Hey everyone, just signed up but i've been a long time reader an finally decided to join the party.
I am 30 now, but i've been showing significant signs of hair loss since i was about 21. I've always shaved my head with a 0 with clippers. I always got lazy due to the amount of cleanup that was necessary so i would let my hair grow out for weeks at a time and then finally get the strength to buzz and clean again.
It was only about 20 days ago that i decided to shave my head every other day to minimize clean up, and to hide the balding completely.
I stick with a regular remington head shaver, but i remove the clippers and shave that way...i've been doing that for almost 12 years. I finally decided to shave (used a Fusion proglide, WTG and ATG, and absolutely loved it. Since my head is used to shaving with a trimmer, i don't get that much irritation and bumps. I was literally able to scrub the stubble areas that i missed on my front to back and back to front passes . I absolustely love it.
I rushed and got the headblade sport, and headslick...and even though I didnt nick or cut myself in anyway, I felt the entire procedure was awkward and not satisfying. I guess i'm just used to being able to fly through the entire process with the fusion and I couldnt get a lot of the same areas with the headblade .
I've read a TON of mixed reviews on the head-blade, some love it, and some dont...my only thing is that I love to have that baby smooth shave after i'm done...and i've read that a lot of users don't go for that when using the head-blade (it will look smooth to other people, and only we will know that it's not baby smooth).
I found it hard to go from bottom to top on side of the head, which is where i like the smoothness to be also. but going front to back wasnt bad either.
I tried the CP3 blades on the HB also (Gilette custom plus), but i didnt feel a big difference compared to the 3 blade...maybe a little less irritation, but i didn't get a smooth shave with either. Nothing really compared to the fusion proglide, but who the hell wants to spend 30$ for a pack of 8 ?
Anyway, that's my long winded intro, i plan on being a regular here and I'm glad i found this place.
I'm not going to give up on the HB just yet....im trying it every 3 or 4 shaves and anything I missed with the HB, I'm using the fusion to finish up. Mainly because i dont want to see the HB and HB triple blades just collect dust :/O
I also bought this razor for missed areas , let me know what you guys think of this, and please....honest opinions only, i can't learn if i don't get critiqued :P

Hey Chav, i've read most of your posts about your hB issues and i have to agree with you as well. Is it the general consensus of this forum that you're not going to get a baby smooth shave when using the HB, and that the HB will just do what's necessary? Or do people actually get the same save as us Fusion guys ?

Welcome to the forums! Great intro and looking forward to your stay here.
I use the HB Sport and get the baby smooth shave every morning. Don't feel any stubble until late in the evening (shave around 5:30) But, as others have stated, YMMV. Again, welcome!

Welcome to the party, Junior! I've honestly never used the HB. Looks way too gimmicky for my taste. Disposable Mach 3 razors give me a smooth clean (and quick!) shave every time. 14 for $25 at Costco. In the end, stick with what works for you. Good luck in your razor quest!
Glad to have you aboard! O0

Thanks guys, in between my first post and this post i decided to try the HB again since i had 1.5 days stubble. (buy the way i purchased the sport, but not the "New rubberized" sport, since Walgreens didnt carry it. So i guess i'm not missing much (maybe some rubber wheels and a rubber grip). But it got better this time. I can't scrub the missed spots because of the HB is contoured to your hand, but I was find with going straight lines, back and forth. Then again, touched up with the Fusion. Maybe once i get the hang of the HB, i'll be able to go back/cross/side, whichever want i want until I don't feel stubble anymore.
Who knew that this much went into head shaving :) i had no idea....I can relate because i have very sensitive skin, and I joined a shaving forum and finally started to use a DE safety razor with Feather blades ,and i haven't had an ingrown hair on my face and neck in over a year, i still enjoy shaving now that I've switched over to the DE blades...so maybe i'll finally get the hang of head shaving also .

I've always run with Gilette... starting with the mach 3, and then the 4, and now the fusion 5 blade lol. I noticed the non-power gets closer for me. The microfins lift the hair, the 5 blades chop a lot of it down, and the lubrication strip that lasts for all of about 5 seconds softens the hair.
I just hate that the refills are so damn expensive and dont stay sharp. They can make a better blade, they know what they are doing by only giving the blades an edge to last for a short time. It would probably help if I didn't have such coarse hair.

Welcome Jr

Welcome aboard! Have a Headblade, but haven't been using it because other razors (so far) have been doing a better job. Good Luck and post often!

Thanks guys. Glad to be here

Welcome to the Forum, Junior!
I'm a HeadBlade user.... I love mine! Your comment about the HB not getting a super smooth shave is incorrect. I guarantee you my shave is just as close as any shave you get with a stick razor. The HB just takes some time to get accustomed to.
-
Whether you use the HB or not, the important thing is that you shave your head bald on a regular basis. Love the smooth look and feel.
Welcome to the forum. Post often. I'm sure you will have good input.
(I do use the HB daily and like the results. so it works for some.)

Yeah I'll have to get more experienced with it. I got nothing but time! I'm such a hairy bastard I can practically shave twice a day ....if I didn't irritate my skin so much. But anyway. The HB and rayzor blade concept look like they can really help and speed up the process .
Since one of my clients is Gillette I get 8 free fusion carts a month so I'm using those on my head since I can't use them on the face. (DE razor) for the face only

Welcome!
I was a little intimidated too when I saw how much work can go into getting a good shave, but in the end, it's your head, your money, and your time. Do what works. Different strokes for different folks. Literally.
Best wishes.

Thanks Guys. Appreciate the hospitality. I'm slowly starting to figure out how to shave with getting less and less irritation.
Pretty much the bottom two inches of my back neck...I have to go wtg which won't be noticeable.
Its the same as my neck. I have thick curly Italian hair so I have a lot of ingrowns when I go ATG in certain areas. I'm learning a lot as I go !

Come on Junior, let us see a picture of you.
We do not bite, I promise :)
