Hi, I've been looking at these types of forums for a while, trying to figure out whether I should shave my head or not. I'm 19 right now in college but I've always had a big forehead and I've had a receding hairline since early on in high school. I'm Chinese if that matters. Thanks

Your pictures don't show thinning hair. And your hairline seems similar to mine (although mine has been stable). Some view it as receding, but receding implies that it changes from month to month in the direction of less hair. That was not my case.
So for me, shaving was my choice. If your hairline really is receding, then you might want to choose to shave your head sooner than later.
Being Chinese, you'll have jet black hair. Shaving now will leave a shadow. Not bad, but it won't be a clear looking as a guy who has no hair there to begin with. Still a nice look.
Bald heads is quite fashionable today, so you won't look out of place. Even more fashionable on campus. Go for it.
If you can find a guy who shaves bald, or has a very short haircut ... notice the change in hair length from week to week. I did this with an elderly gentleman that I know. His barber essentially shaves the back of his head (then a flattop) every two weeks. One week later, the shaved part looks like a #1 buzz and by week two it's already a #2 buzz ... quite a fast hair recovery! So if you don't like it, you can be back with hair in less than one month.
Now ... once you shave your head, you will like it! And you'll want to do it every day and you won't want to go back to hair! Just listen to the guys on this site. Just shave it. Do it now. It's very nice.

Ni howdy, Quan and welcome. I've been to China many times and I am the only Lao wai that walks the streets with a beard, >200# and bald by choice. I draw a lot of attention. Dr. Zed, gives you good advice and I agree that you may like the feeling very much. You don't have anything to loose by trying. Good luck and Xin Nian Kuai Le!

Welcome aboard Quan. You look fine based on the pictures you posted but if you have been entertaining thoughts of shaving your head, I suggest you give it a try, who knows, you might like it and keep it.
As they say, your can still grow your hair back if you don't like being bald. Im Asian (Filipino) and also have black hair but bald by choice.

I don't see any issues with your hair now so shaving would just be your choice. If it's something you would like to try, go for it. The decision will automatically reverse itself if you don't like it.

You look fine as is, but if you are wondering what you will look like bald then there is only one way to find out. To respond to your curiosity, you gotta shave the dome.

The thing is I have a weird head shape; it curves down a bit in the middle, so its not a round head shape

We all have different head shapes, all of which have some degree of weirdness, my guess is that it will not be as bad as you think it is. As most of us are saying...give it a try, since you have been thinking about it already.

Cesar, are you still shaving your head bald? I believe you wrote that you went sly in support of another fellow here ... so don't know if you stuck with it.
By the way, my itch to shave my head has not returned. I've just shaved my head bald every day and the itch has not returned. But I suspect that if I miss a day, the itch to shave will return. The smooth dome feels wonderful each morning. I hope you are shaving your head daily.
