Title: HeadBladers ... right or left
Post by: Frontier Guy on June 27, 2012, 06:51:48 PM
OK, so I've seen several videos with guys using their right hand to shave the right side, and then switching to the left hand for the left side.

That's not me ... I use my right (dominant) hand for the whole thing. I'm just not that coordinated to change midstream.

What about you?

I'm a switcher, but I'm also ambidextrous so I suppose that helps a bit!

Switcher. Feels weird shaving the right side of your head with your left hand.

I'm right handed and shave the majority of my head right handed but when i get to the left side I switch.

I also shave the majority of my head with my right hand & then switch up....I seem to lose time once I switch though lol.

Same here...most of the scalp with the right hand, but some parts on the left side work better with the left one.

That's the advantage of the HB...that there is almost no risk to cut even with the "stupid hand"...

About to head off for my first headblade attempt now, I am going to be guessing I do it all right handed, like with the hydro 5

Perhaps I need the (new) "30-Day Challenge, Phase II" to master, I mean accomplish, I mean survive alternating hands. I know it makes sense, but it seems so unnatural when you are as uncoordinated as me!

I alternate hands.  Right hand for the right side of the head and left hand for the left side.  Pretty much like the demo video on the Headblade site advises.

So first headblade shave complete. I really enjoyed the experience and NO NICKS so I must be doing something right  O0

I used my right hand for all of it, but I did feel that I should have switched to my left on the left side of my head, I might try that next time!

Wow!  It has never even occured to me to switch hands from one side to the other, but then I am very right handed.  Now I'm curious though.  Next shave will have to give it a try.  Perhaps I should keep the bandaids handy.   :P

Just took the little yellow car for a drive... another stunning shave, fired with a third run of the impressive Gillete Contour x2. I realised that although I do use both hands, as instructed, I use the right a bit more than the left.

Good stuff Beardman! You probably payed attention and went slowly -- carefully, for that first run...

I'm right-handed so I use it for the whole job. To me, it feels unnatural and uncomfortable using my left hand.

If someone didn't know what we were talking about, this could sound pretty bad... if you know what I mean  :*))

Use both hands depending on which side of the Schrodome needs a shave.

Switch hands for the appropriate side of the dome ;)

Nope, just like Hingatao said... It would feel unnatural!

Switch hands for the appropriate side of the dome ;)

Trying to do that, too. Think you get better traction.

Well, I tried it ... but I don't think I'll continue switching. I use my right hand for the blade. My left has the excess HeadSlick for touchups and such. Everybody's different ...

Seeing as I'm disabled I do everything with just the right.

@Greatnessic, I can get away with just using my right hand...

I use corresponding hand of whichever side I'm shaving.

I too switch hands depending of the side I'm shaving

I tried alternating the other night, and it felt quite awkward, but it seemed to work better. I like keeping my left hand free with a bit of excess headslick though as frontierguy said.
