Title: Mardi Gras--It's a Special Thing for our City
Post by: D.A.L.U.I. on February 24, 2012, 07:07:28 PM
Many times I've referred to our famous celebration, Mardi Gras.  This past Carnival Season shows why that festival really expresses what I love about our town.  I'm particularly happy that a friend of my eldest daughter is a regular with the 610 Stompers. they're the guys in the red jackets & white sweat bands--they were a surprise in the Macy's T-day parade.

As a Native New Orleanian, I went to parades a lot in my younger days...but as I got older and then the K-thing struck (I was overseas when it happened). I was forced to move (slightly) away. I found a job up the road, but due to swing shifts, I didn't get to any parades this year...I do enjoy taking out-of-town friends and family though, maybe next year I'll do a parade or two.
