Title: Bald Guyz Products.
Post by: Tom McGarry. on May 09, 2007, 04:18:08 AM
The following is an e-mail I sent to "The Head Bald Guy" at Bald Guyz.

To " The Head Bald Guy "
Ok, so yesterday I recieved a parcel from your company "Bald Guyz", first allow me to once again say a big THANK YOU for the products and shirt you sent to me. Also let me tell you that if were not for the Sly Bald Guys web site I may never have heard of your company.

So first for the Ultimate Shave Gel;
I am a sink shaver, and I couldn't wait until this morning to try this so right after I sent you the thank you e-mail I shaved right away, and again this morning before work. First the scent of this shave gel, made it very apealing to me, the shave was very close and comfortable, on both my head and face, which was a big plus for me, because I normally cannot shave my face every day, because of bad irritation, especially on my neck. But with your shave gel I got very "little" irritation. My only issue with the shave gel was that it was to runny, almost but not quite like water. After using it for the first time, I accidently squeezed out a little too much out of the tube. But all in all I rate it an 8.5 out of 10, a very good product.

Seccond the Sun Screen SPF 30+;
I am a truck driver, and I do city pick ups and deliveries in my local city. I pull a flat bed trailer so I spend a fair amount of time outside tarping, straping/chaining down loads. Again the scent of the sunscreen was very nice, also I am a big guy, and as a result out in the hot sun I do sweat, and I found that the sunscreen wasn't sticky, didn't run or drip down into my eyes, and lasted pretty much the whole day without haveing to re-apply. Over all, I thought it was a great product I rate it a 10 out of 10.

Lastly the Head Wipes;
As I mentioned above, I am a truck driver and spend alot of time on construction sites, outside in the blowind dust/dirt and wind, and at the end of the day I wiped out my Head Wipe from my lunch pail (to keep it cold) and it felt awsome and as with the other two products, the scent was very nice. By far this was my favorite product, it made my head and face feel refreshed and energised after a long day in the sun and dirt and wind. I LOVE this product, I rate it a 15 out of a possible 10.

Again thank you very much for your generous gift, you definatly got yourself an enthusiastic coustomer, and I will pass the word around to all of my bald friends, and if you have any advertising meterial such as buisness cards or product brocheurs that you want to send to me, I will be more than happy to pass them out to every bald guy I see.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Thanks.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Tom McGarry

Thanks Rob, got it.  Think I'll order my next round of bald guyz products on-line rather than Walgreens...but when you register at baldguyz.com for the photo of the week, the site states that you will also get some sort of sample package.  Anyone see or actually receive that sample package?  Think I'll explore their site a little more today...

This might be a different promo, but I recieved today a free tube of "ultimate shave Gel" from you guys for the photo of the week thing you got going on. Thanks  ;D This stuff is great! And it couldn't of arrived at a better time. My wife broke a tooth and we had to shell out $700 for a crown, leaving us F@!#ing broke for a couple weeks at least. I was Affraid I'd have to settle for cheap dollar store shave gel to get me by. I also like the Moisture Gel better than head lube....but with all that good stuff you put in it should I be adding a little to my tea as a vitamin supplement?

Thanks for the free sample of shave gel.  Just got mine a few days ago and just ordered some more deep cleaning conditioner and wash.  Your products really work great for the bald guy.  I especially like your deep cleaner because my scalp is very sensitive to regular exfoliators and it never dries up or gets irritated with yours.  Thanks again.  O0

Hey Lance,

Thanks for the great comments. It makes us feel good that all of our effort is proving out in the response that we have seen from fellow baldies. As an FYI we are coming our with new shirts, mugs, hats and other "bald" goodies so keep looking at our website for the updates. We have now set up shipping to Canada so all of the Sly Guys north of the border can now keep their domes looking great!

Just got my sample of Bald Guyz Shave gel in the mail this weekend.  I was a little skeptical, but it gave a great shave.  Only thing is the gel is clear and low foaming so I have to get used to shaving with the braile method as I can't see where I've already shaved.  Although it took me less time to shave this morning.  This could be a very good thing!!! Yeah bro, it is a very good thing.  I was skeptical about the whole product line a while back when I first gave it a try.  But I've been using it everyday for a few months now and it has really made a difference in the health of my scalp.  I use the whole product line except for the wipes just because my dome usually doesn't oil up too bad during the day.  I have to order the "Head Wash & Shampoo" and "Deep Cleaning Conditioner" online because it's not available in any of my stores yet.  But the shave gel and the moisturizer are always available, and there are a few places I can find the sunscreen if I'm lucky.  The "Deep Cleaning Conditioner" is really Bald Guyz version of an exfoilater.  It uses natural fruit acids instead of harsh granules to clean the pores.  My routine is to use the deep cleaner twice a week.  I use the head wash everyday before I shave when I don't use the deep cleaner.  Then I apply the shave gel and let it sit for a minute or so.  I shave and give a cold shower rinse.  Go to sink and apply Bald Guyz moisturizer.  That stuff is really good for getting rid of irritation and helping with razor bumps.  It also doesn't leave the dome oily but still gives it that smooth feel I love.  I give the whole line a big thumbs up.   O0

Good review, Lance. I am hoping to give the rest of the line a shot but haven't been able to find the shave gel and the other products you mentioned here yet.
I do use the moisture gel and the headwipes and I think they are great. I always look forward to finishing up my shave with the moisture gel, it really soothes and gives a nice soft feel. I tend to have oily skin and the moisture gel does not leave any extra oily feel at all.
I am happy with the products I have used so far and hopefully I can check out the shave gel too. May just end up ordering online.

Glad you enjoyed the shave gel KC, I've recently been using it exclusively, along with their Moisture Gel, and I gotta say I really like it.  I personally don't really care for HeadSlick anymore - it just tends to cause my razor to drag, even when using a brand new blade.

Like warhawk said, some of the products are available in stores but limited right now.  Around here I can get the shave gel, after moisturizer, and head wipes at local stores.  If I'm lucky I can find the sunblock once in a while.  You can go online at www.baldguyz.com and see if they deliver down under.

Just an update, I had finally received my free sample from BaldGuyz for signing up on their website after about 3 - 4 months.  I received a free full-size shave gel last weekend.  Well, to my surprise, when I went to the mailbox tonight.....Lo and behold, another box from BaldGuyz and this time it was a full size bottle of the cleanser.  Just tried it tonight and it has the same fresh smell as the shave gel and feels pretty good on the skin.

I think what happened is that I went back to the website a 2nd time and registered again since I hadn't received my sample for a long time.  Well, anyway...Thanks Head Bald Guy.  I really like both products, so far, and would recommend them to all my SLY Brothers!!! O0

My only issue with the shave gel was that it was to runny, almost but not quite like water. After using it for the first time, I accidently squeezed out a little too much out of the tube.

I agree Tom, the shave gel and the moisturizer are too thin and runny for the type packaging they are in. Even being careful, I waste almost as much as I use.  But I do have to say, other than that, I'm happy with the products.

Hey Jay,

We created our products to be the best they can be. That means a Moisture Gel that is just thin enough to totally absorb into the skin. Our Shave Gel needs to be very slick and lubricating so as to allow for the closest shave. If we made these products any "thicker" they would contain too many chemicals and not perform as well.

If you open the tubes faceing upwards you will have better success using our products.

Thanks for enjoying our products.

I love the moisture gel, nice(but not over powering) fragrance, blends well, and is cheaper than head lube. My main prob with HB's Headlube is that even with a small amount it takes forever to blend in. I'm afraid I might miss some in the back and look like I just got done filming a gay porn with a blind guy. Or the bald version of "something about Mary".

I have never used Bald Guyz products so I'm not familiar with their consistency however my good friend Paul recently sent me some headslick and I'm very impressed with it and I've learned a trick from another  one of my bald friends Cooncatbob which I use with the Headslick

Try putting the BG headshave gel into a shaving mug or bowl and get a shaving brush. Wet it and whip the gel into a thick lather. This helps for easier application and prevents lost product.

I get good results using this technique with the KOS Alpha gel too.

For those of you who have commented that the Bald Guyz Moisture Gel and Shave Gel are too runny, what do you have to compare them too? The formulas were created to provide the best results. What you need to do is get used to the consistancy. Don't put the Shave Gel in a shaving cup and whip it up. That totally counteracts that we have a clear gel. I recommend that you experiment with each product until you find what works best for you.

Even though I have been using the HB razor as my main razor lately I have to admit that I love the Bald Guyz products.  I don't really mind the consistency either because it actually helps sooth my scalp better because of how thin it is.  I do admit that it tends to be a bit runny but I have followed the suggested advice and just open it upside down first and then squirt a little in my hands.  I've been back and forth from all the Bald Guyz products to HeadBlade's HeadSlick and HeadLube.  After experimenting with both I have to say the Bald Guyz products definitely rock.  For a few reasons.  For one they basically use all natural ingredients.  #2 - The head wash and deep clean conditioner really help with keeping the scalp healthy.  #3 - the moisturizing gel doesn't leave the dome oily like other products but still does the job on keeping the scalp moisturized.  Another thing I like about the moisturizing gel is that one of the main ingredients in it is aloe vera which is a skin soother.  That alone is reason enough for me to use it as a post shave product.  It also seems to take care of the razor bumps at the same time.  I don't know if this is from some alcohol in the ingredients or what?  But it does give that nice little sting at first when you apply it which is letting you know it's working on those bumps.  Maybe head Bald Guy could answer that one for me?  What is in the moisture gel that helps with the bumps?  Thanks for some great products bro.   O0

I'm currently using the Baldguyz shave gel and I really like.  The clear part took some getting used to.  I squirt it directly on the top of my head and work it in.  Then I reapply water to keep it moist as I'm shaving.

Also love the Moisture gel.. Good stuff.

Don't be so hypersensitive. You know we've all tried other products for shaving. It's not like nobody in this forum has ever shaved before. We like what we like, and we know what's runny,  and what's not.  So what's the problem?  Either you make a thicker formula, or you stop worrying about customer complaints.

You can't have it both ways.

Hey, hey head bald guy.  I know I don't have to tell you this but definitely don't change a thing with your products.  Which I know you will not anyway being the head of the company you know there are plenty more devoted users than non-users.  I just wanted to put my plea in there anyway because I understand the reasoning behind the way your product is made and I, as I'm sure as well as many others, wouldn't want you to change a thing because of a few complaints.  Since using the Bald Guyz product line my shaved dome has been healthier than it's ever been.  Once again, don't change a thing.  Well, the only thing I could suggest is for you to come out with your own style of head razor.  One that maybe is more merciful on the noggin.   O0

I see nothing that needs to be changed with this product. The consistency is fine, and it really works into the scalp well and feels great. Kudos to BG'z products.

Hi Lance,

There is no alcohol in our Moisture Gel. The little sting you get is because your ski is irritated from the act of shaving and when you apply our combination of skin soothers, moisturizers, vitamins, aloe, green tea etc, you feel a little sting as it soothes the skin.

We have no plans to chage any of our formulas as they are exceptional!

Thanks for all of your nice comments!

Hey Warhawk,

Wrong...wrong...wrong.....a hand wipe uses isopropyl alcohol to remove the grease and oils from the hands. This is VERY drying to the skin. A baby wipe uses cleansers and moisturizers that leave a residue on the skin.

A Bald Guyz Head Wipe is made from spun lace so it is soft. We use a moisturizing alcohol to remove the dirt and oils and add a very light moisturizer in green tea. Our Head Wipes contain just the right amount of liquid so it cools as it dries and does not leave a residue.

Check em out, and you will see a big difference.

Warhawk, I think you should give them a try, bro. You may even catch them on sale at Walgreen's.
I picked them up when I first shaved (actually before my first shave), and I think they are excellent.

Very refreshing on the dome, especially after a hard day of work or being outdoors and in the sun.
They are soothing and cooling, and there is no stinging as with an alcohol based product.

Like HBG said, they have just the right combo (not too wet), so it goes on moist, but dries quickly and leaves you feeling clean and smooth.
Give em' a go, I bet you'll like the clean feel.    O0

WH, try 'em out bro, they rock, along with the shave gel & moisturizing gel.  I've been using the Bald Guyz products exclusively for the past 2 months and I've decided that I'm not going to try anything else - their products have really cleared up my problem areas and my razor blades do tend to last longer, which is great since I use Mach III or Fusion regularly.

My main prob with HB's Headlube is that even with a small amount it takes forever to blend in. I'm afraid I might miss some in the back and look like I just got done filming a gay porn with a blind guy.

OMG, I'm going to have trouble getting that visual out of my head now!!! :*))

HBG, thanks bro that was quick!!! I received my parcel yesterday and loved them both. I posted my review in the Bald Guyz review thread.

Let me know if you guys ever want to expand here into Australia. I'll gladly be an Agent and sell your products! There would be a large market for you to tap into. Currently there are ZERO products sold in stores that are aimed at bald people. HB only sell their Classic razor in a few outlets.

Ok so while I was stuck in Denver, there were only two highlights to my stay there. One was getting to meet and hang out with the Robmister ( a very cool SLY guy )
The seccond was getting my hands on some more Bald Guyz products, so here is my evaluation.

1)Bald Guyz Wash & Shampoo:
At first I thought hey I'm bald.... why do I need a shampoo???
Well let me just tell you that as I said before that I am a sink shaver,
so after  shaveing my head, I jumped into the shower and grabed the
Bald Guyz Wash & Shampoo I applied it as per the directions, and as
expected it had the same great smell as the other Bald Guyz products
I tried, it felt good on my head and it worked very well.

2) Bald Guyz Deep Cleanser & Conditioner:
Again it had the same great smell, that I realy enjoy in all the other
Bald Guyz  products, and after following the directions I thought
that it too seem to work rather well, my head did not feel tight or dry and
                                                      looked and felt great.

3) Bald Guyz Moisture Gel:
This moisture gel does exactly what it says it does, although I do not get
razor burn on my head, I do tend to get it on my face, mainly around my neck
if I over do it, but I also usually get dry skin on my chin as well, and the
Bald Guyz Moisture Gel helps to get rid of that dry flakey skin and the razor
                                                      burn.

Now I cannot honestly say that any (one) of these products in particular made a big difference by themselves ( with the exception of the Moisture Gel). However I can tell you that in useing these products in combination, did a fantastic job, my head never felt better. My head was incredibly smooth and did not feel greasy at all, and although my wife is not a big fan of me shaveing my head. When I finnaly got home from my trip, even she commented on how smooth and soft my dome felt.
So bottom line I am sold on Bald Guyz products and for my dome they will be my product of choice to keep my bald head looking its best.  O0

I picked up a tube of the Moisture Gel ... and it's definitely a difference from HeadLube. I like that it blends in right away and doesn't smear around all white-looking like HeadLube.

just tried the Ultimate shaving thing, n i love it!
not sure if its a side effect of it but i used it 2 days ago and my head stayed smoother longer and has actually never been that smooth before!!! Excellent product, just severe lack of places to buy it from here in the UK. No where that i know of in my town (oxford), picked mine up at Boots in cambridge.

Hey Guv,

Thanks for the nice words about Bald Guyz Shave Gel. We just started selling in the UK at about 300 Boots stores and hope to add more locations soon. Glad you like our products. The Shave Gel is designed to get a closer shave to last longer. This also means you get more shaves from a blade.

I have used Bald Guyz products for some time. My Father In Law used to distribute them and he gave me some samples as I was the first person who came to mind when he got them.

Since then I have been using their products religiously.

The head wipes are my favorite, they are amazing! Very nice after working in the yard  or just as a freshen up.

I am also a huge fan of the Sunblock. I burned my head once years ago and will never do it again.

It is nice to have products that are actually made for a bald head instead of the hit and miss of adapting other products to do the job.

My Thoughts on the rest of the Bald Guyz Product Line:

Well, I received my package (The Complete Bald Guy) about a week ago... which included one of everything, plus a cool t-shirt!!  Now, I have been a big proponent of the stuff that I had previously used (Moisture Gel, Deep Cleaner, and Head Wipes), and after this week, I'm once again impressed...

Bald Guyz Wash & Shampoo

I thought to myself, I'm bald, what do I need this for?  Well, it is quickly replacing my normal head/face wash (Nivia Energizing Scrub) for daily cleansing.  I use Bald Guyz on days when I don't shave and it's good stuff.  The scent is very similar to the rest of the product line, a crisp citrusy smell (and being the parrothead that I am, any tropical type smell is A-OK in my book!)  The product lathers up on both stubble and skin rather nicely and leaves my head and face feeling very clean.

Bald Guyz Shave Gel

What can I say!  Another grand slam in my book!  However, as I first started to shave with the gel, I was starting to wonder what everyone was talking about.  The first few strokes of the razor seemed to drag and not give a smooth shave at all.  BUT... as I continued to shave, the shave got smoother and smoother until it was almost like running an ice cube over a teflon board.  I figured out, for me at least, that once I put the shave gel on, I have to give it about a minute or so to really work.  Since that first shave, I put the gel on and then stand in the piping hot shower for another minute before I start to shave... this makes the first pass with my razor silky smooth!  That could be considered a minor inconvenience to some, but I'm not complaining at all.  Add in that citrus smell, and I'm alllll good!

The only product that I haven't tried yet is the sunscreen.  I will be tomorrow though because I'm heading out to the golf course to get one last round in before it gets too cold!  I'm sure that the sunscreen will be another great product though.

Overall, I am very impressed with the Bald Guyz product line and intend to keep on using them.  Now if we could just get them in some retail stores in Northern Illinois, I'd be really happy!!
