Hey guys, well... at the age of 27 i've finally decided to cave in to the inevitable. It's been a pretty slow decline..or fast coming incline depending on which angle you're looking from lol! but after years of being a long haired rocker tonight is my last night with my hair. It's receeding pretty bad as well as thinning noticably and it's got to the point where I won't leave the house without a baseball cap so it's got to go!
i'll do a before and After *don't let the angle fool you if I moved the curtains the hairline goes waaaaay farther back and notice how the crowns cut off ;) that's some selective editing right there!*
ya'll seem a real friendly bunch looking forward to talking to you.

Welcome aboard and have fun!! You'll love it. 8)
-
cheers buddy! To be honest I think the most daunting part is the transition in look from long haired rocker to bald as i'm also short stocky and tattoo'd up so it'll be interesting.
-
Go for it. You'll love your new look. You'll love the feel of your new look even more.
-
it actually helps quite a bit browsing the forums and seeing guys that kinda look like you and have similar features so you can sort of gauge how you'd look. But I shall post a Sly pic tomorrow! and this has to actually be the most positive place on the net i've been in well over ten years fantastic community think i'll stick around.

Agreed. This forum is great place if you want words of encouragement.
Take it from me, going sly could well turn out to be among the best personal makeovers you'll give yourself. And provided you shave your head clean every day or two, you'll start each day with same great look.
-
Good luck - keep the face fur and see if you like the combination of a shaved head with facial hair.
Either look around the forum for advice or ask away - we're here to answer your questions and provide support.
You'll love the look and feel of your smoothly shaved head. Stick with it for 30 days and you'll never want to go back to having hair.
-
welcome!
-
thanks for the kind messages and encouragement guys! All stand up dudes

Buzz it down with clippers. Then take the razor to it. Take your time with the razor to avoid nicks or cuts the first few times, till you get used to it.
Then put on a smile and enjoy the new look (and feel). I think you'll find that taking care of the long hair is much more work that shaving bald!
Looking forward to the new pictures. Welcome to SBG.

I too went from long haired, tattooed, rocker to bald. Granted I did shave down for a few weeks before, but trust me, it's who you are not the hair on your head that makes you a badass.
-
hey and welcome.
rock for life...though I'm bald :)
-
waiting for shops to open to go buy clippers/witchhazel and fresh razors. And agreed you can still look badass, Scott Ian,Kerry King,Phil Anselmo all look awesome bald...i'd rather embrace that than hiding and procrastinating to the point I end up looking like Devin Townsend before even he caved...
-
Let it go brother ... You're making the right decision and won't regret it. It will look cooler than ever.
-
There we go guys! I bit the bullet and actually feel a lot better, Nicked myself a few times as was a bit tentative but i'm sure as I get more confident shaving it i'll be fine nothing required glue or staples to fix haha!
-
Looks great! How do you like it?
We all get a few nicks at first. You'll develop a shaving routine that works best for you pretty quickly. And if you're like most of us, you'll look forward to the shave and the awesome smooth look and feel that result.

i'm actually really happy with it luckily my head shape suits my image! already told people it'll probably take them a lot longer to get used to then it will for me although tomorrow nights going to be fun, got a buddy's stag do but i've pre empted.... anyone touches my head will be met with the response
"awwww, did you feel it kick??"
-
Very fitting. Nothing to complain about. Your head shape is excellent for sly.
-
Congratulations it looks great! 8)

-
JD, The look is you! Much better look.

Looking good bro. I started the 30 day thing a while back, forgotten the date but it doesn't matter anymore. Can't remember having hair now. Feels great for quite a while after shaving, then the sandpaper sets in and I can't wait to do it again. Shaving took the best part of twenty minutes in the sink to start with, but now it's about 3 minutes in the shower, the best place to shave in my opinion.
-
oh what I wouldn't give to have a shower got a bath only unfortunately, but since it's only day 1 i'm sure i'll get used to growth patterns and get a routine in place myself. And it took me ages to do it earlier but again that'll come, it does feel a whole lot better and the response from people on here + my friends has been really uplifting! i've had one friend "OMG what have you done" me, but I explained i'd rather do it by choice then live with crap hair and have a complex about it which swung her round.

Looks great!

Welcome to our world. Wasn't so hard crossing over to the world of sly. :)
-
actually it wasn't difficult at all, I think it's because I knew it sorta had to be done for the sake of peace of mind and again thank you you dudes are awesome, doubt there's anywhere else around that makes people feel so welcome and chilled out

Can totally relate to what you are saying.
I wanted to shave clean. Fed up of thinning grey hair. Went bald for a few days - just to see.
But the guys on this forum encouraged me to keep the sly look. Well, nearly two months later ...
-
haha I had the grey too even at 27 I hit the trifactor, Grey,Thinning and Receeding think my gene pool coulda used a little more chlorine!
But I get you with the two months thing, like I know they say about the 30 day trial but i've pretty much got my mindset that this is my look from now on. Even if I wanted to grow it back it'd still be just as patchy in the same places and i'd end up at square 1. But that's just my personal take on it obviously everyone is different some guys won't take to it quite as easily, think it helps that i've lived a life of extremes so it's sorta become the status quo to adapt to massive changes very quickly
-
Going grey at 27 ? Thought I was bad going grey in my mid 30s. You beat me to it ! But not grey anymore !!
Sounds like you have the right mind set for your new look.
Keep the forum posted with your shaving routine. As you enjoy your new look, it's the routine which become the thing. Choice of razor and all the stuff which you can buy and use to keep your bald appearance looking in great shape.

Will do! need to get new/better razors these cheapy ones are alright for my face but cack for my head I may just buy a bag of bic's for £1

You've earned those grey hairs, but you've shaved them away.
I recommend the HeadBlade razor. http://www.headblade.com/ Been using this everyday for the last 6 weeks. It's a razor with wheels, and you drive it over your head. If you're in the UK, you can order online via Amazon or elsewhere. For best result, use it with the HeadBlade slick.
If you live in London, like me, you can pick all this stuff at Carter & Bond. http://www.carterandbond.com/. Their shop is near Paddington. And on my way home. You give 'em a call, say what you want, then go over and collect. They'll appreciate new bald custom. :)

looks way better, better keep it smooth
