I've gone sly for a month already, and it seems that I've received more comments/compliments on the beard than my bald head. Then again, I don't know if it has also been because I have let my beard grow a little longer during the past month.
Is it just me?
-
it looks good!
-
Likely the sly head focuses attention on the beard. Looks good.
-
I learned that when you have nice facial hair, it will normally complement your smooth dome. So let us all take advantage of having nice facial hair if we can grow it (not becoz we want to hide our baldness) and use it to match our head with confidence... Good day to you brods.

I've been full-time sly almost four years....but I never started growing a beard until late 2009 (when I was injured) and it was mostly chinstraps. This has been the thickest beard I've grown to date(shaved it off Friday for drill), a couple of my bowling friends complemented me on the beard, but they were already used to me being bald.
-
If my beard is short, people have not noticed my beard more than my bald head. But when I grew it out to the length that is in my avitar, then it has gotten notice. The longer the beard is, the more it will be noticed. Especially if you have a sly noggin!
-
Actually to some people who've gotten past my shaved head(been 1 year now), notice my beard if I do grow it out. I think as a Bald guy your head compliments your beard more than anything. Keep it grown, good look on you! :D
-
When I grew my goatee it got more comments than when I shaved my head. That may be because some people may be reluctant to comment on hair loss or baldness because they might be afraid of causing offense. Of course, there are plenty of other people who have no such reservations! ;)
-
hey. your avatar is looking good.
about your questions, it means you don't live among of idiots who will play a negative part in your life.

Think you are right !
Like you, getting more comments about the beard than when I went bald.
Beard is really growing on me. Both as a look and as as beard !
-
Definitely get more attention because of my beard. Several people call me 'Tombstone', or 'True Grit', yet I don't have any bald nicknames.
-
yes.
-
same to me. I get more comments on my beard than my bald head.
-
If people notice your beard first it's because it's pretty bad ass man. My only suggestion to somehow "blending" the two together would possibly to fade it in from the side burns rather than a very defined shave point.
-
For me, the beard comments and compliments just keep flowing my way. Lost count.
Only this lunchtime, a colleague with a excellent goatee which I really admire, turned to me and exclaimed "Great beard !". Feel like I've just been promoted to the 'inner circle.'
So into the beard that I keep forgetting I'm completely bald !!!
-
Mr Jules you've now got a really fine beard to be proud of. It really does complement your bald head so well. O0

Thank you. Frankly, I've been delighted with the results. Latest pic is beard 3 weeks in.
Four months ago, I was another regular middle age guy with thin grey hair and a clean shaven face. I look so different now.
-
Have had heaps of comments today about my beard!
Several people just today said is something different?? ... Like a I haven't been bald for ages? This beard just didn't pop up over night lol
-
When out and about, definitely think the bald & beard look is getting glances from other people. Either they think it's striking or they think I'm lunatic !

You might be right. Funny how changing your appearance might change people's view of you.
4 months ago, I had hair and clean shaven face. Now look !

Let me explain my opinion from a different perspective. I teach elementary P.E. with students ages 5-9 years old. I always get comments on my bald head but rarely about my beard. Kids always ask me if I buff or shine my head. I always tell them I use turtle wax.
-
Ran into someone I hadn't seen in a long time. She went on and on about my eyes. Didn't even mention my shaved head. Just asked me if my eyes were always so beautiful and what I had done to enhance them. Nothing but shave my head. :XX

Well today, my manger's manger's manager (pretty high up in the company) walked by my desk and gave my beard a random rub.
Not sure what to make of that one !

I'd take it as a compliment!

I'd take it as a compliment!
Think I will !
But Mr Zed, nobody comments amount my sly looks anymore. Sometimes, even I forget I'm completely bald. So upset. ;)
-
Mr. Jules, I wouldn't be too upset about your beard being noticed than your bald head (both do look well on you) It's just human nature to fawn over something that's new....My cousin had two kids 16 months apart. Everyone was fawning over kid 1 until kid 2 came along, and then kid 1 became an afterthought (not to the parents of course). Think about this...There's many ways to wear a beard, but only one way to wear sly!

Fine words there, Sir Harry12.
Post of the day. :)

When i do grow my beard i get allot of positive complements.

I get alot of beard comments... more than bald comments. I've always had a buzzed/sly head so I don't know how'd this compare to if I had a full head of hair. The beard comments make me chuckle... but it's funny, in my circle of friends there are really only two sides about my beard...big supporters and all out haters. No one is indifferent. It's just a beard, people. Lol. Some people joke about my need to shave EVERY TIME I SEE THEM.... others remind/encourage/flat out demand that I NOT shave. Just makes me chuckle.

With that beard, not surprised. :)
Mind you, the more I grow my beard, the more I like it. Great contrast with the bald head.
-
What I've noticed is that people generally pay little attention to the way I look, thankfully their eyes are not so discerning. I worked with some girls for about 10 years with a full beard. When I shaved the beard off leaving only a mustache they said, "You grew a mustache, it looks good!" I just said thank you.

@Coltsfan
Dude, That is one of the biggest, bushiest beards I have seen. I think it looks pretty aewsome!
-
that is an immense beard! that would give Brian Wilson a run for his money!
-
by the way Slick A - you look presidential in that pic...i'd vote for you!
