Well, they was harsh to me:D
I am like 20, never been bald before, and then, BOOM! I was bald.
Some (few) apreciated it, some not. they even called me "kojak" (..).
Now, after like one month, they got used to it, I'm way better to.
It's tough around, I live in Roumanie (some where eastern Europe), and they are like way back in time.

You can say that again!

he.
google translate fails big time:D
thanks anyhow, I've got the idea :)

Hi Paul.eboy!
It's better to accept that you're loosing your hair and eventually becoming bald from the start, no matter how young you are, and just become comfortable with it, instead of trying to hide it in some lame way. Try to grow a beard or something too, if you can, and find out what's the best look for you. Don't be afraid to try out stuff. That's my best tip for you O0

Can't disagree with that!

Well said Ellus. I agree with You entirely.

Wow! I was shopping in Lowe's (home improvement big box store) this morning and everyone...I said, everyone looked at me. I checked for mustard on the tie (no tie) buggerz and an open fly...nada, everyone was fixated on the shinny (Shave Secret) dome. I never noticed anything like it before. Hummm?
-
hoh.
I shaved today.
as soon as I got out of the barbershop, everyone was staring at me :O
I walked on the sidewalks like 3 hours, and they were like "what?:O"
I really didn't/don't care at all, it's just a haircut. If they can't get it, not my business :)
-
Congratulations. You've got the right attitude. It's only hair and it's yours. If people don't like it big deal.
-
Bro, you have to be prepared for a lot of reactions... I even catch dudes staring at me sometimes haha.
-
To me, being called "Kojak" would be a high compliment. Telly Savalas sported a shaved head decades before it became mainstream. I loved that show when growing up. O:O
-
I liked ol' Kojak, too. He was a teddy bear and also hard as nails...did he own stock in Tootsie Pops?
:*))

They said to me:
-"great! You remind me that guy with leukemia in that movie... so cute!"
-"What have you smoked last night?"
-"Your scalp is perfect, you look so good!"
-"I want your curl back!"
-"Can I touch?"
-"But outside it's cold!"
-"show at least some shadow..."
-"From an extreme to another!"
-"Lookin' good!"
-"Hey, You've got a nice face!"
-"You suck, man... you look scary!"
-"Put a cap on!" (mum, obviously)
-"But it's only a transient thing, RIGHT?"

Thanx for the laugh! :} How much time did it take for you to get so many comments?
-
hahahaha! Very little amount of time, if you know some people :)
But in the end I found out that if you like yourself, the others will be intrigued. On the contrary, if you dislike what you see into the mirror, this will negatively affect the way other people will stare at you.

I was just compared to the rapper Common. When I buzzed my head, I was compared to Rick Ross.
As for the former, I told the person that the next album "Common" releases will be a heavy metal album.

O0 in my case, I have been bald (skinhead) for weeks ( i shave against the grain every other day)... They really like my dome... In fact they told me i look younger and attractive... i can't help but strongly agree with them... I believe the reactions we got are sometimes what we project... If we project confidence and liberty, i got respect and admiration, he he he especially from girls.
Long live the SLY Bald Guys (**!

I was told how I look like a tough guy now. Ironically, I'm one of the nicest people around.

Day 5 of the 30 day trial.
No reaction so far. Until today.
My neighbour thought I'd lost weight. :)
And old friend thought I'd lost weight too :) . But an 'awful' bald look. I shall, of course, ignore the reference to my head.

you probably DID loose a few grams of weight!
Looks good. I, too, have received a number of super delayed reactions. I've completed 3 weeks bald, and don't plan to stop now. Nice feedback from most. Don't notice any stares.

my theory is, if they're hating on the bald dome, they're just jelous they dont have one!
-
Just come back from the pub here in London. And a comment from a (skinhead) pal suggests your jealously of the bald look may be true.
Lightweights.
If you can shave your facial stubble, you can shave your head !!

Reaction from my mother while taking off my winter hat in a store: ''Oh! Please put it back on! Your head looks so white too!
Can't say my mother is supporting me that much, I just hope she doesn't mean everything she says...

ow, you know how parents are like..
My mom def. got over it :D
I'm just too convincing to let anyone think diffrent of what I do :D
-
Pretty much where I live and work it's almost commonplace....At first I felt weird when a guy with MPB would stare at me (or my head I should say) but a sly co-worker told me that it's probably jealousy.....Ironically out of the 20 guys on my shift six of us shave our heads, though with varying intervals....Like I said it's so common nowadays, hardly anyone cares unless you cut yourself and have to wear a bandage in public (embarrassing).
-
I know how rough family can be...just hang in there and be your independent self.

Almost 15 years bald by choice and mom still cannot accept my choice of shaving bald. Tsk. Tsk. Tsk.

Totally agree with you about families. You just have to roll with their punches and assert yourself.
Been Skyping my folks recently, they didn't like the new look at first. But seem to be mentioning it less and less. And my brother thinks I look evil !
-
my son said he hated it, but cant stop touching it. My wife (better half)doesnt like it , but has said its up to me. a few jokes (the obvious ones) when a load of friends came round, but nothing after the first five minutes. One friend came round earlier and didnt even seem to notice. And then my first head rub from the neighbour saying it felt as smooth as her babies bum(just shaved it). so all in all very good so far, no nazi bits (that will wind me up) no skinhead comments yet. my mother will probably hate it because my dad had chemo twenty five years ago before he died. I hope its not too high maintainance to keep up, I love it.
Happy valentines to all the slap heads
:)

A close buddy complimented me on my shaved head. (It's been almost a month now). He's thinning quite a bit on top. Said .... you are really tempting me to shave my head, too!
I referred him to this site. We'll see if he shows up.
-
My four teenagers are very supportive of me.. They are the ones who encourages me to put some facial hair... But my wife is still on her stage of acceptance ;D. But at the end of the day, i'm still the one who will decide for myself O0

You've got that damn right!
-
In most cases it's just a matter of time to get used to the new look, but of course there will be hold outs and those that know what is really good for you.
O:O
-
I shaved mine while away from the missus working ;) I had also grown the stash and goat.
When I told her said " Mr clean bald" then followed by "I wanna see,I wanna see"
Send a pic and she liked it. She said I looked like one of those tough guys from Sons of Anarchy and that I could to really bad things to her. Oh how I love my missus. Lol
I was asked today by bosses wife if I was gonna keep the stash & goat because I looked like a mean supremacist. Nope keeping it all. Lol
Its funny how you can grow some.hair, shave some hair & people think that changes who you are.

that's so true.

Reactions to my first head shave were:
"Hi, Kojak!" - I take that as a compliment as when I was younger Mr Savalas was seen not only as a tough guy but a sex symbol by a lot of women.
Skinhead; Baldy; Cueball; Chromie; Nazi (I found that quite offensive, but got over it); Slap-head; Cool; Mr Clean
"When are you going to let your hair grow, again?" (my mother)
"You need a haircut!" (My former boss being funny - I just laughed, too)
"Who cut your hair? I'll get them for you." (One of my colleagues)
"Were you nervous getting all your hair shaved off?" (My reply was "Yes", but I explained that it was my choice & that was the way i was staying - Bald By Choice). :)

I seem to remember someonesaying ru on chemo ?
I dont mind slaphead , sorta nice and friendly

Pretty much where I live and work it's almost commonplace....At first I felt weird when a guy with MPB would stare at me (or my head I should say) but a sly co-worker told me that it's probably jealousy.....
I was in new contractor orientation last week and one of the instructors who came in was severely balding. He took one look at me, ran his hand over what he had left, and commented that he wished he had as much guts as I do. :P
My father is the only one to call me Kojak thus far.
A few of the guys who have been sly for a long time now commented that I had finally got some of my dignity back.

Nice.
I also reply to "sly isn't that cool" with "beacuse you don't have the guts to do it"
-
Take the Kojac comment as a compliment
-
Being bald makes you taller. It's a fact.
OK, so I've had one bad reaction.
But quite a fewer have said I look younger, now I'm bald. Before I was bald, I was an average 5 foot 8. Now I've grown in confidence and stature and stand 6 foot 4. ;)
-
you look like a cancer patient type of comments right?
