Title: Day 1
Post by: HairDew on March 02, 2012, 12:46:42 PM
I've been contemplating shaving my head for the last couple years.  Thanks for this forum and the many contributors who have indirectly assisted me in my decision.  Today I will begin the first of 30 days by taking a long ride on my V-Star to aid in overcoming the contrast of my neck and head color.  I think once my head is tanned I maybe a life long chrome dome die hard.

Welcome aboard and enjoy.  8)

I'm jealous because it's still to cold and the sand and salt aren't washed off our roads for me to ride yet.  >:(

I agree don't rush the tan. If you get fried it'll hurt like heck to shave. Wear some sunscreen. The tan will come in time our you can get it out of a bottle for now.

Hey hairdew,

Congratulations on taking the razor to the dome.  For some reason I can't see your pic, but I am sure you look great as a baldie.  Hope you stick with it.

Welcome--dont't rush the color, it will come with time.  And wear a helmet, mine saved me this morning in a mishap, helmet is a mess, but my dome is fine.

The front of my head is sort of tanned since I didn't have much hair (I'm 41) but the back of my head is lily white and in need of color but I will definitely heed all of you're experienced warnings and wear sun screen so I don't look like a fire hydrant at the end of the weekend.

Thanks again for the advice and encouragement.

Congratulations on taking the plunge with the razor.  And welcome to the SBG forum.

My sly journey started 28 days ago and enjoying every minute.  And the scalp is now taking some colour, too.

Rick, I've been watching your post for a few days and it's time to say Welcome.

Your shaved head looks fantastic.  I'm still pretty new at this, moving into my 7th week of being bald.  The 30 day rule is an excellent one. I recommend.  By the end of the month, head shaving will be a habit.

Wear the bald head with pride.  And support the other guys who do the same.

Just had a brief encounter last night with a bald guy.  There was the friendly 'nod' of confirmation that "I notice that you too are bald. Great isn't it." (never me the guy before, but theres a connection).

Agree with Mr Zed on both counts: your shaved head looks terrific. And also, the shaving is becoming a habit. Can't leave the house without a freshly shaved head.  :)

HairDew looking good!  O0
On the tanning, most of us have been there.  :o You may want to consider a tanning product.  My standard is Jergen's Natural Glow.  There are a number of products listed in the products review section of this forum.  I found one on Natural Glow Express, if you're in a hurry to blend the pale skin.  :)

Also, listen to Saintc.  Please keep your melon protector on when you ride.  When I started riding years ago, I asked someone how much I should spend on a helmet.  The response I got was "how much is your life worth".  I went out and got a really good one!  O0

How long it will take for your skin tone to even out depends on your complexion.  Mine seems to take long because I don't tan very easily.  Don't get discouraged if it take some time.  You look good - Welcome to the club!

OH YEAH, what I forgot to mention...

I love waking up and not having to comb my hair, I like getting out of the shower and not combing my hair, I like rolling the windows down in my truck and not combing my hair, I like getting off my mountain bike and not combing my hair, I like getting off my motorcycle and not combing my hair, I like going swimming and not combing my hair, I like having sex and not worrying about combing my hair, I like the way I look and I dont have to comb my hair.

Too those considering it...  Just do it.  Be confident and enjoy the reactions and remember theres no need to buy an expensive baseball cap to make you feel better.

Looks good on you. My colour took a couple of weeks because I was working inside nearly all day, but its fine now. I've got a really red neck shock is not so cool, from carrying camera bags/cases for thirty years, glad I'm not in the states or I'd be a real redneck. Maybe this summer it will blend in a bit better than usual.
