Hi folks,
This is a question for everyone but I suppose mostly aimed at the guys who have gone and back from shaving. I shaved my head first in September 2010 and although I do not mind the look and feel reasonably happy with. I received a lot more compliments than I was expecting. I revereted back to having hair again.
The reason I shaved was due to MPB and I am a nw3 (on the norwood scale) and will be sly again at somepoint in my time and especially once the MPB catches up with me further.
Anyone else out there, who's come and gone from sly to hair and so and so for a few years? It seems there are a lot of folk who once have gone sly have not gone back.
Thanks

I'd never go back.
I can not imagine me with hair :O

The longest I've gone with letting my hair grow back is about 3 weeks, and that was due to illness. I would never voluntarily go back to hair!

I have tried to do it but there is nothing left to grow back - - - but a nice "horseshoe ring" in the back
I enjoy being SLY BALD

I ditto Mango.

Shaved my head for the first time over a month ago. Was really unhappy about it, so I decided to grow it out again. After 2 weeks I gave up because what I was growing out looked like sh*t. I currently have a no-guard buzz cut, but I'm somehow feeling ready for shaving it all off again.
I'm sure I don't like myself with longer hair anymore (sheesh, the 30 day rule really applies to anything, you can probably have an unwanted sex change and end up liking it after 30 days :P). But I'm still on the fence about keeping a no-guard buzz cut or shaving my head again. So in the next months I'll probably be going back and forth between the two of them until I decide on what I like more (I'll probably end up with going sly anyways due to the progressing MPB).

I originally shaved my head for a year in my junior year of high school. I liked the look and feel, and got very mixed opinions. I was one of 3 students to shave their heads. After a year of shaving I grew it back. Since then I have shaved my head a few times, only to grow out my hair imediatly after. It has been two years since I've shaved my head...well...until yesturday. I ended up shaving my head, completely unplanned. Afterwords I went to A&F and spoiled myself with two brand new shirts and then two aswome hats (It's cold here in Boston). As of now I'm a bit torn. I love shaving my head, however not a lot of people like it. I also get 6 times more dates when I have a faux hawk or at least a crew cut. So I am on the fence as whether or not I'll stay sly. I've attempted to upload a picture of my current sly look (can you see it?) Opinions apreciated.

I can't see your pic. I have a full head of hair. In the early years of shaving my head, I would grow it out for a couple of months but always go back to shaving smooth. In the last 5 years I have kept it smooth. If you say you are losing your hair to mpb, why prolong the agony, you have been bald before, why not embrace it now? Its all in the attitude, if you are happy and confident with yourself and your choice of hairstyle you will not have a hard time looking for dates. Best regards.

I don't go back...the only time it grows a little is like the last few days after I sliced open my head shaving.

Ok, I'll try to load it again. I actaully have a full head of hair. It's just difficult being told being bald does not suit you all the time.

Great to read so many views on the topic on here :)
I love coming here and reading this website and the positive posts from people. When I first started receding I had a look at other hair websites on the net and some are so negative, full of self-pity and dispair.
Kalbo - superb that you enjoy the sly life. You suit it from the photograph. Looks really good. As for me, I do like the sly hair but I'm using up all my hair before I have to start shaving O:O
I will be back to slydome though. Just right now, I am happy growing my hair in a bit.
When I shaved from September - March. The longest I went without shaving was 2weeks. I was traveling with friends around camping for a month and didn't have as much time to shave.

foodfor4 - Don't stress yourself on what others are thinking, whether they approve or not, bottom line is, it is your head, it is your choice and if you are happy with it, they will learn to accept it
kevin - thanks for the compliment.

Since I can't figure out how to post a pic yet I will put a link to my facebook page just so you can see me sly. The picture was taken today, one day after going back to sly. What do you think?

When I got injured at work in October 2009 resulting in 17 stitches (in the face) and the loss of four teeth (which have since been implanted) I went three weeks. I just had surgery yesterday on the scalp so that shave I did on Sunday the 11th will most likely be the last time I shave the noggin for 2011 :'( O0...but I'll get plenty of chances in '12! O0

I doubt it very much. ::)

Since '05 I've grown hair back 2 maybe 3 times for short periods, but I like it shaved. But there are options and choices for us all.

I'm actually rather wishy-washy. Of late (since some time in the hospital last month) it's kept at #2 guard and I'm OK with that. But there have slick dome times this past fall. I'm OK with that, too. Why this indifference? Well, my hair is (as I've said before in other posts) rather fine and white, and it's mostly temporal recession, no "horseshoe" or bald spot at the apex, and at nearly seventy, that'll never be my fate. No hair? Short hair? Even with hair (kept short), it's not easy to see that I have hair. Would not work for everyone. Your move.

I have a pretty full head of hair - except for a thinning spot in the back that hasn't really changed in 20 years. But I love having a shaved head, so once or twice a year, I shave it and keep it until the maintenance gets tiresome and then I grow some back - still usually a tight buzz.
For me, part of the fun of fully sly is the process of shaving a full head of hair, and another part of the fun is the anger of guys losing their hair, without the balls to go sly, who resent that I shave off hair that they'd kill to still have...
