total newbie but the site has helped make the decision immeasurably and want to say thank you for all the terrific info and inspiration!
so is it worth getting an electric shaver? I have a strong stubble on face and head and having with blade stilll shows noticeable stubble so maybe a not perfect elec isnt going to be much different - is the newest, most expensive panny the best?
thx!

I've been using Panasonics for several years and I'm sold on them...my newest Panny is their "Lima Alpha-63" it's their best work so far...it makes my head slick enough to slide on barb wire.

Welcome!
I can't speak from experience on which electric is the best, but I just can't get my hands around the idea that an electric razor can give you a closer shave than a blade.

Me, too. I can't believe that an electric would be smoother than a blade for beard or head. Blades do differ from one company to another. The 3-5 blade styles seem to do very well for me in terms of smoothness and speed.
And I really like the head blade for the noggin' although not all agree. You'd have to give it a try. They are a sponsor on this site, i.e. if you use the ad links to place an order, you get a discount and SBG get some cash to pay for the site.

Is this it? And do you wet shave or dry shave with it?

That's the one I use. Works great for me. 😃

I use the Panny both wet and dry depending on how i feel that day. I then go over it with a Fusion. The blade cuts it quite abit closer than the Panny alone.

The fact you have to go over it with a blade after using an electric razor confirms my thoughts on what's closer, a blade or an electric.
Not a criticism, just an observation.

I agree. The only reason I can think of to use an electric is because it's less irritating to the skin. It doesn't cut quite as close but sometimes that's the price that must be paid to avoid breakouts.

Mostly dry.

I use the Panasonic wet and still use a blade to get closer. The electric cuts down on irritation, but for me it doesn't shave as close as I'd like. Since my scalp has toughened up, I use only a blade most days now.
