Title: what was your wife/ girlfriend's first reaction to you going sly?
Post by: palmerproject on April 24, 2012, 06:35:16 PM
so i want sly for the first time last sat and i really do like it. i like it so much that i plan on staying sly but my fiancee told that " diddnt hate it but it wasn't her favorite.  she has since that it is kinda cute and that she could get used to it. but how long did it take your guys wives/girlfriends to start loving it, if at all.

Going on 5 years, she's learned to live with it, not like it--but she had a real fit back then, a total real fit.  You're doing great.

She was not keen at first - although it was pretty short before I shaved - but after 7+ years she now doesn't make any comment and when I once  grew it back a bit she said 'get rid of that mess'.

I love it!

My wife took a month or two before she would touch my head more than a second and jerk back.  She's getting used to it.

Just last night she said to the family that she is really getting used to it!

Regular non-reation from my wife, as per usual, my kids on the other hand ain't so keen. I'm a white guy living in a rural-ish part of Asia so I stick out enough without this is my kids way of thinking, or at least used to be as I'm going on 10 or so years.

My wife's reaction was not happy!  I had been warning her that I was gonna do it before I turned 40, but she didn't think I would do it THIS soon before my bday (in October).  She later thought about her reaction and said that she was mourning my loss of hair, to which I responded "funny, because I have been mourning the loss for a year or more".

She is getting used to it, now that I am 15 days in, but doesn't touch it unless I prompt her.

The kids, on the other hand, love to rub it. I feel like a Buddha!

When the wife first saw my shaved head she said "you look ugly". Then again the day before I shaved she said "you look ugly". So I guess it's all good.  :)

I had a military haircut all my life, and a High & Tight Horseshoe Flat-top for 15 years.  So there really wasn't much up there anyway and decided to go bald September 9, 2009.  Her reaction, "wow I love it you look very hot and sexy wished you had done that along time ago."  I still remember as if it were yesterday.  My daughter was very surprised and said, "Dad" but never disliked it to said anything after that.  She now calls me "pelonsito" which is baldie in spanish.

Mine hated it !! I'd have done it 10 years previous if hadn't been for her comments whenever I brought it up. My children & grandchildren & everyone else liked it & I got lots of compliments. It's been 2 years now so she's gotten used to it but never touches it. I still like it no matter what 😄

Despite having short hair when we were married & during the course of our engagement - i thought it was just the next natural step to get my head shaved bald - her initial reaction was; "Aaaaargh! What have you done? Have you become a skinhead or something?" And then soon after she couldn't resist touching my smooth head.Shortly after getting my head shaved I let my hair grow out to a #3 length & i was promptly advised to get my head shaved again. She still cannot resist touching or kissing my freshly shaved scalp now.

It's amazing how women are justified in expressing their dislikes about physical attributes when it comes to the opposite sex but when men don't prefer something, we are seen as wrong/cruel and that we are supposed to love everything they do no matter what.

When I first shaved my head five years ago, my wife went absolutely ballistic.  Now she tolerates it and only occasionally mentions it.  It's not a big deal anymore.  I couldn't be happier sly.  My receding hairline is getting worse and worse anyway, and most people who know me say they couldn't imagine me with hair.

I remember like it was yesterday (5 years ago).  That was a gr8 day.  When my beautiful wifey saw me,  I was wearing a baseball cap & I told her that Jim (my barber) shaved my head.  She didn't believe me at first but when I took off that baseball cap.  She immediately gave me my 1st official head rub.

She loves me so much that she actually shaved my dome for  almost a year.  Man... for all U "fencers" out there who R thinking 'bout shaving their dome.  Just do it!!!  The sly life (as for me) gets better and better each & every day. O0 O:O O:O

I love it.

I can take comfort in the fact that the failure of my relationships was never because of my bald head. It was never an issue for my wives or girlfriends...I guess after all the messy Afros and dreadlocks they see, a bald head just might be welcome!

I'll also add that, and I mean this with no disrespect to my wife, we had no discussion about shaving. I made the decision for myself based on what made me feel the most comfortable as it's me who has to live with my head 24/7. I may offer opinions to my wife about hairstyles and there are lots of potential hairstyles to give opinions on in her case. The only preference my wife can offer in my case is wispy balding bird's nest style or shaved. I know she prefers the bold and shaved over the ridiculous balding style that I would have otherwise.

It's a win win really.

My wife loved it from the start. But she loves it WITH the mustache. As you can see I haven't grown that back yet.. not sure I want to.

Er.. found some interesting ways to use the bald head in the bedroom that my wife loves.. even if I let it grow a little stubble over a couple of days..

Use your imagination Nuff said. I hope that comment is not too inappropriate for this forum.

At least she is consistent.

Sounds like a shaved head is no better or worse than a head of hair.  Might as well look sharp with a bald dome.

My wife is starting to like my bald head look.

In my case, my wife was the one to initially clip all of my hair off, because I lacked the cojones at the time. She has loved it since day 1. Especially since I started shaving smooth a few years after.
