Title: Finding it hard to choose.....
Post by: Slick83 on July 05, 2012, 05:53:42 AM
Hi all,

I am 28 years old and like a lot of otheres have been losing my hair since I was around 16 yers old.

I have a whole lot of issues with being the centre of jokes while growing up which has made me very self conscience.

I am worried that if I do go sly that I will not be able to grow my crown back and also worried about how it will look if I do. I really need to decide and just do it, kind of at wits end.

Any advice, suggestions or support would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Hey, Slick83. Dude, if your crown doesn't grow back, then it was in trouble to start with. Shaving won't affect the progression of your hairloss. If it is thinning to the point that you're concerned about it, then it's time to SHAVE.  In my experience, once the crown started biting the dust, things just got worse from then on.

Welcome, Slick 83! As Balddoc put it, if your crown isn't coming back, it was in trouble to begin with anyway. In my opinion, it's one thing to have a receding hairline/extended forehead, but once the donut hole develops, or worse yet you have a full blown horseshoe, it's time to go sly and get on with life....Good luck with what you decide.

Donut holes just don't look right on anyone. Once I realised in horror that I was sporting one, the hair disppeared in double-quick time.

Another to confirm the fact that mpb is a one way street.  Embrace what your are--get on with life--it was only a hairline anyway.

If you can post a picture that will help with recommendations.

My two cents ... you're already spending too much time, energy and emotion worrying about this - it's time to take action (versus being a victim of circumstance). As the others suggested, shave it off (and feel the freedom and confidence which will emerge).

But if you're not ready for that you can gradually (I'm talking a few weeks here, not months or years) trim it shorter until you get to a buzz cut.

Welcome.

Hi there Slick 83.  Welcome and I have no doubt you are at the right place for the best "REAL life" support and advice.

The good "doc" has spoken, and given some excellent advice.  My crown also started to go first, after the receding front area.  I always had thin hair, and got a few giggles from people that stung a bit.  The initial jump can be very tough, but the idea will keep turning in your mind.  The BEST way to deal with these nagging thoughts is to shave it all off and tell yourself, "I can grow it back again if Sly is not for me."  But you may just be surprised at how amazing it will look and feel.  I took the plunge spontaneously, and all I got was positive feedback and a whole new attitude towards life.  Now I am Sly for life, no doubt!  Something I never thought I would hear myself say.

Whatever your decision is, it will be respected.  Keep reading the life stories here and you will be enlightened!

All the best!
