I got my first about a year ago. Its the "Schwinn" logo, like off the front of one of their cruiser Bikes. Black Vert Oval around a Vert Oval that is filled in, outlining the letters... Reason: that is what most people remember about me, Me on my bike going in and out of traffic. That is my Positive memory of College as well, seeing as my Cruiser addiction started here, and has been present (& Growing) through my entire college career.
Whats Yours? It still with us or covered up? Reasons/Memories/Purpose for it/Behind it?
-
You gonna tell us where it is, Mr. Clean? M!55

My first tatoo is on my upper right shoulder blade; it's Buddha
-
my first one is this weird little bulls skull. kinda looks like abstract art in a way. it will be covered up in the next few months when i decide what to put on my shoulder. also have a tribal looking frog on my leg. and an eagle with the confederate flag and my grandpa's initials on the other arm. it will never be covered up.

Got my first tat in 1997 at Golf Tattoo, Pattaya Beach, Thailand...a wizard on my right arm to show my dedication to magic(thought I was going to get out of the Navy and be a magician). Got it for a pair of Ray-Bans...since then I've added at least one more tat for every deployment I've been on. I'm up to seven now.

I have the University of Maryland "M" with the Maryland Flag banner above it (same one that appears on the Men's Basketball shorts) tattooed above my right ankle. I got it my senior year there. I have resisted the temptation to get more though. ???

i have been trying to draw up some ideas for my wife to get her first one for the last couple hours. she is very picky and does not want to listen to reason. she wants a sun and moon on top of her foot. having trouble explaining that it will look like crap if it is too small or too detailed for the size. i am open to suggestions.

Dare we ask where you would like it to be placed? :D

on top of her foot. she made the comment "if it fits right, it will look cute with flip flops."

So you are disagreeing over the design choice, not the place where it's going to go?

correct. just think she wants too much detail for a small piece. if the design is good enough, i plan on getting the same one. night and day has meaning to us. oldest son born in daytime, and doodlebug born at night.

You gonna tell us where it is, Mr. Clean? M!55
Location: Lower Left Leg, Over the Akilies Tendon Area.

My first tattoo was mine and my wifes astrological birth symbols, I had the tattoo artist join the two together, to symbolize us being married. My wife didn't know I was doing this and when I showed it to her, she thought it was her initials, and when I took a good look at it she was right, it did.
I would tell you about my seccond tattoo, but the name of this thread is " your first tattoo " :*))

Carefull there Brother! Initials of a Significant other are Bad JuJu! Someone get this man a Lucky Rabbits Foot Stat!
You know what, I never really got this, why are Lucky Rabbits Feet Lucky? I mean the Rabbit was not to "Lucky" if he managed to loose his foot! Thats like naming a dog with no Back Legs and Brass balls Sparky!
-
It's all good bro, I'm secure in my relationship with my wife. I'm not going anywhere, and if she was going to leave me, she'd have left my sorry a*^ a long time ago. For some unknown reason she is still in love with me.

Women... The minute you realize that you know nothing about how/what they think & will never know, You Know Women :-X.
I Never understand why women keep this devil around as well... I mean, I'm Good, But alot of the time I am just Good at being Bad
-
Yeah Tom it makes me wonder why she stayed with you all these years...she must feel sorry for ya LOL

Ah, so the wife gets to be the guinea pig?? :D :D

I have scull and crossbones on my rt shoulder, Navy anchor on the lt shoulder, Kanji on my l hand (means to do one's best). I want to do a full back piece. I have the first part picked out. Called the hour glass of life and death. I want Carpe Diem above it. Life/death in Kanji on either side and then something below it to fill the whole back.
-
My first I got two years ago, its a chinese symbol that means "TRUTH", in the middle of the back of my neck
-
I haven't gotten a tattoo yet, but I'm pretty set on what I want and where I want it.
I'm a big John Steinbeck fan; his writing has shaped my approach to the world for the better, I believe. He used to sign with a stamp and not a regular signature. This is it: http://www-us.flickr.com/photos/kewlio/91525764/ (http://www-us.flickr.com/photos/kewlio/91525764/). I want to get it virtually exactly like that, although I'm not sure about the font of the "Ad Astra...". I am thinking it will be no larger than the size of my fist, on my right pec/booby. At that size, I don't know how picky I can really be about the style of font. (Another pic of the Pigasus: http://steinbeck.sjsu.edu/biography/pigasus.jsp (http://steinbeck.sjsu.edu/biography/pigasus.jsp))
I've asked people for feedback and I've gotten "love it!" reactions, "love it except put it on your arm or back", and "I hate it".
It's kind of cheesy and kind of personal so I don't want to have it out there all the time on my arm.
-
soccty, that's original for sure! Very cool!
-
I am thinking it will be no larger than the size of my fist, on my right pec/booby.
haha! you said booby! :D ;D
sorry.. :-[
-
My first Tattoo was of a Cartoon Bulldog holding a M-16 standing in front of a tattered American Flag... USMC underneath it
I got it during the 10 days I was home on leave between graduating Boot camp and reporting for Combat Training
-
my first professinal tattoo i got done were flaming clovers on each side of my neck. and after that i just kept on getting more.
-
Thats always how it goes... Tattoo's are like lays chips, you can't only have just one!
Either that or like beer. Because [like beer] it only takes me one Tattoo to make me Solid... I just don't know if it will be the seventh or eighth tattoo [or beer] that will become the One! :*)) B@^
-
that is very true :XX
-
well like I said previously here's a pic of my tattoo..
It's over 10 years old next one will be the back of my neck or lower..
-
I will get my first one but i havent decided yet, i have thought about the Bavarian Coat of Arms, my mother was from Munich Germany,
-
My First Tat Was My Family Crest My Dumb Self Put It In The Middle Of My Chest Not Knowing How Much It Would Hurt On The Breastbone.
-
My first Tat was a unicorn with flaming mane on my right upper arm.
Of course this was well over 20 years ago. That started me on the road to many more.
I am eventually going to have some recolored and added to.
This is about your first tat, so I won't go on about the others, lol.
-
my first tat is an eagle flying caring a rose
-
I wasn't aware of a particular curse when I got my first tat.
(https://www.slybaldguys.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fa753.ac-images.myspacecdn.com%2Fimages01%2F86%2Fl_251ee099bf93b5b89e9467d01ba98fb8.jpg&hash=d823cc574fc4d8f155f9ec283d870ffe38834a20)
I have since been told by a number of people, "Tattooing the name of someone you love is a relationship curse."
Maybe it's true, maybe not, but that's the way it worked for me.
I still love my tat, and I still love Kyle, but we're not together any more.
-
The people who give warning about tattooing the name of your beloved on your body usually have had bad relationship problems in the past.
Needless to say I dont listen to the supposed tattoo expertise or advice of anyone except the tattoo artist.
Everyone is a critic these days.
-
Everyone is a critic these days.
Isn't that just human nature, JDog! Everyone got's to get their two cents in, especially when it comes to Tats.
My first was a Japanese Koi fish. You can only imagine the remarks I got when my family and friends first saw that!! Like what is that ugly thing??

That's a pretty cool looking tattoo JC. If you don't mind me asking, (& don't feel you need to tell me if you don't want to) I was wondering what the top & bottom lines say?
When I met my partner Gary I already had one small tattoo. He really liked it & decided to get a tattoo as well, then a little while later, we both went & got the same tattoo done of a small celtic man (from The Book Of Kells) .. sort of like our version of a wedding ring I guess. I always meant to get some more done but haven't got round to it ... so far

Sempre nel mio cuore, It's Italian for Always In My Heart.
Non Dimenticar, means never forgotten.
It comes off looking more like a memorial tat, but the guy who did the original tat (Just the name KYLE) did such a lousy job, it couldn't stand alone. So I had the rest done around it. The tribal heart, and the inscription were done a few months later.
I LOVE the idea of wedding tats instead of rings. Tats have such a permanence in this world of disposable things and flexible values.
Maybe the name tat curse is real, maybe not, but the next one I get for someone I love will be something symbolic of them, and not their name. Better not to tempt the fates.
-
My first, unfortunately is still my only. Head of a bald eagle with the American and Rebel Battle flags.
I know what my next one will be, just don't have the money or time currently to get it done.
-
My first tattoo was of 3 small kanji characters which I had done when I was 16, and had covered up last year with a spade relief.
-
My first tat is a bear paw on my shoulder. It was my tat devirgining. I was in a truck stop back when I usaed to drive and It was 3 in the morning and I was not tired and real bored, there was a tat shop next to the stop and I was like "what the hell"
-
My first ( and as of now only ) tattoo is the UPC barcode across the back of my head. The back of the head is a very painfull place to get a tattoo but I have nothing to compare it to so I dont know if I want to go through that again.
-
My first tattoo was a bat on my upper left shoulder done with a needle and india ink (yeah, stupid) I am planning on getting that one covered up soon.
My second is a skull on my right shoulder.
My third is a bear and a moon on my back (my wife has a similar tatt that we got on valentines day about 5 years before we were married on valentines day, so it is very significant).
my fourth is the image below, my family badge (I am Scott / Irish) and it covers my entire stomach , and yes it hurt. The words translate to "Sweeter Through Difficulty"
I plan on getting more soon but they can be pricey.

-
My first tattoo was a Tolkien-based design with the tree of Gondor with seven stars and a crown on my right shoulder. I plan to have more added and turn it into a half-sleeve once I finish getting my current one worked on ... maybe sometime in 2008...
-
I have 4 tatoos, and one ear piercing,
I was 17 when I got my first tat and it is marvin the martian on my left arm and when it comes to the piercing I intentionaly wear a big hoop just to go with the mr. clean look
-
My first tattoo was a tribal around my right arm, with a ying yang in the middle to depict my inner opposites...got it at 18. I have since gotten shoulder pieces, and most of my back is covered with a giant guardian angel backpiece. I have 10 tattoos.
-
My first tattoo is a small medical caduceus on my left arm. I got it when I graduated x-ray school. I have my first initial and my wifes first initial with a vine running through them on my right chest.
My third is a cross on my right arm. That is my favorite and biggest. It has a tribal thorn design behind it. I told the artist what I wanted and he free handed the thorns. I found the cross on the internet and he tweaked the shading and stuff to really make it stand out.
It has a lot of symbolism to me the way it is layed out.
-
my 1st tattoo is a silhoutte of a lion head with a saw blade around it. i have it btwn my shoulder blades. I plan on getting a 2nd one here soon, I wanna get an armband just not sure of the exact design, My wife and I are expecting our 1st child this May so I might get their intials incorporated in the armband, but not sure.

I got my first tattoo last August. It is a half sleeve that is on my upper right arm. It is an Angel reaching down to help pull a man from a pit (his own personal Hell) where many arms (his demons) are trying to pull him back in. The man is me (and yes he is SLY!) and the tattoo represents the bad things/times in my life and me eventually getting out of those times. Simply put..... it's about personal Salvation.
I wanted a tattoo for about 20 years but could just never figure out what I wanted. Once I came up with the idea, I researched some tattoo artists, chose the one that was right for me, and had her draw up the tattoo based on my idea. i gave her my idea and total artistic control.
So at 47 years old I got my first tattoo and I love it.
Tattoos and being SLY........ two things most people just don't get...... and i like it that way.....

Got my first one in 2000 outside Ft. Leonardwood. Simple USMC and an EGA on my upper left arm. It looked horrible lol. Took me a few years to realize JUST how bad it was. Got that one reworked in North Carolina outside Camp Lejeune in 2001 and it looks 1000x's better. Added some thorns around my arm in the process.
Got my second one last year at a good spot here in Birmingham. Its the American flag with USMC above it, and USN below it. My grandfather died from cancer a year prior and was in the Navy in WW2. We gave each other a hard time about our respective branches, and he was truely the best guy I have ever known. Its on my lower left leg and EVERYONE was shocked at how big it was when I came in with it. I wondered what I thought about always being able to see it, but I like it 1000000000 times better than the one noone ever sees.

That's great, JM, nice tribute to your Granddad.
And yes, I agree, tattoo's are meant to be seen. O0
-
My first (and so far only tattoo) is of a skeleton that I got on the back of my shoulder. I got it just before my last year of high school. It is all black. I really like it and think it looks bad ass, but cute at the same time.
-
I have 2 tats. My first tat was a 3/4 Celtic braid on my L bicep. After having gone to Maui a few years ago, I saw beige geckos all over the place. I would have gotten a gecko tat done while we were in Maui, but I got a sunburn the day before we were supposed to leave. Ultimately, I got a green gecko on my R bicep.
-
A small cross above my inner right ankle.
I've since added a celtic band around that cross, a large cross on my back left shoulder, and an alpha-omega symbol on my right shoulder.
They are addictive, and I'd have more if my wife would let me.
-
@xnewyawka- I agree, don't get a tattoo where no one will see it, especially if its something meaningful.
I got a mistake tattooed on my arm.
(https://www.slybaldguys.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1227.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fee428%2FBaldBradley%2FIMAG0246.jpg&hash=93a65b65f2f2f081853aae442759a4114c162b96)
(you can see most of it)
I liked the logo of a clothing company and the co-owners had the logo tattooed on their arms and I asked randomly if it would be cool for me to get it done aswell. Long story short I got $200 worth of clothing (a sweatshirt and like six shirts) from the company for a $100 tattoo. Their products are so overpriced :c(
The company by the way is Kiaeneto, they are a clothing company aimed towards the gaming community. One of the owners is Dave "Walshy" Walsh who is one of the best xbox gamers around, he is a pro with Major League Gaming. Honestly I was a big fan of MLG and Dave, but I've moved on and regret getting the tattoo.
The tattoo artist must have been on drugs to have done as bad of job as she did. She couldn't keep the inner ovals the same size, she did a terrible job mixing the color, and she couldn't even stay in the lines. I contacted the artist on MySpace about a month after I got the tattoo asking if she could do a touch up on the tattoo and she told me the shop closed. Two and a half years later its still open, I wouldn't trust that place even with a touch up.
There is a picture of my grandpa hanging up in the family room and I would love to get it as a cover up. I will probably never have an extra $250 (give or take) lying around though. I thought it would be cool to suprise my grandma with the tattoo.

My next with my dad.
the next with my best friend.

-
Now I have run out of money for tattoos lol.
I totally get this one luky7evens. It does get to be addicting. I have been wanting to get some new ink myself. I would also like add to and refresh my older work. It's just not in the cards right now. Hopefully I can find an artist who is both skilled and affordable.
-
I just got my tribal makau (Fish Hook) between my shoulder blades, now I'm looking at a tribal right and left to each side with maybe a honu in there as well.
-
My first was after boot camp a "USMC" on my right arm. I had it covered with an eagle on a shield after I got pissed at the Corps. Years later I got a very cool "Yin Yang" and Dragon in several colors on my left shoulder. ...correct, they are addictive.
-

The dragon in this tattoo was my first. I got it about 20 years ago. The Korean script above it was added years later.

got the all seeing eye on my left shoulder, later added wings to it that run down my back
-
My first tattoo was a demonic looking steer skull (what can I say? I'm a boy from the west.) That of course led to 10 more tattoos. Which will lead to even more.
-

Laura
Awesome, I like the design
-
My first tattoo was a flaming chess knight. I'm very passionate about playing chess. It's one of my favorite things to do. I could never imagine not playing chess. It was kind of a nerdy thing to get but I like it anyway. My second tattoo is a celtic cross to symbolize my love for Christ.
Whatever you choose as a tattoo make sure it's something that means a lot to you. Take your time picking out a design. You will have it the rest of your life.
-
My first tattoo was two twin flags in full color with the head of an American Eagle in the center. On the top is a Cobra also in full color having to fight off a dragon coming from the bottom of the flag and a scorpion following close behind. The piece is on my right shoulder and started off at about 8 inches in length. Jesus was added on top that caps the shoulder surrounded by cherubs. It is now a foot in length. Yes they are addictive. I now have another foor long sleeve on the other arm. With my bald head in a sleeveless shirt they look pretty cool.
-
My first, after worrying that old age and tattooing might be mutually exclusive was the Kansas City Chiefs Arrowhead just below the crick in my elbow on the inside of my left arm. Now it seems as if it's always been there and I'm working on a design that will lead to a half sleeve, a partial pack piece , up to the neck and above the pec. I'll get it photographed and "up" when it's finished. Which won't be right away. Awesome being inked. Sorry I waited. PJ
-
My first tat was a cross on my left upper arm, done with needle and thread wrapped around it and india black ink , bleed wipe poke. Turned out pretty sweet wasn't drunk or even been drinking was around 11 yoa. :D Mom told me to scub until I got that ink off . :*)) can't do it it is a tat. That is when I was about to see the door to the homestead . But couple days it was good ! ;D
-
My first was a small Hawaiian tiki on my left ankle. Got it in April of 2007. I've added four more since then.
-
First tattoo is on My lft bicep a Horse shoe with a bucking bronc inside of it and My buddies initials on the horse shoe. My buddy Vincent Michael Day and I used to be just like brothers. And we always talked about riding off into the sunset on Mustangs just like John Wayne. Tragically Vinnie was taken from Me in a fatal Car crash. So I kept His memory alive as soon as I turned 17 I got that tat and I have gotten several since then.
-
An honourable tattoo indeed.
-
I'm thinking about getting a tattoo. Haven't had one yet. I want it to say "DWYL" which stands for "Don't Waste Your Life," which is my personal motto. Been thinking about inside my wrist so I see it all the time. I believe what we give our time, money, effort, and heart to becomes our treasure, and I want God to be my treasure. I want to pay attention to what I'm setting my hands to do and how I'm spending the time He has given me, so putting the tat near my hand would be a very visual and meaningful reminder of that.

Love the concept, although your ankle will get pretty full!
