Hey people, well to cut a long story short -
I started losing my hair 3 years ago, really noticed it from August last year and has continued so lately I have been getting it cut short. I've been trying to judge peoples opinions in the street but they're hard to read.
Question is do you think having a shaved head suits me? or not? (photo attatched.

Welcome, Arrow! If you're looking for objectivity you came to the wrong forum, lol. You look like a young confident executive on his climb up the ladder of success. Good luck with the BBC look.

I dont see where you would have any problem rockin a bald head and some face fuzz. Shave that head down to the wood add some facial hair and see what you think. If you like it fantastic, if not go back to the old you which is fine as well. Luckily you have options. O0

Looks better than a Bozo Ring or combover, it will look great when you carry the whole effect with conviction and pride.

I was in the same position as you one month ago... Reading the forum posts here convinced me that I should just go for it! I am bald and content now.
I'll just say that you should remember that hair always grows back! So if you think your new look doesn't suit you, you just need to wait for 4-5 days before it grows back.
-
try a buzz haircut and you'll see
then shave it off, it'll grow if you don't like it!
-
From the pic, it's obvious it would look great. Trying to gauge people's reactions won't get you very far. Our brains do a great job of interpreting things how they see fit. If you are calm and confident, your brain will interpret reactions accordingly. Same for if you are insecure and self-conscious, your brain will find a way to put a negative spin on almost every reaction. Jump in all the way, make a commitment, embrace the 30 days. There is a good chance it will completely change your life.
-
go for it 30days dude u will love the feel the look the smooth O0 O0 :@`sly is :@` :@`

Not a bad look at all Arrow. Welcome to the site. Keep us posted on your progress to happiness.
-
I agree with Slynito.... You look like a confident young guy. If yhou are worrying about your hair loss then shave it off and keep that confidence at it's peak! 30 day rule!!!!!!
-
Hey, Arrow!
The brothers are giving you good advice. You look fine, but you would look great with a shaved dome. Why not go for it and try the 30-day deal.
One thing is for sure, the hair loss will continue. I think you will end up embracing the chrome dome and wonder why you waited so long! :)
-
Absolutely. Go for the shaved hed and give it the 30 day trial. I think you will love the look like we all do.
Welcome to the Sly Bald Guys Forum.

It will be good. Trust the brothers' comments here.

ok ok, time for an update.... I haven't gone the whole way yet, but it's getting very close. I'm waiting for work to break (xmas time) for 2 weeks before i take the plunge. ;)
The below photo is one that taken a few weeks ago.. thoughts?

I fought with the same decision as you. I've been losing my hair for 15 years but never wanted to shave it. I was concerned what others would think. I actually read too much into that. One day I looked at the back of my head and saw what SaintC referred to as a bozo ring. At that point I had to shave the dome. When I finally did it, I felt free. It felt different, in a good way.
The first couple of times I went out in public, I was conscious of others reactions. I really didn't notice any one staring but what I did notice was there are actually alot of sly guys. Never really noticed before.
My co-workers say I look better sly than with the bozo ring. It's been a couple of weeks for me and I'm completely at ease.
The way I now feel is if someone doesn't like it, they can KMA!

I think it really suits you, go with what you feel comfortable with!
-
Going to a shaved head will be an easy move for you.
You look good with the tight buzz. You'll enjoy being truly bald.
-
Total agreement from me.
You'll look better.
You'll feel better.
What more do you need?
-
You're this close and look good with the short buzz. You'll look and feel great going full sly. So you really want to wait until Christmas?
-
The buzzcut is a good start....but I have a feeling you're going to go all the way sooner rather than later!
-
Total agreement from me.
You'll look better.
You'll feel better.
What more do you need?
Wise words from FrontierGuy.

Bit of an update, so i took the plunge today, I found some new razors in the cupboard and decided to do it ;D
Bit of blood pissing out, but not a bad effort for a first timer, i could have done better with some better razors these were cheap 2 blades.
Still on the fence, my head is a bit lumpy but not much can be done about that... I guess it is what it is, if this was the worse that happens to me, then, I'm doing pretty good.

any quick wins on stopping the blood ? Lol, it's bleeding from about 5 spots.
-
Your head looks great!
But dude, those glasses are doing nothing for you. ;)
-
You look great with a chrome dome. Keep it slick! Regarding cuts and bleeding, those are going to happen ... take your time shaving and be extra careful going around curves, especially around the ears. The bad/good news is that the head has the most blood flowing in it per unit area because it needs to send so much to the brain. The bad news is that minor cuts on the head bleed more than elsewhere. The good news is that they heal faster. Put cold water on the cut and periodically dab it with tissue.
-
If you can get hold of a styptic pencil (ask your local chemist) it'll stop the bleeding pretty much straight away. Just wet the end of it and rub it on the cut. Stings like merry hell, but works a treat.
-
The styptic pencil works great! Fast as stated.
-
Looks great! I also vote for the styptic pencil...but once you get used to shaving, you will cut yourself a lot less.
-
Definitely looks good.
As mentioned, you'll have less issues with cuts as your experience increases. Also, I found that regular shaving causes the scalp to become a bit more durable.
Continued success to you!
-
You can also use alum to stop the bleeding. It also has mild antiseptic properties.
Do it less often in the beginning so that you can give time for those cuts to heal. After they do, shave again. Keep doing this until you get a cut free shave.
But don't forget to moisturize and protect your scalp, even when you don't shave
You look great by the way :)
