Title: merging onto the slyway
Post by: R o b 6 on April 28, 2007, 01:35:55 PM: Been visiting the site for a few weeks now and am considering going sly this summer. Already close, with a "sly" and tight on the back and sides. Great reading about the benefits and camaraderie.

We had some cold days here last month, and I was wishing I had a beanie or hat because of the lost heat, so keep in mind you'll want something to keep your scalp warm if you stay sly through winter (and chances are you'll like it so much that you will...).

Post by: R o b 6 on April 29, 2007, 08:01:34 PM: Thanks, guys. My barber's itching to peel it down to the wood once I give him the thumbs up. I'd probably let him do the honors the first few times. The back is a tight #1 right now.

I know it should be an easy plunge to take, but I'm trying out the various blades and lengths...next one up is a "000" so my wife (OK, me, too) can get used to the look gradually.

Post by: SLYinKC on April 29, 2007, 08:12:44 PM: Hey WannatrySLY, That is exactly what I did. I did the "high and tight" with going shorter and shorter for a couple of years. It was only in the last couple of weeks after I started visiting this site that I finally got motivated to quit sitting on the fence and at first took the top down to about 1/8" and did a no-guard on the side. This was the shortest that I had ever had it and it made alot of my friends and aquaintances take notice. It was only about after 1-2 weeks of this that I finally decided that I had to make the move and go totally SLY. Once I made the decision to do it, I knew that I couldn't let myself backout and even moved up the date that I had set for myself.

I'll tell you from my experience that buzzing shorter and shorter does not compare to the totally SLY experience.
