Hey guys,
Well couldn't sleep and went online and ended up writing this message here. You seem like a friendly bunch. And you're all bald and bearded. I feel like home! :)
So apart from being bald, I run an online private business. Got 2 web sites dedicated to games and that's what I'm living from for abouts 10 years now. But to the important part. Hair started losing me in the past years. I'm over it, though had difficult time adjusting. But anyway I'm pushing the bold + beard looks and I'm still wandering what I could do with the beard. Packed with a long face. Trying to find some good beards in any case... Saw any? >:(
Cheers,
[EDIT] You're not all bearded sorry x)
-
Well, we may not all be bearded, but a good number of us sport some sort of facial fur.
Welcome to SBG!

Welcome to SBGs!!! 8)

Welcome mate :)

Thanks guys. Funny how we're all lined up and bald + bearded. Excuse my enthusiasm about this place ;)
Anybody knows of some spots to find good beard samples?
Thanks,
-
From another bearded baldie to another....welcome! O0
-
hey.
I'm not bearded yet, but I'll be as soon as I can grow a beard :)
welcome to SBGs.
try out a full beard :)

Thanks marshd1000, iRock
iRock, that was my first plan. It's good to hear the same idea from somebody else! Thanks for an open suggestion. O0

Welcome to the brotherhood of the bald..Id like to grow a beard if I could but I can not grow a decent one. Try everything and choose which one you are most comfortable with.
-
Hey kalbo
Well I'm a bit broken beard wise. I did try to get a full beard but it looked funny cause my right side cheek has a normal full beard, and my left cheak has thinner beard and then also a hole at around the middle of it... Bad genes. But gonna give it a go anyway. Wont need to shave for a while at least.
-
Welcome.
You're face isn't that long and you're lucky to have the shape you have because it goes more easily with different facial hair styles or shapes of glasses ( if you need 'em) than say a round shaped head.
Anyway, just experiment with the beard and have some fun with it. If you can grow a full beard, start there. Leave it for a few weeks and than try some different goatee shapes. If your hair grows as complete and fast as mine, you could change you're style every 4 or 5 days. For now, I like the full beard because I don't have to spend time shaping the goatee. The one thing I've never liked on me and have never walked out in public with is the lone mustache. I just look/feel stupid with that thing alone.
-
Thanks
Yeah not too long. Doesn't seem so in the picture. Well... not wearing glasses yet. :)
Yeah gonna go full and see what comes out of it once I start cutting. I've heard people are using beard trimmers to make shades of beard. That's a cool option. New one for me. Guess you can do pretty much anything, course. But getting that maintained is nerve wrecking. Though might not be too hard since it's just shades here and there.
As for mustaches. Yeah, I also feel weird with em. Only once I let em go unshaved and went out. But mhm something about em doesn't feel right on me at least. They weren't solo mustaches. But was with chin beard. And I do wonder what my gf would say to those, kissing wise :-* I think I'll leave those out. Will see.
Thanks for your thoughts guys!

Welcome, Kres7787.
I'd recommend a full beard, if you can grow one. Some guy have spotty facial hair and thus other options look better. But guess I'm partial to the full beard. Had one since 1980. Lived in Alaska and almost everyone had a beard (guys), whether they looked good or not. Wife says, Don't you dare shave it off. I won't know who you are.
-
Hi and welcome,
You'll find a pretty good selection of beard types here. I had a full beard from my early twenties. Kept it full until I turned 70. By then most of it was always looking scruffy. Took it down to a well-trimmed goatee a few years ago. Can't imagine what it would feel like to have no facial hair!
-
Welcome--beards and sly do go well together. As one bald guy put it, without the beard, too much skin! ;D
Take a look at beards.org, it has a lot of information on beard style, growing and trimming, etc. And as for your own personal current ability, stress current, remember the same genes that brought you to sly often are paired with those that provide a great beard potential. Also remember, going sly--20 to 30 minutes, but a beard is patience and often needs three months or more to show it's potential.

Hi Kres7787,
the shaved head suits you very well.
About the beard:
I like what you have in the profilepic. It looks good, but I am prejudice, cause I have the same stile. ;-)
Of course, you can experiment with the full beard, or whatever is possible.
I just wanted to say, that what you have looks good too.
regards

Your head looks good...why not let the beard grow for a couple weeks and design it from that point?

Welcome to Sly Bald Guys
I just grew a Van Dyke and I am sorry I did not do it a long time ago - - -Facial hair, for us baldies, gives us a little character.
-
Hey Kres,
Welcome to the SLY Board. Glad you found us. Beards and Bald Domes are a natural combo.
-
welcome!
i'd also do as suggested, go without shaving for 4-6 weeks, just let it grow, then go from there, experiment and see what suits, i sport a full goatee as you can see in my pic, but im tempted just to shave above my lip and keep it on my chin only, did have a bit of a beard going on but found i had the same problem as you, it grew more on the right side of my face and not so much on the left!
-
Shortly after going sly, I decided to grow a Van Dyke which I like. I keep it groomed which is pretty easy. Wish my facial hair grew a little thicker then I would try growing a full beard.
:)

So I'm trying to find my pic used in this thread to figure out how it looked, but I can't. Not sure where it went, along with my profile pic.
Anyway, I'm bouncing back and forth with the sly+b. AAAAAAAAAAAAAA :XX Can't make peace with it cause I'm trying to grow a bit of hair, then I shave it short but not bald, and then eventually bald again. And in circles. Result is that I don't have a clue what to do. Lost in transition somewhere. I just feel under extra pressure being bald due to being thin relatively, and being pale. And bald :) guys, please have patience with me and tell me on which pic my setup looks the least despicable :) I know you will be honest. I want to make peace with the looks once and for all. Jeez all the thinkering spent on it... Could really use feedback at this point.
So:
1. http://www.strategyinformer.com/tests/1.jpg Full beard
2. http://www.strategyinformer.com/tests/2.jpg Bigger goaty
3. http://www.strategyinformer.com/tests/3.png Smaller goaty
4. http://www.strategyinformer.com/tests/4.png Full skin setup :)
Thanks for all your assistence guys in figuring out who the f I need to be :) Great & friendly forums! Keep up the good sly, beard, internet work! Sorry to bug again.

Welcome, Kres! I think that #1 suits you real well! All of the pictures look pretty good, though.
-
Hey Kres. Welcome. #1 and #2 definitely look best IMO, but all of em look good.
-
Welcome to the bald brotherhood Kres7787. You have the face that wear each look really well. I say all of the above.
-
All are fine!
I have a preference for 1 and 2 though.
-
All look good, but I prefer #2
-
Welcome ! #2 O0
-
Welcome!
-
Thanks a lot guys. I'll admit I prefer something like #2. But that was the best picture I ever taken of myself. Any slightly diff angle and I look worse and worse :p but yeah something like that fits best.
-
Add a vote for #1 ...
-
G'day mate, I am rather biased when it comes to beards... but I like #1 or 2. ALthough #4 was a really nice picture as well.
At teh end of the day, I think you can pull off any of those looks, it all comes down to what you have preference to, and it sounds to me like you prefer #2 so roll with that! The best part about growing facial hair and the like is how easy it is to experiment.
