I'm 27, and I've been shaved since April 2010.

I used to have long hair....and I mean LOOOONG...I have been a bassist since 1998, and it was sort of my "look".

When my hairline started to recede, it bothered me for years. I got depressed (not like proper clinically depressed), but I just lost so much confidence.

I was on tour with a band that I used to be in, and for a drunken joke, I got the singer to buzz my hair off in the hotel toilet in Liverpool...I woke up the next morning, and after a few hours of initial shock, I felt like a totally new person!!

When we got home, I still wore hats most of the time as I was trying to get comfortable with all the people who used to know me before with long hair, get used to it.

Now, I love it! The only thing that bothers me now, is that I can never EVER decide on how to have my facial hair. I've got a great stubble coverage on my face, but I can never decide what looks good. At the mo, I'm on the totally clean shaven.

The amount of random girls who love touching my smooth head (as in the head on top of my neck!! LOL!) is just amazing!

Anyway, rant over, I shall be checking out some tips on this site in the future.

While we're on it, what do you call our kind on your side of the pond? Bassist or bass player? My drummer and I always have a friendly back and forth about which it is. I say bassist and he says bass player. My argument is that he's not called a drum player, but a drummer; the guitarist is not called guitar player; keyboardist, keys player, etc.
