hello fellow chrome domes:
http://www.amazon.com/Taylor-Old-Bond-Street-Sandalwood/dp/B0007MW2ZW
I just wanted 2 share with U my review of the Taylor of Old Bond Street (TOBS) Sandalwood Shaving Cream. My beautiful wifey got this 4 me from Amazon.
It is packaged in a 5.3 oz plastic tub container. Immediately when I opened the container... the sandalwood scent filled the air & brought an instant smile 2 my face. My badger brush was able to get a nice thick lather. As I was shaving the face & dome... the cream allowed my blade 2 glide with ease. This cream is absolutely amazing. It is a keeper.
All in all... I give this product a big thumbs up. I like how it improves my shaves & my beautiful wifey loves the way it smells on me. Hope U enjoyed my review & hope all your shaves are smoooooooth. O0

Thanks fo rthe review Warhawk!
It's a bit pricey....... Do you think that 5.3 ounce tub will last or is it going to be here and gone?
-
If u use it right, and work up a good lather all u need is an almond sized amount (or less) for each shave, even if you have to relather. I use TOBS avocado and I can't even tell I have touch the tub after 3 weeks of almost daily shaving.

Thanks Warhawk I assume its from my side of the big pond , I like sandalwood very much .

Like SlyAggie said, it does last.
I used a different soap but it is in the same sized container. I got in December and there is still 1/2 to slightly less than 1/2 of it left. You only need a tiny amount to work up a good lather. I also am a daily face shaver.

Hi Lynchy: Let us know how U like it after U purchase it.
Hi Mike: Yep... that 5.3 ounce tub will last ya for a good long while.
Hi Baldchav: Yes... TOBS is from your side of the pond.
Hi SlyAggie: The avocado version of TOBS will be my next product from TOBS.

Thanks for the review
It indeed is a little pricey compared to other products but sooner or later I will sure try this. One of the great things of being sly is to be able to try out different products all the time, I really enjoy that, it's just that you need a budget for that alone

This sounds like good stuff guys. I plan on trying it one day myself, when budget allows.

I have a tub of this stuff coming in the mail along with a Vulfix badger brush with razor/brush stand! I've only used the boar bristle brush from Van Der Hagen (the one at Wal-Mart) and threw it away months ago after about a year of use. I think that brush had MPB because multiple hairs fell out each time I used it.
I'm pretty excited to be shaving in style soon. I'll be adding a Merkur DE razor to the collection next and see if I can successfully make the switch to truly traditional wetshaving.

Sounds great! That brush should be a big improvement!
This is also my plan just need to get a wriggle on!
Let us know how you get on.

I have this stuff right now and it is awesome. It's actually cheaper than other creams if you use it correctly and it is better. Unmatched scent! Old-school barbershop scent. Our fathers and grandfathers would be proud!

I've been anxiously awaiting the badger brush and it arrived today!
I've been sink-shaving (as opposed to my normal shower shaving) the past couple times to prepare for using a brush and a tub of cream (have been getting incredible shaves lately, much closer and longer lasting than my shower shaves, but that's for another post). So after a hot shower I loaded the wet badger with this great smelling TOBS Sandlewood, which was a much easier process than the VDH soap pucks I've tried in the past. The first thing I noticed when swathing the cream on was not the cream itself, but the quality of the brush. If you're not using a brush or are using a boar-bristle, you're missing out on the incredible feel and lathering quality of the badger hair.
Overall, my shave was quite satisfactory, though not exceptional. I attribute this to skipping my usual pre-shave oil (to see what the TOBS cream was truly like) and inexperience with a shaving CREAM instead of gel or HeadSlick. Definitely looking forward to my next shave with the stuff!
EDIT: It's been about an hour since my shave and there are absolutely no red bumps on my neckline! It's a common problem.

Just a quick update:
This TOBS cream and brush combo has finally helped produce my finest shave yet! I've been using mostly HeadSlick the past couple years and this TOBS blows it out of the water.
Today was my third time using TOBS Sandlewood, and I added 5 drops of Shave Secret and 3 drops of glycerin into the mug before I started to mix the lather. This really made all the difference imo. It was much easier to glide the blade across my head and face than ever before and I started using less pressure. I had plenty of lather (you barely touch the tips of the brush to the shaving cream and you get a ton of lather from it) so I could lather up two or three times.
I've never had a smoother shave and this may be the first time I've had absolutely zero irritation on the back of my head or the bottom of my neck.
