Title: My 30 days are up
Post by: AgeTwentyTwoBaldy on February 23, 2012, 12:24:43 PM
30 days ago I embarked upon my first ever journey into the world of the sly. I was apprehensive at first as I ran that razor over my dome for the first time. As one week passed, then two, then three... I realized that the sly look was meant for me. I've never felt like a stronger, more confident person at any point in my life. I encourage anyone who is afraid to shave their head to do the same 30 day challenge I just did. You may not like it at first, but once you get a good shine going and people compliment your looks, I have very little doubts that you will want to stay sly for good.

Since I'm a student on a very large college campus, my experience is/was probably different than a lot of you. As I looked around I did not see that many other bald men, but I felt that this gave me an advantage. I have become a very recognizeable figure. Walking down the street, through the dorm rooms, through the dining area, to classes, and everywhere I go, people instantly see me. My shiny head commands attention, and the guy wearing it oozes swagger.  O0

I want to thank all of you guys for your continued support, and I want to say that I am now officially part of the sly fraternity, as WARHAWK would say!   O:O

Congratulations on your first 30.  8)

Have you seen any others going sly since you inspired them?

Congrats on hitting 30 days.  It went fast, didn't it?  While you haven't seen many bald guys on campus, you may be the trendsetter - someone has to be!

Excellent attitude! I don't know that I would of been so cool with it at age 22. The months will become years and the feeling of having a "swagger" will not lesson.

Thanks for the kind words, gentlemen. I think I did inspire one person to shave his head. He said he was supposed to this weekend and then come talk to me after.

I will be sure to post up a new picture some time within the next few days. I have to be in the right mood for pictures, though, otherwise I just look uncomfortable in them.  O0

Congrats. I just realized yesterday that I missed my 60 day by over a week.  I guess that means that it has just become part of who I am now.

Good job, it really does look good on you.

Nearly my turn to reach the 30 days, too.

Currently 21 days into the sly look. In the last few days, noticed my scalp toughening up - those razor burns have almost cleared up. And I've got myself I nice little collection of head shaving products - I display them in my bathroom with pride, like star exhibits in a museum.   :)

I know what you mean, Mr Jules. Now that I have a shaving brush, I proudly display all of my shaving products in my bathroom.

Oh.. glad it's not just me then. This whole head shaving business is turning into quite an enjoyable daily hobby, isn't it ?

You are really getting into the sly quickly and buying all the stuff to go with it. Quite the professional sly. And your latest profile pic shows just how much you're enjoying the new look. Keep it up.

And the shiney look, too. I'm sticking to matte at the moment, but you could change my mind !

Day 23 for me...

You should try the shiny look at least for a while. To be safe, stick out your first 30 days with the same routine you've been doing, then make any changes later on.  O0

Wise words. Thanks for your advice.

Sticking with HeadBlade matte moisturiser for the time being. Then try the HB 'gloss' finish in the next month or so.

Can't wait for my 30th daily shave. Mission accomplished.

Great post! Keep it up my fellow college sly! And it's true! You definitely stand out on a campus when you rock that clean look.

Both Jules and Matt have commanding profile photos!  For newly bald guys, you look like pros.

I WISH I would have shaved my head when I was in college!

So do I.  It was still relatively uncommon when I was in college and I still had most of my hair in those days, though the recession at the hairline had already started, so there was no real "need" to do it. But looking back, it would have been better to have gotten the entire hair loss issue resolved at a much younger age while still in a safe zone.  It would have saved me about 15 years of agonizing over a thinning mane.  Today's college generation is fortunate -- being completely bald at 22 is not a problem at all.    :)

So it's not just me who loves being out and about, and carrying that striking look ?

In the last few weeks, noticed people I've only briefly met before saying hello to me. There's only one way they could have remember me. You don't forget the bald look, do you ?

PS ... this morning, discovered London's only Headblade stockist - Carter and Bond. Just 20 mins bike ride from my home. So took the plunge and got some Headblade Gloss moisturiser for that shinier look.

Hey Jules and Twentytwo,

Headblade lube is an awesome product.  I used the matte at first and it did a great job.  For about a year now I've been using the glossy and I love the look.  Keep the domes shiny!

Congrats on your anniversaries.

Headblade lube is an awesome product.

Totally agree with you. I really like the gloss HB lube now for that shiny look. Despite what they say, there is a slightly greasy feel after you apply it - so I tend not rub my head afterwards ! Now that I have both the matte and gloss HB lubes, it's good to have options.

Day 27 for me - only 3 days to go. Now that I'm nearly a month into the sly look, it's good to have the same bald appearance every day. If I had let my hair grow, by now it would have been a grey threadbare mess.

Thanks to everyone for the encouraging words.  :)
