I am fascinated by the States. I have had a warm, positive, enjoyable vibe from most Americans I have dialogued with on social networks and from what I see on the media. This site is no exception. So I am throwing this one out...
In your opinion, which State has the most baldies and why?
:)

that a tough one. i know one thing it sefinantly isnt Alaska. :P i would either Califonia, texas, new york, may be florida. just cause of the weather and the population. i really have no idea.
-
Hi Waine: I'm not sure on which US state has the most sly. The most populous US states in order are California, Texas, New York, Florida, and Illinois. So... I if I had to make a guess it would be probably those states.

I'm also fascinsted by the northern america.
-
Waine... there is just no way to know this. As for us Americans.... we are as varied as you can imagine. I LOVE BEING AN AMERICAN!!!
-
I just got back from a 16-state vacation road trip, Maryland out to Montana on the mid-continent run through Nebraska, and the home trip back through the Northern tier. 5000 miles. 49 state license plates (sorry, Hawaii, didn't see you.) For this summer of 2012, the overwhelming number of headshavers is in the the eastern upper mid-West (Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Iowa). Some Dakotans, but eastern Heartland is where the lack of love of hair is found this past June 2012.

Hard to give a complete answer. I'm just back from a trip to Washington DC and can tell you that the sly look is very common in the stretch of the Northeast Corridor from DC to New York City!
-
The US Census Bureau doesn't collect this sort of data. 8)
All I know is that I see plenty of us here in Austin, Texas.
-
Philly and South Jersey have an awful lot of skull scrapers.
-
There seem to be many here in Cleveland as well. I feel as though I see at least one sly guy everytime I go out in public and hopefully I influence someone to join us when they see me out and about.
-
I find there are plenty of sly guys along the Gulf Coast from SE Texas all the way to the Florida Panhandle....
-
We have them everywhere here in the Washington state area, either due to the laid back lifestyle or don't have to worry dome burn....no sun ;-)
Loved my visit down under a couple years ago, very nice people and pretty ladies everywhere!
Cheers,
Ty

In recent times I shaved my head living in Phoenix AZ. Plenty of others could be seen there. I currently live in the Austin Texas region - sly look very very common. I doubt there is much regional difference.
-
Waine, I wish I could give an honest answer....but I think in the States, sly is more of a personal choice than a regional choice.
-
No shortage of Sly's here in Southern Illinois/Missouri... ;)
-
There are a lot here in California. Not so many in Hawaii.
-
Lots here in Central Florida - but it's hard to know whether they are residents or tourists. Regardless, it's great to see lots of Sly Guys in the area.
-
My theory is that us sly guys constitute a certain percentage of the overall population, let's say 20%. That being the case I would think that the city/state with the highest population would have the highest number of SBGs.
-
My "perception", completely un supported, would be California. I don't know why, its just an outsiders wild guess. Perhaps as I see California as a very "liberal" state, but I am speaking out of my depth here...
-
You are right about CA being liberal, but slyness has gone mainstream for the most part. I deal with individuals from the most conservative professions, from lawyers to accountants to bankers and even politicians. All have their share of sly guys, though I will say that politicians might be the least likely to go sly.
Also, on a separate but related topic, I had lunch with a friend of mine who is a 60-something partner with one of the large regional law firms (very conservative firm). He kept commenting on my new look and how great it was.
To the original question, I would guess that the geographic area with the highest % of the population who shaves their head would be states that are warmer year round, but I see an awful lot of shaved heads all up and down the east coast when I travel there. They just wear hats when it's cold.
-
Hmm Bucksfan, interesting... Perhaps I err by equating Sly with "liberal". If conservative people are doing it, then it proves that going sly is not really connected to being “liberal” or “conservative”, but rather to a simple choice of hairstyle. And that perhaps is how it should be...

Sly, in the past five to ten years has moved beyond an "edgy" thing to do for mpb, or as a matter of choice for BBC. Two years ago I did a lot of work in Atlanta. At that time I found it had more Sly domes than other cities at that time, including NYC. But what has always amazed me in my slick scraped grape existance of nearly five years is the number of sly guys traveling by air. I can't remember the last flight where I was the only sly guy on board. Airports, the food courts, TSA clearing areas, etc., sometimes look like there's a convention going on.
Except for gyms and health clubs, I'd say that airports are the places where the demographics really show sly is totally mainstream.

As I have said before - -where I live all the troopers are sly bald - - -1/2 of the guys that come into my liqur store are bald or balding - - - -Just took a cruise ti Bermuda and almost servers and room staff were shaved bald - - - - - -very few had hair - - -Many of the officers including the captain were bald and they were young guys 30's 40's and 50's - - -
