Subject says it all. I do have to mention that I was quite happy with a close trim of about 2 to 3 mm. I think I'm just going to alternate between shaved and trimmed for a few weeks and see what I like more.
I did cut both my ears while shaving, those things bleed like crazy!
At around 5mm: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/694/cimg3034t.jpg/

At around 2-3mm: don't have it :D, looked good though imo.
At 0mm, sly: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/585/cimg3072w.jpg/

Hope this before and after comparison can help others to go sly!
PS. How long does it take for the 'white area of my head' do even the tan on my face?
-
Congrats! A very huge difference between before and after!
-
I think the sly look works best for you.
Your eyes become the focal point - that's a really good feature for you. IMHO
-
The sly look is very distinguished. Looks really good on you.
Before you 'alternate' too much, remember our recommended 30 day rule. Shave your head completely bald, daily, for 30 days. Then decide if you want to go back to hair. As you follow along here, most guys don't.
I was sick a few days this week and missed shaving my head for three days. Man, I'm happy to be shaved bald again, (BBC).
-
Congrats! Looking good with the Sly. To echo mrzed, follow the 30 day rule... you'll be amazed!
Cheers!

Welcome to SBG! The sly look works for you, no doubt. Congratulations on the nice dome!

Went sly again today for the first time since posting these pictures (about two weeks ago). I have to say that I still need to get used to it, and grow fond of it.
Comparing to the 'before' pictures I do think I look better, just haven't 'owned' the look yet. Feels kinda exposed.
Do you guys keep it sly all the time or do you also allow it to grow back a few mm every now and then?
-
I have not graduated to the level of everyday shaver. I shave every third or fourth day, but since I've been using a shaving brush, the growth can take up to four days to show instead of the two days prior to the shaving brush...There's probably more answers to this question from many people than I can count, but we all have to find what works for us individually. Good luck!

I keep my head shaved all the time since I started this. I occasionally skip on Saturday or if I am ill in bed. But I don't let it grow. Keep it shaved bald. Looks the same every day. Feels great. I own the look.

I used to shave every 2-3 days, purely out of laziness. I didn't mind the stubble on my head. Felt kinda cool. ;D
However, recently I discovered my hair has decided to catch up with me and has started thinning on top... So, now I do it every day, and I love having the smooth feeling all of the time. Just like anything in life: Do it enough, it becomes second nature. 8)
-
Another question: I've been shaving more regularly now but every time I shave you still can see my hairline.
Is this a question of not shaving 'smooth' enough or is this still the white skin vs. tanned skin difference or will you always see the hairline or...?
I like shaving bald, but I like being completely bald even more. The hairline showing actually bothers me. I see some guys on this forum don't show the hairline?
Thanks!
EDIT: The 'hairline' I'm talking about is clearly visible in this picture:

I don't get this thread, who is Kaldo talking to? Kaldo, you are the first on this thread? Perhaps I am missing something. Anyway, no hassle, I will find my way around here.
Back to the thrust of the thread -- For now (only sly for 30 days now, "Do I hear a shout in the house?") I shave every single day. I have found that the "blue shadow" haunts me a little. Perhaps I will experiment in a few weeks with a bit of growth and clipping.
I love Sly, Now... B33r

@Kalbo, sorry, I missed a whole page before your post...Must have been a glitch on the net here in Africa...
-
Hi aeth, I agree the sly look really suits you. Stick with it for the 30 days. You'll never go back. O0
-

It's still possible he was talking to himself. ;D
-
@Waine - no worries
@Natedawg - I do get my moments of crazy and talk to myself but this one is not one of them...hehehe
@aeth - I can see you have dark hair, that causes the hairline/shadow that bothers you. I have dark hair and even if I shave really smooth, I still have the shadow, I have learned to live with it. What is important is the feeling of smoothness.

Agreed. I know that some men here have worried about having a permanent 5 o clock shadow of sorts showing their receding hairline. There's nothing that can really be done about that, but in my personal opinion, it still looks much better that way than actually growing it out. 8)

You look great bro, it makes you look younger. I don't know why some people prefer keeping the horseshoe ...
-
Been (shaved) sly for three days in a row! Neeeeeeeeeew RECORD!
-
Now's a good time to resume the 30 day rule!
Stick with it solid for 30 days. It becomes a habit. You won't have to start all over again.
-
Been as good as sly for a month now, didn't even realise till today!

congratulations on a whole month.
It still looks good on you. And the smile ...
You rock the sly look. Keep it up.
-
That's a very powerful look. Great!
-
Shine on aeth. It gets better and better.
-
Great look for you. Stay sly, bro.
-
Thanks for the re-encouragement everyone! I'm happy being sly, I'm however still strugling a bit to make it a 'part of me'.. right now I'm 'former me' but bald - opposed to being ' new me' and bald is a part of that identity.
Don't know if that makes any sense though :D
-
aeth ... makes total sense.
I don't know what you looked like before, but I think the sly look works. Particularly for you (I looked at the picture from a few weeks ago) it's distinctive and I think it will increase your confidence as you become more comfortable with it.
What are you concerned about? What is preventing 'sly' from truly being who you are?
I'm surprised you've not received a lot of positive compliments ... yet. They'll come.
-
Congrats on the 30 days (I'm 3 days away) and I echo what several others have said ... sly looks GREAT on you (and yes, you do have a bit of the Kelly Slater look). I have the visible hairline as well, even though I have light hair. Getting an overall same color on my head helped (tanned now that it is summer). I also discovered two things recently ... 1) using a pre-shave oil gets a much closer shave, and 2) I go AGAINST the grain first and then with the grain on the second pass. That has helped reduce the visible hairline even more. I use the HB (with a Fusion for around my ears ... easier to maneuver). Good luck ... keep the look, it suits you well.
-
You are doing and looking great! Having these emotions is normal. You just did not realize true happiness can be so simple !
-
You don't need to put so much effort into making it a part of you, aeth. It will happen naturally with time.
Don't think so much about being it. Just BE it. It looks great on you. 8)
-
I like the sly look!

Natedawg is correct. It will become a part of you with time, so be patient. I have gone sly during the summer for three years now. I'm now on day 51 this year. This is the longest I have maintained the sly look, so it is becoming more and more a part of me. In fact, one of my coworkers asked the other day if I was going to grow it back, or if I was done with hair. I told him that I am done with hair. I have been doing a controlled tan so far this summer, being outdoors for an hour or so and then putting on a hat. I have a pretty decent tan on it now, so my face and head are almost the same shade. Now it looks like bald is a natural for me!
