Title: Geekdom
Post by: MagmaBabe on May 03, 2007, 11:13:34 PM
Okay, karatedragon started it off by saying he's bang into Predator, but I think there's a little geek in all of us, so this thread is for all of you's to admit your geekdom. What is it that you are crazy about? Are you a trainspotter? Do you drive to the airport on a Sunday afternoon just to watch them take off?  :D Is there one thing you know about and like above all else? Time to fess up guys...

(I'll admit, I'm an uber geek when it comes to The Lord of the Rings..I sooo would love to be an elf!)  :-[

Ok, I'm coming out: I'm a total Star Trek fanatic. Not the kind that goes to conventions or wears silly costumes, though.
But I take pride in the fact that I've watched all episodes of each Star Trek series (TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT).
What? These acronyms don't make sense to you? Then rest assured: you're not a Star Trek geek.

(I'll admit, I'm an uber geek when it comes to The Lord of the Rings..I sooo would love to be an elf!)  :-[

Ah, don't worry there. You already kinda look like one... ;)

The Original Star Trek, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, Enterprise.

Yeah, I'm a geek, I also love to read fantasy, David Gemel is my favorite at the moment, writes about heroes.

And MB, I always wanted to be a Ranger, in fact, I'm playing Lord of the Rings online game at the moment and have a Human archer and an Elf champion.

I am a religions Geek... Scapulars, Iconogrophy, beliefs, etc...  That and Bicycles.  If my Schwinn Tat is not enough proof of that.

I admit it, to me the Pope is more a attraction than a Drowning Pool Show/Ozzfest, & I am more comfortable on my Cruiser than I am driving most cars [including Mercedies, Fords, Hondas, Toyotas...].  My Cruiser, the Cadillac of the Bicycle World Baby, with all the Trimmings!  O0

I'm a Harry Potter fanatic. Not so much the books, because my ADD doesn't allow it. I went and saw every movie in the theatre at least 3 times each. Yup, I love Harry Potter.

Also, I LOVE old cheesy horror movies. I could watch them all day long.

So far, I think I have you all beaten. Nearly everything anyone has written here (notably with the exception of star trek) I love. Sad isn't it? Geekdom is great though, there is no other way to live! I'm going to add video games and programming to this list though.

Agreed.  Again, you get used to seeing him without hair and then when you see him with it, it doesn't look right.  His sly days are most likely numbered, though.  He is leaving Smallville after next season and will probably grow his hair back so as not to limit his chances of getting other roles, and to leave the Lex association behind.  Tom Welling has reportedly agreed to return for an eighth season.

Ya John Cleese is a riot but I could never really pin down a favourite.  I think it's a toss up between Cleese, Eric Idle and Michael Palin.

I def. love Seinfeld and Monty Python to the point of nausua but to be different, here is my geekdom side:

I have been involved in every aspect of Radio Control since I have been a little kid....from actually racing and appearing in magazines to building my own stuff and flying/driving them. Ive done everything from cars (all classes), boats, planes, and helicopters...

Here is a picture of me at a nationals event after winning a heat....its from a few yrs ago...and if anyone is wondering=its a serpent 950R, with .21 Novarossi with BRB piston/liner, with 37 tires all around. they go approx. 65 mph.

Ya Benny Hill (Alfred Hawthorne R.I.P.) was a riot too.  The only problem with him was that the show moved so fast, if you didn't speak the language (that wacky brit accent), it was really hard to catch all the jokes.  I think I probably missed 3/4 of the humour unitl I started renting the videos so I could back up and have another go at it.

Hey man, I'm with you...I loved that show.  But I bet I have one that would out geek it, and I also ask people to please not laugh.  :-\  It's Magnum P.I. I loved that show and still do whenever I can catch it.  I was actually thinking of getting the DVD's of the seasons.  I went as far as to put the ringtone on my phone but my wife refused to go out with me if I didn't change it.  I'm also a big Seinfeld fan.  Other than that I use to read nothing but fantasy books.  Mainly by Terry Brooks and R. A. Salvatore.  I lost interest in reading a few years back though.  Don't really know why.

Don't laugh, but I like watching old episodes of Miami Vice...

I have the DVD's form the first 2 seasons...
Then you must have liked the movir " The Wedding Singer " :*))

what's wrong with "Wedding singer?"  ??? I don't get it...
I'm a bit of a goof when it comes to Adam Sandler...I have loads of his films (could say I'm a bit geeky when it comes to him.. :-*) even that appalling "going overboard"..

Easy, easy MagmaBabe...Put the tiger back in the cage.  J/k...But for real, in "The Wedding Singer" the guy that was supposed to marry Drew Barrymore was really into Miami Vice.  He always wore the suits they would wear in the show and always had the theme playing in his car.  Get it now sly sis?

Oh yeah, and by the way it's ok with us to let that tiger out.  I think we all actually like that wild side... >:D

We had a drinking game in college that we had to do a shot everytime a bullet was fired on a Miami Vice episode. Needless to say, the following mornings were brutal... !*u%e

I had never watched any of the CSI's until a couple of months ago.  I ran across it on Spike and I am hooked.  Especially since Spike network plays it nearly 24/7.  I Can't get enough.  I love the original CSI and CSI Miami.  Have not gotten into CSI New York (yet...)

I like WWE too. I hate when people say they dont watch it because it is fake. So is every other TV Show (Other than UFC, and other MMA TV shows) and other movies out there. It is just entertainment.

Hey, froze...if the WWE had an event within 200 miles...I was at it, but have toned down watching once I went back to a ship, knowing how addictive it is...wanted all or nothing! Just don't have the time for it anymore.
