Greetings! My name is Chris and I am 22yrs old. I am currently holding down two jobs and going to school. Life is busy, but I can't complain about good health. I'm also a sort of car enthusiast. I drive an 09 Jetta TDI that I've modded slightly.
My father is black and my mother is Japanese (military brat). As a result, I have what many people refer to as "dat good hair." When I was born, I had what you would typically find on a 100% Japanese boy. Then at some point in diaperhood, it all fell out and grew back differently. I've had everything from bald fades to an afro. All the girls wanted to braid my hair. As a 12yr old boy, all that attention from the ladies was me gusta.
I've been lurking this forum for a few days now and actually chose to mow my head lawn 2 days ago. Honestly, I was sitting at home and was quite bored with myself and thought I'd try something different. I have a condition on the back of my scalp, what I've been told is Alopecia (by my pediatrician when I was younger, not by a dermatologist). Noticed it about 6 Years ago and it gradually worsened. My hair growth became spotty and it seems that I always had pimples on the back of my head. I've done some light reading on the matter and read that shaving your head reduces the amount of trapped oil on the scalp which should lead to less bumps. Not sure if this is true or not, but worth a shot.
Since then, I've been complimented on the shape of my head. I'll be honest, I don't know how to reply to, "Damn dude, the shape of your head is awesome." I am now sporting a fabulously pasty scalp that has all my friends thinking I just bleached my hair from afar.
From what I've seen, the community here looks amazingly friendly. I've known many forums to be sort of cold and critical, to say the least. However, you guys seem to have more worries than forum politics.
tl;dr

Welcome.
I have an oily scalp and I can certainly say having no hair, it definitely is not trapped. I didn't realize how oily it is until I started shaving my head. I have to wash it a couple times a day to get rid of the oil slick.
