I just want to introduce my self and say thanks to the board. After facing the facts that MPB was taking over I had been thinking about shaving my head for awhile. I found this site and after hearing the stories and encouragement here I am slowly making the move to sly! i followed the advice of several members here and have taken it down slowly. My barber is a great guy and friend and he has encouraged me to try it also. We started a couple of months ago with a long buzz and had worked it down to a number 1 on the top and .5 on the sides. Yesterday he clipper shaved it down at a zero. While he was cutting I had a slight moment of panic . . . but when I looked it the mirror I loved it. I took my electric razor over my entire head again this morning. I like the five o'clock shadow look for now, but am sure I will try full shaved sometime. My barber does head shaves and says the first one is on him!
I just wanted to say thanks. This seems like a great group of guys and after reading here I was encouraged to go forward. The advice was great. With the gradual buzzing down the reactions have been positive . . . and most have hardly noticed the change. I love the look and feel of my head. . . and feel like a huge burden and worry has been lifted off my shoulders. ;D

Welcome! Thank you for sharing your story and Good Luck!

Welcome buzzedbald! I'm happy to hear that shaving/buzzing your head has brought you relief and happiness. I'm also glad this site has been a good resource and also a source of inspiration for you. Doesn't it feel great to cast of the shackles of hair that doesn't want to work with you anymore?
Looking forward to hearing about you going fully shaved. Hope to see you around! Ask any questions you may have, if you don't see any answers in the forums already.

welcome buzzedbald!
Nice you like it!
And what a better way to start head shaving than with some help from the barber-friend.
Let us know about the progress.

Yet another welcome to you, buzzedbald.
Your post is great reinforcement to all of us that we have an impact on people we haven't met yet. Terrific and empowering story.
When you want a real treat, go for the shave. The feeling is awesome ... just be warned that you may be hooked on daily shaving from that point forward.
Stick around. Great bunch of guys around here (and now, you included). But you already knew that.

Wow. Good story. After a few days with the electric shaver, you can take out the razor blade and get it really smooth. It's great to be bald. Look at all the guys here on SBG that endorse it.
Welcome. Thanks for sharing your story. Wish the barber here in town gave the first head shave free.

Welcome buzzedbald.

Welcome from another 'noob!
For me, the decision to shave started with a charity event. Once it was gone, it was a feeling of control. No more concerns of MPB.
I immediately loved the look!

Welcome to SBG and buzzedbald ;D

Great story. Welcome to SBG. Every cloud has a silver lining, even mpb. Like Frontierguy said, once you shave it off smooth, you might just be hooked on slydom. It's a great feeling.

Thanks for the welcome everyone! Since buzzing down to a zero I have been out with family and friends twice and have gotten good feed back. Comments have been mostly postive. . . and even two ladies wanted to rub my head! Haha! :D I noticed I was more relaxed and chattier than usual . . . maybe more confidence! I absolutely love the look!
I like the zero buzz/stubble look and feel for now. It is definately a keeper. I am not sure if I will keep going to my barber or just do it myself. . . He is a friend and I enjoy going in for cuts and a visit. Another guy I knows goes in to him every Monday for a head shave and my barber makes a deal with him to save some $$.
I feel like sly shaved is coming sooner than I expected! I thinking at our next holiday break in November going for it . . . who knows maybe sooner.
Thanks again for the encouraging words and support. This is a great group of guys!

@buzzedbald ... now that you're thinking of shaving it's going to gnaw at you until you actually do it. So expect it to happen LONG before November. And the visual difference between zero guard and shaved is almost imperceptible - so others are not going to notice the change. But the tactile feeling for you when you run your hands across a smooth scalp. Now that's indescribable. Enjoy the journey!
