Hey Alll...Been a "long haired country boy" since I was a teen. Always knew the day would come when I would shave my head. Receding hairlines and thinning hair run in my family, and I am not a comb-over or toupee kinda guy...Took the plunge a couple of days ago...I'm lovin it...HOWEVER...I have the clumsiness, hyperness, and attention span of a boxer pup with a sugar rush... At some point, I may put a razor to my head, but for now I am more confident with an electric. I read through about 10 pages of the what razor do you use topic...Only 3 or 4 who use electrics. I have an old Norelco Advantage at present...Any suggestions for a new electric, or a list of the best electrics for the dome that I can choose from...would be greatly appreciated...BTW, really glad this resource exists...SBG rocks.

Welcome aboard and enjoy. 8)
You look great sly.
I would recommend the Panasonic ES-LA63 Wet/Dry shaver.
It does a very nice job. Not as close as a blade but very smooth. You can use it in or out of the shower also.

I have not used an electric razor since I was about 20 or so. Approaching 60, that's 40 years ago. Sorry no recommendations. I love the multi-blade razors.
Welcome. You embrace the sly look well.

Welcome.

welcome Terry!

welcome and congratulations.

Thanks for all the welcomes and for the electric shaver recommendation. Call me old fashioned, even cheap, but I'll invest in a butt load of blades, lubes, lotions, etc., and risk a few nicks getting the shaving process down before I spend $300 on a friggin electric shaver :Xo!

I know that many guys here swear by the HeadBlade. I would recommend that you give it a try, also they make a good cream for the head called HeadSlick. I personally don't like the HeadBlade but it's still worth a try, in my view, if you're looking for another alternative to the electric shaver. I would also recommend a badger hair brush and Taylor of Old Bond Street shaving creams.

Personally, go for a Hydro 5, some gel or Headslick if you can find it, and put it on with a brush over some oil, like baby oil--but first a nice hot shower and use up some of that left over shampoo and leave the conditioner on. Take it slow--it's not a race. Enjoy!

Also another shaving lotion that you can use if you can't find HeadSlick is Kiss My Face. Whole Foods Markets, Rite Aid and natural food section at Kroger related stores carry it!

Welcometo the Forum!!

You can get the electric for much less than $300.
I've been using the Gillette Fusion and having very good results.
-
Welcome! I swear by the headblade, although the blades are not very easy to get over here.
-
Welcome Terry, good to have you join us. I suggest you stick with the HeadBlade, should you decide to use one. Give yourself time to become used to how it works. I am a big fan, and think it's the best tool for shaving the dome.
If you follow the instructions and go slow, you should have no problem. Enjoy the forum.

Thx again for all the welcomes...I currently have a post in the beginners forum with a couple of questions...

Welcome. I decided to try the Panasonic ES8243. I think it takes waaayyyy longer than using a blade and it does a way crappy job. I use it dry for touch ups if I don't do so well in a particular area.
