I've always shaved my head from front to back, but today I shaved the back of my head from back to front. This made an incredible difference in the smoothness of the shave. Has anyone else experienced this or am I just now learning what I should have been doing all along?

Oh yea...you get the smoothest shave when you go against the grain (as we say) but it can be irritating to some guys. Good luck.

You shaved it against the grain, and it does make a difference. It can indeed be irritating, at least in the beginning, but use a good shave gel, cream or oil and a good after shave. I use Aloe Vera gels, they also add a nice shine.
I shave every day and must go against the grain, there is only so much stubble after one day

never tried it though:d
I just love the way I do it now!

I might give this a try but I'm quite sensitive at the back/neck so I'm not sure I want to!

I shave in all directions. Different parts seem to need different directions.

like mrzed I shave in all directions. You can get smoother result, by shaving in a particular direction for a particular part of the dome.
