So I'm contemplating shaving my head bald. I'm 21 years old and I have a receding hairline but I cover it up with Concealers, while it still looks like I'm receding gradually the Concealers still give me a Strong hairline. But lately its getting to the point where i think it's noticeable and I want to shave it off before anyone else does notice.....
Now I'm Not Trying to sound full of myself but I consider myself a fairly good looking guy, I never have a problem picking up women, my last girlfriend of 3 years was probably the prettiest girl I've ever met, she is a men's magazine model..... I'm 6"2 and 205pounds I have a very athletic build, I always get compliments on my body, arms, Abs etc. I go to the gym 5 times a week and Ive been training hard for the Aussie summer, put on 3kg in the past 2 weeks alone. I have a sleeve tattoo and others on my stomach, ribs and chest, which women seem to like for some reason. But for the pass two years I have kept away from swimming and those kinds of activities due to Concealers, and living in a country of very hot Climate I find it difficult to do this and I miss the beach, jetskiing etc. So I've decided to soon take the plunge of shaving my head a zero.
Buttt I'm worried of the perception it will get, or if it will diminish my looks. Toupees or transplants are out of the question and I really can't delay it any longer or someone will notice. I guess what I'm really looking for
Is some similar stories of young guys, some motivation. My head has some lumps on it but nothing to drastic, I'm not sure if I would look good bald.
Even though my ex girlfriend and I are broken up and won't get back together, I'm also worried about her reaction to it for some strange reason. I live in a very image conscious city where "aesthetics" are important. I'm just worried about people making negative comments on my head and losing that female
Attraction I have. I'm traveling alot
Next year, I still want to be the confident person I am now. Hope you guys can help me

You sound like a good looking guy. But your letting losing your hair hold you back. Shave it off, give it a try. hair grows back. You should try the 30 day rule. I did it 1/1/11 new years day. Sure I was worried about peoples reactions to my new look. But you cant fight nature. I am sorry that I waited so long. I love being bald it's given me back my self confidence. I have rejoined the gym lost 1&half stone and feel better about myself than I have done in years. All this from picking up my razor. Stay strong young man.

So I'm contemplating shaving my head bald. Hope you guys can help me
We've done everything we can--your help is at the end of taking it down to a stubble with clippers, showering and washing all the remnants of he "concealer"--it didn't conceal a thing from anyone really--lathering up, fresh blade, and help yourself. That's the long and "short" of it--get it short.

Just follow the 30 day rule and you'll have the same success as the others!
-
Welcome...just give it a try and if you don't like it, grow back your hair...pretty simple, no?
-
go for it dude, if it looks good on me at 5'6" and a bit on the podgey side you should rock it at 6'2" with a good build!
and from what ive read/ been told you should do it for yourself and no one else, who cares what others think right? as long as your happy!
what have you got too loose?

hi go for it 30 days you will love it trust me i am bald and loving it :@` O:O O0

Dan hit it on the button, do it for you!
I'm guessing the tattoos mean something to you and are not purely aesthetic, they are there for your benefit not others, it's not them, or even necessarily your build that makes you look good to girls, it's that you're a confident guy who knows who he's meant to be, and if you feel that sly is the way (it is, trust me) then you will still be the same confident, attractive guy, you'll just be free of the tyranny of hairloss.

Welcome! If everybody else's helpful insight doesn't help, maybe my sly story will. At 20, my hair started to thin. At 21 it was more noticeable (I have MPB). I was still in denial about it though, but it got so bad that I knew I had to do something. I was terrified at completely shaving my head bald and going sly, because I felt other would reticule me, and the ladies wouldn't come near me. So I started to buzz my head. Luckily, since I'm in the military, I passed it off as a military hair style. It wasn't until half way through my 21st year that I realized that buzzing wasn't cutting it, so I took a razor to my head, and cut it all off. I went out that very night to the bar with my buddies. At first they were all shocked, but payed me nothing but compliments on it (there was an occasional "cue-ball" joke while we played pool, but that died down.) as for the ladies, there were (and still are) all over my smooth dome. Always coming up to me and rubbing my head (which is a great way to break the ice with them). Plus many of them said that if it wasn't for my bald head, they probably wouldn't even notice me. I'd be another hair wearing face in the crowd. So by being sly, I got a leg up on all my friends. Not to mention, being sly was also a confidence boost, which women love, and respond too. All in all, going sly was the best thing to happen to my head, and I feel like I'm lucky for it to happen to me at such a young age. Best of luck with you, and I hope you enjoy your decision. I'm sure if you follow the 30 day rule, you'll never go back to hair, just like the rest of us. Keep us posted!

sorry for not keeping you posted...
but yea im officially sly, have been for a week and a half now. reactions have been ahhh mixed i guess haha. my mates laugh and say it looks good but they really couldnt care less. As for the ladies i get the occasional 'nooooo, what did you do? you looked better with hair" but mostly people just crack a smile and ask to feel it lol.
i posted a photo on facebook to let everyone see it there first and get used to the idea before i showed it in public. im still getting used to it and i am a little self concsious of it atm but i know with time ill get used to it. its been great going to the beach and spearfishing without having to worry about it, when i feel down about it i just focus on the new freedom i have.
you know lifes not all about looks i realise that. i dont want to be the guy who worried about his hair when he was young, in the prime of his life holding back and missing oppurtunities. i want to have fun i want to travel i want to make the most of all the freedom i have while im young and not worry about stupid things like hairloss. its not really an issue anymore i am who i am i cant change any of that :)
thanks for the support guys O0

Well done mate, give it a little bit of time for both yourself and other to get used to it. Before long you'll have people saying they can't remember you with hair.
Just remember the 30 rule :)
-
funny what shaving your head does for your confidence and self esteem! Well done!
enjoy it :)

good job mate, I know it's hard at first, but I've only been sly a few weeks and people are used to it. I knew it meant freedom from day one, and although I'm still occasionally apprehensive, I know this is me now, and I know you'll come to feel the same.
