Hey guys... I'm back to bald and found this place "accidentally" I was actually looking for a product that moisturizes & has a stronger SPF rating than 15 (I have fair skin)... anyway, Google pulled up a topic from here, and now I'm a member :P
I started shaving my head in the Marines. Stupid me signed a contract that allowed the Marines to give me any job THEY wanted... I ended up as a refueler. Anyway, once I got to Cherry Point (my first duty station), being the low man on the totem pole I got all the crap. One of the things was my platoon Sgt. CONSTANTLY gave me grief about my hair cut. it got to the point that I was in the barber chair every 3 days just to keep him off my back... Well, when i realized how much I was spending on hair cuts, I gave in and shaved my head.
2 years later I got transfered to 29 Palms where I grew out my hair and went with the standard "High & tight." I was 23 at the time & I noticed that I was starting to develop a bald spot on the crown of my head. So instead of dealing with the "baseball cap toupee" or spending a fortune at HCM, I went bald again.
Well I got out of active duty & joined the Marine Reserves in 01. I continued to shave my head until 03 when I spent 8 months in Iraq. Basically I stopped shaving my head there because I never knew when I'd get a care package with new blades & shaving cream.
Well, due to a training accident, I basically tore every ligament in my left knee... thus ending my military career... After the surgery & rehab, I came home to Phoenix where I met Tiffany... Well, she met me with hair, so when I shaved, she threw a fit... needless to say, hair grew back (the things we do for love). Well 3 1/2 years and one messy break up later... I am back to the Chrome Dome Club...
Why do I shave? Honestly, because i like the look... that and being 29, I feel I am WAY to young to have a Friar's patch for a hair style
Great site guys, I hope to learn from you all...
And I will post a pic once I figure out how to get my web cam to take a still photo.

The story behind my name... lol
OK, here it goes. As you can tell by my pic, I'm your run of the mill white guy. Well, my father is from Puerto Rico, so I ended up with the Last name of Valdes.
Well, in Boot camp, my Senior Drill Instructor named me "Bob" because I was to white to have a Hispanic name.
A few months later, we were on the Rifle range when a tropical storm came on shore... I shot like crap that day... this caused one of my DI's to say that if I shot like that in war, I'll be a "Deadbob".
Well the name stuck because EVERYPLACE I was stationed, there was someone from my boot camp platoon that remembered the nick name.. After a while I just gave in and accepted it

Welcome to SBG, brother. You misspelled bald in the title.
