So guys, this is it, my last 24 hours with hair (what's left of it), I'm nervous but also excited. One of my best mates is going to use the clippers on me, then it's to the shower to use my headblade. My partner will be at work so when she comes back i'll be a new man! Wish me luck, bring on the confidence and liberation!
P.S I coul only get hold of the 1st gen headblade sport, so I'll let you know if the old wheels cause any issues... I might even upgrade it myself, I have some rubber grip paint in the workshop.
-
Go for it dude!
as you kow i went sly 4 days ago and im so glad i did, enjoy the moment and sense of freedom that comes with it!
-
Enjoy the experience. Best regards.
-
looking forward to see a pic of you after you do it.
I'd suggest you to try a barbershop for the very first time.
-
Take it slow and easy with the Head Blade. It can give you a decent shave, but if you rush and bear down on it too hard, that thing can eat your scalp alive!
Have fun, and good luck. :)
-
Good luck - you'll love the new look!
-
Congratulations. You will rock the look and the girlfriend will love it.
-
I'm skeptical of the head blade. I'd recommend Gillette Fusion or Schick Hydro 5.
I've never cut my scalp with either. Keep your head well lubed & go slow at first. You'll like the look & feel !! 😄😄
-
I agree with snake. Don't get discouraged if it doesn't work well with headblade. Some of us find it very awkward, difficult to use, and don't get good results with it. Others love it. Have fun with the process.
-
congrats to you both, but for your sake listen to snake...i been there and done that and he speaks the truth. good luck!

Ive been fairly wary of the mixed reviews of the headblade, but I've got great finger control from guitar playing so I reckon it'll work ok, I've got a schick Quattro if all else fails. I'll report back to you on my experience with it, and how it makes me feel to be sly.
In reply to iRock, I thought about going to my barber, they have been really cool and have been encouraging me down the sly road for the last year or so. But in the end, I wanted to be able to get straight in the shower and shave it after its clippered (my barber doesn't do razor head shaves). I'll let you know if I regret not going to a professional.
And in a general note to all the guys who run this site, and Tyler for making it all happen: this has to be the most positive, supportful, and insightful Internet community I have ever known. Thanks guys!

good luck with it

Good luck.
I started shaving my head just over a month ago. I've only used the HeadBlade and haven't had any issues with it. I find it very easy to use and (along with HeadSlick and HeadLube) find I get a very close smooth shave.
I haven't tried using a regular razor, but after using the headblade, it seems to me that a regular razor would be awkward.
i was nervous about the first time, so I watched the videos on HeadBlade.com and also on youtube from links in this forum. I think that helped to make it easier.
-
Way to go!!! O0
I'm living proof...anyone can use a HeadBlade.
I have like 3 original sports over 4 years old each (1 for travel, 1 for home, 1 just because it was on sale).
-
Also, to address your concern on not having the latest sport model, I am using the original as the sport is not in stores in Canada.
-
Good luck! You'll enjoy the freedom. I'm a HeadBlader and love it. Just go slow and don't apply pressure and you should be fine.
-
Congrats on your decision! Like Doug said, don't apply pressure directly to the blade with HeadBlade and you'll do great. Keep the pressure in the center of the razor.

it's happening in half an hour!!

We knew you would!

Man, I've been clippering to stubble for most of the past year. Your comments here make me want to just shave it bald now. I was going to wait until birthday in May. Family would have a fit if I did it prior to Christmas ... (I'll honor that), but wife has 10 days in Minnesota in late January. Might be a good time to give it a try --- like a short test prior to the 30 days rule in May.

May we see some pikz of the new you?

It's so short now, it would grow back to the stubble by Christmas anyway--clean house for the Holidays! Scratch that itch--it will feel SO good. O0

I think many of us are more comfortable with our regular razors because we have so much experience shaving our faces with them for decades.
Yes, do it now mrzeb !! 😄😄
-
good to hear you love it :)
-
COngradulations and welcome to Sly Bald Guys. You will love the sly look. Looking forward to seeing a picture.

5, it looks good, sir. Nice trim. And nice beard.
-
Looks great mate, give it about a week and the pale shadow will fade and even out. It'll look like you've always been bald :)
Glad you love it.
Remember the 30 day rule.
-
REALLY looks fantastic! I told you the dark eybrows and beard would look intense and it does. I think you look better, more interesting, and definitely bad-ass.
-
Great look there, slyfive. You made the right choice.
-
Bad ass. In a good way.
-
Looks great! O0

that beard rocks:D
I can't grow a god damn beard for now... I need to ...grow up :D
-
Wow, two thumbs up on the shaved head. It really showcased your features. Keep the beard. Most of all, keep it smoothly shaved. O0 O0
-
Way to go five, looks good. Keep at it and it will become easier each day. With time your scalp will gain color and blend in with the rest of your face. O0
-
Lookin' good!
-
O0 Great look for the Holidays and 2012--now thirty days!

Hmmmm, good! Somehow it provides a more "sensitive look". (With very short hair, you had a "sporty look" instead, if you see what I mean.)
-
Looking great!
Big improvement - head and beard. ;-)
-
great story and photo - well done
