Title: Harvesting and planting today.
Post by: mrzed on March 08, 2012, 06:59:18 PM
Today I harvested two pounds of turnips and radishes from the garden. Plus a nice handful of kale. Put some of the turnips in the soup for dinner.  Wife says turnips had a strong taste when she was young, but these are tender and sweet and most excellent.

turned over soil and planted peas, beets, kale, spinach, bibb lettuce, turnips and I think a few more things I've forgotten.

Noted that previously planted peas and beets are sprouting.  Oh, Swiss chard is planted, too.

Rosemary is blooming in the garden. Other perennial herbs returning to life, oregano, thyme, lemon balm, St. John's wort and green onions.

I love gardening.

We will be having the warmest day of the year so far tomorrow, it is supposed to be 61! Generally around Mothers day is when we start planting around here. I went out today and the ground is thawed out for maybe 1/2" on the surface, the rest is solid

The ground never freezes here in North Carolina. I like it because I can have something going in the garden all year long.
