Title: Does anyone else have dry scalp?
Post by: jimbo48 on March 12, 2012, 06:24:48 PM
My scalp is dry.  It has to be rubbed down with skin lotion or aloe vera to keep it from flaking.

What is the best thing to do for dry flaking scalp?

Just keep it moisturized as you're doing.  You might also want to think about switching to another shaving cream.  What you're using now may be drying your skin out too much.

You might also consider getting a loofah pad at Wal-Mart and use that to scrub the noggin in the shower before you shave.  It will take off some of the excess skin cells before they can flake.  Just start lightly and build up to a good scrub--it really invigorates the scalp.  A good non-oil based balm, like Nivea Extreme Care might also keep the skin soft yet not greasy and oily.

I've had issues with dry scalp until joining the forum a few months back. I wash with either Noxzema or Dove soap even if I don't shave (I shave on average every third or fourth day). It keeps my scalp from itching with is a key sign of dryness.

Dry scalp , Sir Harry , maybe use a shampoo in the shower with a conditioner , consider cocoa butter , i found that useful . Or even shave with shaving oil , it works and keeps the skin in tact as well as a fantastic shine
