Fender P bass. It was made in Korea and says squire series. I took it to a music store and the guy told me $60 for it. He was crazy. He kept trying to tell me it wasn't a Fender at all, just a squire. However a Fender rep told me it was a Fender just a limited made series in the early 80s. I'm really strapped for cash now and I don't wanna spend money I don't have to put it on ebay.

Check out Guitar Center.  I know my father-in-law bus a lot of pre-owned guitars there.  http://www.guitarcenter.com (http://www.guitarcenter.com).  Also, you can always list in on Craigs List (http://craigslist.org (http://craigslist.org)

Jon,
I do alot of trading on Ebay and fees spent on Ebay are only taken from the final sales price. It really isn't all that much. If something sells for $100, you fee is probably $4 or so.

Thanks for the replys. I found another music store thats not to far thats an actual Fender dealer. Hopefully they will give a better price. $60 for a 1983 Fender bass is crazy. Maybe the guy was trying to take me on it?

Probably not. I know not to go there anymore. Something just seems wrong about it. Its a 1983 and almost in perfect condition. The thing is older then me. Even if it was a Squire it would be worth a lot more then $60. He probably thought I was some kid and didn't know anything about it.

The brand of them is Squire. Mine is Fender. In the early 80s for like a year Fender had a Squire series. Its 2 different things. I took it to the other music shop They said they dont buy used instruments but they knew it was Fender and said they have heard from other people that guy trys to rip people off.

The last music store around here said they would have gave 300 for it if they were accepting bass. The guy told me they just don't sell so they did not want it. I guess I'm stuck with it.
