Title: Removing sweater lint from head?
Post by: dyerseve726 on June 25, 2012, 08:26:17 PM
I've only been shaving my head with a blade for about six months now.  I've gotten my technique down with a good safety razor and old fashioned shaving soap/brush.  So I'm all good there.  My problem is that I usually shave my head about twice a week.  Any growth after the first day turns into the biggest and stickiest piece of velcro I've ever encountered.  If I take off a pullover sweater, I'm left with large quantities of lint rolled up on my scalp.  I can use my hands or a towel, but neither works well at removing the lint and I'm stuck wondering if I got it all.  I work with the public, so I'd rather not have a big ring of cotton on my head.

My first thought, and please forgive me as I don't mean this as a racist comment...anyway, my first thought was of seeing black men sporting those palm sized brushes that I always assumed were simply to keep their short hair clean.  Turns out, those brushes are for waves, not lint removal, haha.  Would these palm brushes work for removing lint from my VERY short stubble, or is there some secret I don't know about yet?  I searched google with every relevant phrase I could think of and did not find an answer.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I didn't see a thread on it.  Thanks for your help :)

I can't help with an answer ... but wanted to say "welcome" and I'm sure someone will be along shortly who is more enlightened than I. Hope you'll stick around and contribute.

If a lint roller will remove lint from your clothes why wouldn't it work on your head?

Thank you :)  I do plan on sticking around

I had thought about this, but I wasn't sure how comfortable that would be directly on the scalp.  I certainly wouldn't want to use one of the sticky ones, but perhaps a clothes lint brush?

Hi there, try using an aftershave on your head instead of a moisturiser.  Applying aftershave gives your head a nice smooth shiny tight texture, whereas I find moisterisers make my head a bit tacky / leathery causing lint to sometimes stick to my dome, especially when wearing a hoodie or a beanie.  I dont get it whith aftershave.

But not possible for those of us who experience irritation if we shave every day.

Then stop experiencing irritation, fellas! There are way better experiences to have, duh!   :P

I'm kidding, of course.
I've been lucky to have a scalp of steel of sorts, I guess. I've never had problems with irritation or bumps anywhere on my head since I've started shaving daily. My neck feels for ya, though. I almost never use a razor on it, because I'm almost guaranteed ingrown hairs; pimples; and irritation.

+1, my neck and face hate being shaved, I get more trapped hairs than the 80's had perms.

Ouch that must be painful....I've experienced less irritation on the neck since using ice cubes and witch hazel. Just a suggestion, guys...

Yeah I jumped on the witch hazel band wagon, seems to help with my head but not my throat area

I think Bald doc has the best advice for this matter.  "Stay shaved daily".
