Yes. This is going to be my 1st sly winter and I'm already looking around and thinking about head gear.
-
I didnt know what a beanie was so I googled it.
No. Under no circumstances. Ever.
Just in case you dont know what a tea cosy is: http://d200fahol9mbkt.cloudfront.net/item/819634/Cerise_Raspberry_1.jpg

Only if it had a propeller on top.

Sorry guys, I am one who doesn't like to cover up even in winter. Although winter in Southern Texas is no too cold but the lower 40 is cold enough for us.
-
Whats the benefit of one of these beanie things over other types of hats/caps? They look like the kind of hat children would wear, so I'm guessing there must be another benefit other than the way they look?

Sure - - -You never know who you will meet - - -Several years ago I was in Istanbul with an Ogunquit hat on and sure enough someone came up to me who lived in Ogunquit (a summer resort in Maine)

Andy - - You better get over here soon -so you know what things are

So if you go to Istanbul and you wear a beanie hat, will you meet a real life Beanie? :o

A couple of times a year during the winter I have to go to upstate NY--that's professional grade cold so when I go I wear a "beanie" or hat like those shown here:

My melon's too big for a tea cozy thank you very much. The only drawback with beanies can be that on a freshly peeled peach in the morning they can tend to slide up and off :D. Otherwise, any hat with seams or sewing on the inside irritates my scalp >:(. If the SBG beanies are lined, yes I'd wear one when I have to go to such extreme temperatures. Otherwise, I prefer nothing on the dome except sunscreen.

My coverage of choice for winter (or what passes for it down here) is a Navy watch cap -- a type of beanie.

That one looks good, its not as long/low as the ones I've seen on the internet. With those, if they were against your head, they'd also cover your eyes and half your face :o but I like that ^ one

It doesnt get anywhere near as cold here as it does in NY so I usually dont wear a hat, but if I do, its usually a baseball cap. Or if its really really REALLY cold, I wear a fur-lined hat with flaps that cover my ears (I bought it in NYC), but I dont know what they're actually called. I think I have a picture somewhere

Like this I would think--reminds me of Ignatius Reilly in Confederacy of Dunces!
