Title: US Post Office poster on Identity Theft
Post by: Rusty Shackleford on May 29, 2012, 02:23:32 PM
I've noticed this poster a few times while in the Post Office:

(https://www.slybaldguys.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youreviltwin.net%2Fimages%2Fusps-com%2Fid-theft-poster.gif&hash=320e675e09481d6624db82867d7588ef31a0117b)

Just in case the photo disappears from the internets, it shows a guy with a shaved head and half-goatee pasting his oddly-professional looking model shot over the photo of a female on a stolen ID.

Due to the hyper-sensitivity and hyper-political correctness that strangles this country, it's incredibly interesting that the laws of political correctness has determined that it is A-OK to present guys that look like him as villains.

This makes me wonder: are we shaved and goated guys just more thick skinned than our pussified peers or are we prone to commit identity theft?  If so, share you story below!  How much did you steal?  Were you caught?

BTW: Who the hell was it who decided that the Ctrl+W shift key should close the currently active browser tab WITHOUT warning?  It is so effing easy to hit that when attempting to hit Shift+W.

I once pretended to be my brother, to hire a video!

I got away with it too! >:D

Nice blue shirt on the guy and the bald head looks good. Can't be a crook. Must be a model. Maybe we all could be models?

Frequently guys with shaved heads are portrayed as tough-guys or villains. Life's too short to be offended by it.

And yeah, the "identity theif" looks good!

What I'm wondering is how the hell a dude is gonna get away with using a female's ID...  ???

Haha, just imagining his booming low voice saying 'hi I'm Susan' ( I can't enlarge the picture so can't see what name is there, but you get the picture).

It's funny that you should bring up this topic now, I've just been cast as a security guard in a music video, so I guess we get stereotyped as both criminals and law enforcement. Half the force over here are sly.

As crazy as this sounds, there is such a thing as what my unit likes to call CGIT's (Crossgender Identity Thieves). When I was deployed two years ago, many AFN (Armed Forces Network) ID theft commercials had men with long hair (you could see the Adam's Apple)and short-haired/sly women (you could see there was no Adam's apple) They would have voices corresponding with their (alleged) gender, but if you check and see on Youtube, search for "AFN Identity Theft Commercials" (they may or may not be uploaded). Some of the first names used in these commercials are names that could be given to either sex. One good thing to invest in is a shredder. Simply throwing papers with your name (or God forbid your SSN in its entirety) on them is walking into the trap of ID theft. Also be careful when giving out personal information over the phone and on the internet. Also do not conduct personal phone business in public places or out on the sidewalk where you can be seen..People do eavesdrop! And finally, be careful when you trust someone else with your affairs, sometimes its just better to wait unitl you can do it yourself. Thanks to the OP for bringing up a subject we all need to be aware of!

Half the (security) force over here are sly.

At breakfast at Bojangles last week, the policemen that were in for breakfast were as shiny as could be on top.

Daughter's boyfriend is in basic training for the national guard. He's as bald as they come. ( He's not likely to leave it bald when he has a choice and she does not want me encouraging him any more that being bald myself).

So if I understand this correctly, what we are saying is that cops are notorious identity thieves?   :*))

Absolutely.

Comic books, movies and TV have used bald guys as villains for decades.  Unfortunately for the Post Office, sly is far more mainstream (and as everyone has noted, absolutely common in law enforcement), so the poster seems a little behind the times to this bald guy!

If the poster was part of a Monty Python skit, when the girl on the license got her identity back, she'd have to shave her head and grow a goatee because that would be easier than correcting all the records!

Thanks.  Aside from a month in late 2010 I've been sly the entire time, and I only went hippie that month because I had 7 stitches in the top of my head.  I'm just easily distracted with the web and can quickly forget about a site when something else catches my eye.  For a while I was busy hanging out on sites dedicated to the most awesome truck ever built but, well, let's just say I won't be going back there.  Anyway, I plan to pop in from time to time because this is a fun hey is that a new HD version of the Wii?

I've seen this poster many times myself but never really paid much attention to it. Now that I'm sly myself, though, it seems a bit offensive. Talk about stereotyping!
