Unfortunately mate, that is a yes.

You have my fullest sympathies. Heathrow is no fun.

Crowded and poorly laid out. And that's before you board you aircraft. Once you plane does taxi along around the airport, it can take an age waiting for take off slot, because there are a stack of planes in front.

Then on the way into Heathrow, expect your plane to circle waiting for a slot to land.

Welcome to the United Kingdom.

Thankfully, we have many others ways getting on and off this island. Yes, give Gatwick a go.

When travelling to other parts of Europe, I take the Eurostar train from central London via the Channel Tunnel (aka Chunnel). With Eurostar, you can get to Paris and Brussels in 2 hours. And several Dutch & German cities in around 4-6 hours. Compared with the misery of Heathrow, taking the train out off this island is a breeze. And the Eurostar is almost always spot on time.

Mind you, we are just a few weeks away from the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. In our 1000 odd year history, only one other monarch has reigned longer than the current Queen Elizabeth.

So we are having a four day long weekend of holidays and celebrations. The flags are going up around London. There will lots of special BBC television programmes.

As a lad, I was not a great fan on the monarchy. But nowadays, I realise the Queen is the one constant that we've had in the UK. She's always been there.

I'm writing this post from London Stansted airport. In fact I just got into my hotel which is right next to the airport. I have an early morning flight so I better go to bed now and get at least a couple hours sleep before heading HOME, yeah can't wait to see my kids

We had the Olympics in my hometown in 1992, I spent those weeks away from home, away from all the crowds, so I'm happy to watch part of the Olympics on TV

Plenty of excitement here in London tomorrow (Thur 26 July).

Because the olympic torch is going right outside our office. We're just 3 minutes walk from the office of the prime minister, David Cameron. So after it's been by our office, it's goes to his offices and photo opportunity.

Because of the Olympic vehicles, much of central London is now closed to private motor cars. It's now much easier to do my daily commute to the office on my bike !!

Will follow your advice and not worry about Mr Romney.

Yes, tomorrow planning to watch British Tour de France champions Bradley Wiggins and Mark Cavendish in the bike road cycle race.

This morning, we saw the Olympic torch being carried on the Royal Rowing Barge along the River Thames. Terrific spectacle. I'll add pictures...

Tonight, we have the Danny Boyle opening ceremony spectacular. Believe you me, BBC television have been absolutely milking this all day along. And so have the rest of us.

Forgive the excitement. Here in London, we are all hopping up and down with anticipation.  :D

Ah yes, green ribbons were being handed out by one of the Olympic sponsors.

Just watched the Royal Air Force fly over the Olympic stadium on the television. Then a minute later, it came over  my house !!

30 minutes to the ceremony. Everybody in the UK either watching on BBC or at an open air event.

Volleyball is the one to watch. Best of all, it's right next to where I work !!!

Of course, I have to take a different route to work on my bike. But the diversions and road checks are all worth it.

Having experienced the 1984 Olympic Games in my backyard of Los Angeles, there is nothing quite like a hometown Olympics. I hope someday the Olympics return to Los Angeles for a third go-round. I'm proud of how successful those games were here and how it set the bar for future Olympics, not to mention being the most profitable games ever.

I was watching boxing yesterday. A story came out about some guy in Azerbaijan paying $9million to insure that at least 2 Azerbaijani boxers would win gold medals. One of the commentators, I think it was teddy Atlas, basically accused the Olympic committee and the judges of corruption. Apparently the Japanese team filed a formal protest after their fighter knocked down a fighter from Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijani apparently spent most of the third round on the canvas and never landed a blow but was credited with winning the third round and had to be helped/carried from the ring after the fight. I didn't see the fight, gonna check YouTube, but that sounds like at least an incompetent decision.
On the lighter side I'm glad that Phelps now has the record as the most decorated Olympic athlete.

On the boxing question here's a link to some vid of the fight from NBC:
http://www.nbcolympics.com/video/boxing/highlights-japanese-boxer-robbed-by-controversial-decision.html
I watched the vid and it shows the Azerbaijani fighter down 5 times in the third with no "8 counts".

Mitt Romney might not be welcome in London again.

Just before the London 2012 Olympic started, Mr Romney came to London and said there were  'disconcerting' signs in the preperation for the games. We were not impressed by his comments.

I think we've done a good job with Olympics. Despite, Mr Romney comments beforehand.

Didn't really follow that much of the action, but got the 'must watch'. Everybody was talking about Phelps and Bolt, but for me the most enjoyable thing to watch was the mens basketball final US vs. Spain.
US won gold but Spain once again earned the respect and applause. They deserved to win and almost did if it wasn't for KDurant playing like being from another planet

Mark H and Doug

Glad you enjoyed my Olympic 2012 video. I had fun making it. Wanted to make it my own experience of the Games plus do a little commentary to camera when we were at an event.

When I see myself on video, don't realise how bald and bearded am I !!!

My pal who speaks to the camera at the event had a spare ticket to the weightlifting, so that's how I got to go.

The pictures and video were mostly my own using my iPhone plus a clip or two from YouTube. Then put everything together using Windows Movie Maker.
